A word from Nighttown
Named after the Dublin Red-Light District in James Joyce's Ulysses, Nighttown possesses the ambiance of Irish pubs and turn of the century New York bars. Leaded, etched, and stained glass, combined with a clutter of memorabilia from earlier eras decorate the four distinctly different dining rooms and three active bars. Be sure to see Stephen's Green, our outdoor dining area (fully-heated for year-round use) with a wall-size waterfall. Since opening day, February 5, 1965, the menu has been a model of consistency. Top quality Certified Angus Beef, milk -fed veal, and the freshest of fish and chicken are prepared with creative simplicity. Try our house specialty, The Dublin Lawyer.   • "We went to Night Town on Friday and had a great time. The service was excellent even there was a jaz band performance and the place was full. I had the prime rib which was very tasty and a reasonable portion. Mussels for the apetizer were perfect. To top it off, we heard the West Point Jazz Knights band perform and they were over the top in skill and sound. what a fun evening."

  • "Old world elegance and style with fantastic food. We went for brunch with friends before the Sunday matinee. The Dublin Lawyer was amazing. Lobster in a whiskey cream over rice pilaf...amazing. Belgian waffles crispy with a pillowy center and wonderful bacon. I will definitely go again."

  • "Although I know most of the wait-staff is efficient, I don't feel that a 19% gratuity should automatically be included in the bill for a party of 2 or less for table service. I tip based upon the service and don't feel that when service is NOT good , a server should be "rewarded" for a job poorly done. I would never NOT leave a gratuity , but don't like being forced to do so!"

  • "We booked our reservations on line through open table when we arrived the hostess acknowledged that it was our anniversary. I had stated in the reservation that it was our 24th anniversary and we met each other at Night town! The service was poor and they sat us next two a family of 5 with a 2 year old who screamed the whole dinner. The waiter did not once mention our special occasion. The Dublin Lawyer has grown smaller in size, but was very good. My husband's dinner was a special of Halibut for $23 and was very small. Sorry but we should of booked elsewhere."

  • "My interest in Nighttown is the music, which is outstanding, though I appreciate the good food. My experience this visit was frustrating. I tried to make a reservation for the show online, intending to pay with credit card, and was unsuccessful. Perhaps it was already sold out, but there was no sold out notice that appeared. The only reservation that your system seemed to permit was for dinner, so I did that--in a previous visit, reserved by phone, I had been told that the show and dinner were linked. Not so, it turned out. So I left. I have been enthusiastically plugging Nighttown on a local website I manage (in Erie, PA). Now I'm not so sure."

  • "Every Clevelander knows of Nighttown & their stellar jazz reputation, but lets talk about the grub! Wow!!! I have not been here in long while & after READING the specials (some of Nighttown's 'go-tos' still on the menu), I knew I was in for a culinary treat! Duck Confit or Snapper? I went with the Duck-Home Run!!! Our food was so impressive, we are currently booking a large private party with them (...and I cannot wait to show-off this great restaurant to friends & family) THIS ISN'T MY PARENTS NIGHTTOWN... its better!"

  • "One of my all time favorites since moving to Cleveland(15 years ago) . Food is consistently delicious! The only reason I did not give the service excellent was because the place was packed and we finished one course before our waitress made it back to the table to be sure everything was ok. We were there for a performance by Blue Lunch and Long Tall Deb. Wait staff did an extraordinary job in maneuvering between the tables. Brussels sprouts salad was unique and outstanding!! Beef Carpaccio may have been the best I had ever had! Hats off to the staff and plan to return soon. Can't wait for the patio to open!!"

  • "Service was slow, but the food was good and worth the wait. My friends enjoyed the lobster pot pie and burger. The steaks were delicious. The mixed drinks were not very good - too heavy on the cranberry (cosmo) and too much vermouth in the martini."

Combined with the live music that happened to be going on as well, made for an overall wonderful and romantic experience. My date and I both agreed we will be back. Also, get the Dublin Lawyer. It is absolutely fantastic."

