Diner Reviews
  • "WE always enjoy our time at Nina's. Food is great, service is polite, non-intrusive and timely. Never fails to satisfy."

  • "Food is great. Service was better George was the best server i ever had. He was always there funny and rememberable but not overwhelming. Middletown needs more places like this one!"

  • "We don't get to Nina as often as we would like, but every time we do manage to get there we start planning our next visit before we leave."

  • "We have eaten here several times before, and loved it. We made reservations and arrived on time. There was nobody at the host stand or behind the bar, although patrons were seated there. We waited more than 10 minutes for a server to come by. She told us it would take about 15 minutes for a table to be ready, and pointed us to the couches by the bar to wait. She went to talk to the patrons at the bar, then disappeared again. Several people finished their meals and left, still no table for us by 7:00, at which point I went to look for a server myself, and told her we would not be staying. Nobody made an effort to explain or even acknowledge any issue, and completely ignored us. This visit left a bad taste in our mouths."

  • "We took advantage of the price given for restaurant wk because this restaurant is pricey."

  • "We had a 7:00 reservation. It was restaurant week and they were very short staffed. Not seated until 7:15. Portions for restaurant were much smaller than regular menu. Food was just ok. My scallops tasted like they had been cooked in canned soup and they were quite sandy. The first order of gelato needed to be sent back, it was inedible. Only one wait person for entire dining room. Might go back again, but not during restaurant week."

  • "Normally a destination for a great dinner, brunch last Sunday was a disappointment. Service was spotty, main dishes did not come out at the same time (they were barely warm when they did), and the cappuccino machine was on the fritz. Our waiter was either having a bad day or was practicing to be a doctor with no bedside manner. We have dined here many times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, but bringing friends for the first time for a leisurely Sunday meal hardly impressed them. This restaurant can do better."

  • "We take a week off for restaurant week. Nina's does not post menu. Went due to bad local weather. Does not compare in food, menu or service to others on list. Charging for each coke is a disgrace. Been. There before with uneven performance. Off the list, I,ll go to a diner instead no noise level except for deliveries since we were dining alone"

  • "We were in the area and checked for a restaurant that was close by and Nina's popped up. They had good reviews so we gave them a try. We ordered the Terrine appetizer and it was outstanding. The Coco Vin and Halibut special were equally delicious. We can't wait to go back."

  • "The find was just that a find. The location was great and we were seated promptly, It was a Sunday, will go back on a different day to test that, but the Roasted Oysters were superb, of the 6 people at the table 5 said they were the best they ever ate. My steak was very well cooked and the presentation of the food was beyond reproach. Our server/waitress was very friendly and knowlegable about the menu..to me that is very very important in helping us make our food decisions.Would recommend it to anyone."

  • "The food and ambiance was excellent. I do have one pet peeve however,I do not like when the wait staff attempts to become involved in a conversation that the diners are having. It is intrusive and does not add to the dining experience."
    Dined on 3/3/2014
  • "The wine list is amazing, the service is consistently great (though the kitchen can be a bit slow at times), and most importantly, the food is fantastic. There is always a great selection of daily specials to entice those who inexplicably, can't find something of interest on the standard dinner menu. My only complaint is that they haven't had their amazing profiteroles in stock the past 3 times i've been there."

  • "The food and ambiance was terrific. Excellent. Would recommend highly."

  • "we have been here many times and the food never disappoints. the service though, has gone down hill. something always seems to go wrong, whether they forget to bring our drinks, or take 25 minutes to get a cup of coffee. if their front of house was as consistent as the back of house, ninas would be dynamite."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "The food was good, the service distracted, the bill too high. I think Nina's thinks the zip code is 10021 not 10940. The room was so dark I needed to go out to the bar to read the menu."
    Dined on 1/15/2014
  • "Eclectic and diverse menu featuring a good mix of meat and seafood. Good drink menu, wine list and beer. Service could have been better although I would still return as the food was excellent and would like to determine if service was a one night event."

  • "This was our first time dining in a resturant of this caliber, I will highly recommend to friends and family as well becomming a regular is in our future plans. The service was fantastic and the food was absolutely mind blowing. We enjoyed the vast selection of wine and beverage choices. Thank You for the awesome experience."

  • "We met some friends at Nina's this past weekend, it started off with us having reservations but still having to wait for a half hour. Our waitress was friendly enough. She took our order, one plate came out wrong. She did her best to accomadate and bring the right meal quickly although it took her awhile to refill our drinks. When the bill came we paid with a credit card, she came back saying the card was declined. Come to find out she had closed out another table on our card hoping we would in turn pay with cash, we assume to pocket it. The manager had conveniently left for the evening and it seemed the waitresses were trying to pull a fast one on their customers. We have been coming here for years but that was our last time."

