Diner Reviews
  • "The food was delicious, our waiter Michael was very cool and the view was awesome, so it was a great idea to invite my girlfriend to a romantic dinner out there"

  • "We first tried Nikita when we were in Malibu visiting friends, but now... now we'll cross the Orange Curtain - and LA - just to satisfy the craving. This is what all restaurants should be: incredible ambiance, excellent service, memorable food, an interesting wine list and impeccable craft cocktails)."

  • "Distinctly Average menu... Lots of staff.. (Too many?) and not much ambience. Maybe it's better at night..."
    Dined on 7/25/2014
  • "Pretentious staff, Slow service, 4 dinners pasta was micro waved, Chicken, Risotto and scallops all over salted best to spend your money else where."

  • "My friends and I went there thinking we we going to have Mediterranean food and looking forward to it!!! There's nothing Mediterranean about this restaurant except they offer a few very overpriced dishes of fish. We were also charged for things that we did not order and the waiter had to take them off the menu. Will not be going back there."

  • "nice resturant, the food is just ok, service is not that good! it took so long for them to get the order, we had constantly ask for the waiter to come to our table. it's a beautiful place, small portions, i want crazy for food, we went there on sunday at 6 pm"

  • "The only good thing about this restaurant is that it has a wonderful view because it sits right on the shores of Malibu. The food, however is way toooooo expensive for the quality they serve. Ex: not great, very very petit, filet for $52.00. $26.00 for 6 slices of prosciutto? Overall, will not go there again. I can get a great view of the ocean somewhere else and not be taken."

  • "My friend and I were celebrating our birthdays, with our husbands on Saturday night. I made the reservation online, one month before the date, and then called the restaurant to tell them that it would be our Big birthday 70 yrs old. They called and emailed to remind me of the reservation and to verify that it was going to be our celebration. We had requested the patio, but when we arrived it was raining. They graciously found a table upstairs that was so perfect. We had this room to ourselves - with a fireplace burning and the gorgeous ocean view. The dinner was excellent and they gave us a sampling of deserts, with 2 candles, for our birthday. It was a very special night and the service and location was perfect."

  • "The only thing I would suggest would be to have a bigger portion on the ravioli! It was delicious and I wish I had more of it!!"

  • "Food is just not great. it is pretty bland. But beautiful view. Just would never pay those prices for mediocre food again. Dont care how great the view is."

  • "Sat night at 7pm and it was busy, but there were some empty tables. Service was very spotty, our ravioli app was so salty we had to send it back, entree were all okay - not great. Go for the view, but don't expect great food. Nobu next door was jam packed."

  • "I can't really rate the food because we were there for two hours & never got our entrees. The appetizers we had were way overpriced ($25 to 40 for appetizers) and just okay. Not much on the menu was appealing. The waiter kept trying to upsell us which was annoying. When we sat down he asked if we would like the crudite. I presumed it was complimentary like bread. Each of us got a tiny bowl with half a celery stick, half a carrot stick, half a cucumber stick and two teeny radishes with some olive oil. It cost $21! After 2 hours of listening to obnoxious electronic music and being hungry we finally left. When the waiter gave us the check there was no apology or explanation. The location is beautiful but I recommend Nobu next door."

  • "This restaurant is right beside Nobu of Malibu and looks almost identical (we were told it is the same architect). The food was great although the portions are quite small. There is a large busy outdoor patio with spectacular views of Malibu and the ocean. There are heating lamps and blankets available on a cool night. We sat at a quiet table for 2 along the edge of the patio that offered fabulous views and quiet dining experience. Would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "My boyfriend and I went out to celebrate and I found this place. It has such an amazing atmosphere with a knowledgable staff. They took the time to explain the food and wine and were very prompt. We dined outside and the lighting was perfect and the heat lamps were at a perfect temperature where I didn't have to put on my coat. The food was amazing! I had the gnocchi and it was cooked perfectly and was not to heavy. I am a vegetarian and the veal looked so darn good I had to try a bite! The dessert with the dill ice cream is a strange and genius idea with so much flavor and not being to heavy after eating an appetizer and and entrée. I love it here! I would highly recommend it for a date or just to have a veery relaxing elegant atmosphere."

  • "SO SO FOOD. PORTIONS ARE SCANTY AND NOT WELL DESCRIBED ON THE MENU. PARKING IS POSSIBLY A PROBLEM AT BUSY HOURS AS IT IS ON A VERY BUSY PART OF PACIFIC COAST HIWAY AND HAS A SMALL ENTRANCE AND EXIT AREA TO THIS BUSY HIWAY."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Went to celebrate my birthday and was not disappointed! Food was amazing. Craft cocktails the perfect touch while watching the sun set from our rail side table. Heaters to keep you warm, and they even have blankets if you need them. Can't wait to go back and relax on the patio at a firepit table and sip some wine!"

  • "The restaurant and location are great.. The food was pretty good, but not great. The portion sizes are small, which would be fine if this was a tapas restaurant, but they are not tapas.. The preparation was pretty good, but nothing notable.. I thought that our waiter tried too hard too... Overall it was pretty good, and the ambiance was gorgeous, so I gave it four stars, but it was not great.."

  • "I have been here a few times. Last Saturday had promised my daughter from NYC Id take her. No hitches other than the Filet was tough. Should not have ordered that there. But everything else was tasty. Loved the appetizers. Loved the ocean although they cannot take credit for that! Every time I have been it's a little older Malibu crowd."

  • "Beatiful place on the beach in Malibu, but tables in sun without umbrellas, very expensive and food is not worth the price."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "The menu has changed and not necessarily for the better. Most of the proteins are the same and it is very limited for the size of the restaurant/ Service has gotten better and the view is still spectacular. Everyone is very nice. Wish they kept the Ravioli Carbonara"

  • "I keep going back to Nikita. The atmosphere, service and food is unparalleled! The couches on the bar deck are so comfy. It's peaceful, romantic and absolutely beautiful!!!"

  • "This was my first time experiencing Nikita-Malibu. Obviously, the Carbon beach location and superb construction is fantastic. However, I found the hostess staff and bar staff to be lacking in the service areas. We arrived 30 minutes early prior to our 7.30pm reservation and had a drink at the bar. The hostess said she would come get us when our table was ready. 2 drinks later and its 7.45 we still have not gotten a table. Meanwhile, 6 others were seated in this same period. This was a WEDNESDAY night and it was not busy. I travel and routinely stay at Ritz Carlton hotels. The service, especially for the prices charged, should be at this level. Our server was great but overall lots of staff that seemed to have "better things to do"."

  • "Excellent, romantic place with fantastic ocean view. One of the best in town for outdoor dining quite fit for foodies. Very good, unobtrusive service."

  • "We were so looking forward to it after dining at Nobu recently. 8:15 p res, got there early-no bar seating (lovely couches were "reserved") empty tables everywhere. Made us wait until resevation time. Sat us inside (had requested outside and there were seats available) Service was not pleasant at all. Food was fine, everything was fine, nothing was outstanding. It was very pricey and totally not worth it. Gorgeous view. They were seemingly very full of themselves (all of the staff) and I'm just not interested in spending $500 for attitude. Save your money or go to Nobu. At least their food is excellent."

  • "My place for special occasions in our family. Celebrating a birthday and it was disappointing. To spend this kind of money, the service should be impeccable. The reception when first greeted was horrible. Very rude, unwelcoming, and arrogant young women were bothered when I announced our reservation. Who are they to treat people this way? The first impression is always the most important. I thought I was at Nobu. Waiter was wonderful. We sat outside. Beautiful view, but the heater had no propane after 3 requests for it to be turned on. Food was ok. Not superior for the price. It was a let down. Not our usual experience or memory. Very disappointed in the evening. I don't think anyone noticed or cared."

  • "The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the view. The restaurant is poorly managed. The service is poor and the food is tasteless. This is a tourist spot versus a true foodie local restaurant. I should have paid closer attention to the reviews before I made my reservation. I will not make that mistake again. This was a complete waste of a night out for dinner."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "If you are looking for a romantic place for an special occasion, Nikita is it! We went there for lunch and our table was right next to ocean! (or it felt that way!) The beach was under us and the waves were crashing to the shore! It was beautiful and zen! If we go back again I would like to be there for the sunset!!"
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Friendly, helpful staff. The food was to die for. Location could not be more beautiful: the waves crash practically underneath you."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Beautiful location and atmosphere right next to wonderful Nobu but yikes unlike it's neighbor the food was very unimpressive, ordinary and down right bad. For some reason our party ended up with a free seafood pasta to sample and still couldn't shake off the continuous tasteless cuisine. The best part of the dining experience was the free bread and I guess you can say our wine! Don't let the sticker shock of your bill kick you on your way out while just having experience such s disappointing dinner. Beware foodies, good luck to the chef and Nikita!"

  • "over priced, wait staff is inexperienced. The wait staff uniforms look like they are from the 70's, very strange look for Southern California. Old college preppy look."
    Dined on 6/11/2014
  • "We enjoyed the experience of out door dining, however the food was too expensive for it's quality (ordinary), took too long to arrive and the service was was good but not excellent."

  • "We came here Saturday night to celebrate a win for him at work. The hostess was distracted and unprofessional, refusing to answer our questions about lounge seating outside, as we waited for our dinner reservations, saying she "wasn't allowed to answer questions." When we were seated, at the worst table in the house, the server was either very new, or he was also distracted and unprofessional. We had to keep asking other servers or busboys to find him. We ordered drinks and appetizers - he kept taking the menus away after we said that we were going to order entrees and another round of drinks. We had to hunt him down to ask for a dessert menu. Very disappointing on what should have been a very happy occasion for my husband."

  • "Great staff, great location. Food was not overpriced at all, but it didn't dance in your pallet either. The lobster is diced so tiny in the pasta that it might as well be popcorn shrimp. The cauliflower was cut so tiny and bland that it misses a zing you find elsewhere. Nikita is wonderful experience, truly. But they will have to up the food game if they expect to stay in business for the long run."

  • "I was a little apprehensive in choosing this restaurant. It was recommended by my nephew, but the reviews on Yelp were not good. I decided to go since it was a beautiful day to sit by the ocean. We had a great waiter; and the food was excellent. We brought our own champagne (they have corkage fee of $35); and I was glad that I did since the champagne I brought was three times the price I paid for it (not surprising in L.A.). You cannot beat the view, since the restaurant sits right at the base of the ocean. Burrata appetizer was delicious; scallops were yummy; and homemade gnocchi (which I am usually not a fan) was surpisingly very light."

  • "I would recommend this restaurant based on its location to friends with the following reservations. Staff were polite and knowledgeable but very slow and disjointed - our 2 course meal took almost 3 hours. Food was good but overpriced. "

  • "The Malibu beach location is fabulous and the restaurant was beautiful, but the food was terrible. My branzino was over-cooked and my friend's fish was mostly tasteless. I don't usually write reviews, but for those prices, we expected more. Something is wrong, as the restaurant next door was packed and Nikita was empty. Bring back Pierview!!!!!!!! "