  • "had reservations for 6:15 p.m. saturday night, were going to a show nearby where we had to be out of the restaurant by 7:30 more than enough time,or so you'd think. we were seated promptly, then sat for about 30 minutes, with no menu's and no one coming by to ask if we want drinks, etc. Finally after stopping one of the staff, after another several minutes a waitress comes over and brings menus. barely have time to read the menu, listen to the specials and put an order in. Never asked if wanted anything to drink by the way. After placing order, told that entrees cant be fired until appetizers come out. We have ten miutes to eat and then run to theater. Can't even say if food was good as had no time to taste it, although leftovers were good"

  • "we had 5:45 reservation. had comedy club nearby at 8pm. we ordered a bottle each of red and white wine. after quite a bit of time they came back with several other choices of white as they were out of the bottle we ordered. My husband asked if these new choices were comparable price wise to what we ordered, they said yes. When we got the bill the new wine was twice as expensive. They never brought bread for at least an hour. then we finally ordered, and it took another very long time to get appetizers. For our main course we had to ask them to hurry up and bring it out because of our 8pm show. They did get it out after that, but we were gobbling it down to get to the show. Food was very good, but service pretty poor!!"

  • "The food is prepared perfectly, I highly recommend their Calamari Fritte, Grilled Rack of Lamb, & especially loved their Tuscan Filet Tartufo - absolutely the best filet mignon I've ever had, it seems to melt in your mouth with the most delicious flavor. The setting is also special, it has a cozy feeling yet also has a fun, hip bar area. I've recently moved up to the area from Brooklyn & am so glad I found a place in Orange County that I really like & don't have to travel to the city for good food & atmosphere. I can't wait to go back!!"

  • "had been to Nina's numerous times for dinner. the food was always delicious though a little pricey. When i heard that Nina's also served brunch on sunday I was anxious to try.. My husband not so much. we were finally able to do brunch with friends. After months of waiting to go,I can finally cross it off my bucket list. I am looking forward to returning again"

  • "As always, we enjoyed our night out at Nina's. We do only go once a year because the food is expensive, but I'm not complaining because it is well worth it! My only issue was that the crowd at the bar was very rowdy the night we went which cut down on our one on one talk time because we could hardly hear over them."

  • "I always anticipate a wonderful dining experience at this upscale restaurant. The ambiance, service ,the menu are top notch, but the chef's specialties are always outstanding. The latest dining experience left me and my guest, speechless. Starting with an appetizer of roasted oyster's covered in a light, mouthwatering spinach and jalapeno sauce that left us wanting more. Next, was a poached pear and goat cheese salad. A perfect choice. For our entree's, my guest ordered the classic Steak Frit's (which is a favorite of mine, here) that was perfectly prepared and enjoyed. I opted for the NY strip special smothered in a roasted pepper, onion(?), chipolte sauce over mashed potatoes that were "to die for". Best thing(s) I ever ate!"

  • "Nina's has a very pleasant enviorment and our server was very helpful and knew the menu well. Prices comparable to a manhatten restaurant however, worth it if you live near by. No tolls, no gas and no mileage in a nice venue. Would recommend highly for people who live near by and want a nicer place to eat."

  • "Great menu. Delicious food. The sword fish special was excellent. Nice to be able to talk during dinner and actually hear without straining. The old sand blasted brick walls brought me back in time. Definitely fit for a return engagement."

  • "The bottle of wine I ordered was priced at $40.00 on the menu and we were charged $45.00 Food and service was very good."

  • "I booked a table on open table. Our table was waiting for us. The feeling you get when you sit down is that of a big city restaurant. brick wall like downtown N.Y. It is a bit crowded not terrible. I had a few people brush my chair passing our table. We were 3 adults and 3 teens. The food is geared toward adult tastes. Our drinks and appetizers came quickly. The oysters were fresh and delicious raw and cooked alike. The fondue and chicken Cascadia delish! Drinks, I like Merlot I'm not picky, A Margarita was disappointingly made with a mix instead of fresh. Not acceptable IMHO. The beers are smaller then usual. Food, Osso Bucco was great as was the Salmon, short ribs, Tuna and Pork dishes. Too much to eat no for Dessert. $365 with tip."

  • "Run, dont walk to Nina's. When we are in this area of the States Nina is a must-do. In fact we pick Middletown as the first stop on our Road trip so we can go to Nina's. Never disappointed."

  • "I love most of all about this place is the lighting! The crowd is very laid back and I live that. Food is amazing and service is right in top of things. I'm a continuing customer and always choose Nina's for my special nite out."

  • "As usual, the food at Nina is very good, but the quality of service is not as good as it once was. Our server was wonderful and very apologetic, but from the start everything was very slow-especially for a not packed, Thursday night. It took our party of three at least 20 minutes to get a round of drinks-two cocktails and a glass of wine. The server apologized for the long wait for drinks and that there was no bread ready to bring out. Our appetizers were also slow to arrive. Bread finally came out with our dinners. At dessert, two in the party asked for caramel sauce on the side and the server came back to say there was only enough for one dessert - which didn't come out until the desserts were almost gone. Disappointing visit."

  • "Warm and relaxed atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, duck empanadas had a spicy kick with sweet undertones, and the filet of sole with risotto roasted red peppers and artichoke was savory and satisfying. Leave the kiddies at home, put on your glad rags and enjoy!"