  • "waiter was unpleasant and not friendly, picked up menu from the floor and placed on the plate with food without looking, salad was from last week perhaps, salmon was raw(I wasn't asking for sushi) and without me agreeing to "cooking it more" took the plate and brought the salmon back. really? do you know what smile looks like, pleasant attentive service. I guess there was a reason I wasn't coming back for 7 years"

  • "The restaurant is AWESOME if you love quaint and cozy! The ambience is just right; however, the service doesn't represent the place at all! When I called to confirm my online reservations, the person answered very annoyed and bothered! She gave me very short and kirt answers! Did not seem interested in my patronage at all! So I called back later and got a different person with the same attitude but this person placed me on hold first."

  • "I went here for my birthday. Had a party of 13. We were seated right away which impressed me. We waited about 10 minutes before our server took our drink orders. It took about 15 min to receive our drinks & the glasses our drinks came in were not clean. There were several large parties (about 60 ppl total) yet there was only one server. She couldn't handle it alone. We waited nearly 30 min to order our food and about just as long to receive it. It also took a very long time to receive our checks and we waited nearly 20 min for our change/cards. The live music was nice as was the scenery, but I wasn't impressed with the service or the food. The only thing that made this place stand out was the heated outdoor patio with fireplace."

  • "Food was just OK. The specials on the table were from the night before and we had to change our choice when we went to order. Steak was tough and vegetables were bland. Service and attention was good. We were in the outdoor heated patio.Several large groups. One group was standing for quite a while, and while not near our table, they were on top of another couple which seemed very rude."

  • "The whole roasted artichoke. Served warm along side drawn butter and lemon wedges it was perfectly executed and blissful. We ordered the Flat Iron and the Faroe Island Salmon as mains. Flat Iron (rare) perfectly cooked warm red wine demi glace was amazing.. Salmon was moist yet charred nicely on the outside, served along side a herb gnocchi and broccoli and drizzled in Lobster Bisque (decadent). The gnocchi is a nice compliment except this was way overcooked..and the broccoli ..three small florets fell short. I would order again ..just for the lobster bisque... which was amazing and I was surprised wasn't on the regular menu."

  • "We had an 8:15pm reservation and were not seated until after 10pm. When our appetizer arrived, it was delicious until we found broken glass in our dish. The waitress took it back to the chef and she came back to say it was just plastic... They gave us free desserts to make up for it. The menu was a nice variety and food was served quickly, but no plans to go back."

  • "This place is in dire need of a remodel. It looks like the furnishing have been there since the 80's. There was yellow tape on a stained glass ceiling light filling in for missing pieces and also duct tape on the ceiling. The waitress wasn't friendly and did paid very little attention to our order. I guess it's not entirely all her fault since she was waiting everybody else in the room 8 other tables. This place tends to attract the older crowd 40-60's; my wife and I are in our 20's so we felt a little out of place. Food was ok I would say slightly overpriced considering everything. On a positive note the bread basket was good. I do not plan on coming back."

  • "Hostess claimed they were running 10-15 minutes behind. We sat at the bar for 30 minutes, w/ an awful glass of wine (tasted like the dregs of 3 different bottles dumped in) and an ok martini. Rechecked w/ hostess who finally admitted that all of the Open Table reservations were not going to be honored; the system was supposed to cut them off due to a special event ... but hadn't. Do you think she could have just been up front about it at the start? We went up the street to VERO pizza and enjoyed a meal there instead. This is not the first time I've had a negative experience at Nighttown - the staff don't really seem to care enough about whether the guests are happy or being taken care of appropriately."

  • "My Sister in-law and I had Sunday Bruch and the food and service were AWESOME. We say in a room by ourselves and we were able to talk as much as sisters do ... and had a wonderful time. When I return to Cleveland in the future I will defiantly eat here again. I may even be able to enjoy the music in the evening!"

  • "This is very unique restaurant and you either going to like it or not. The restaurant is not really my style, but I enjoy it once a year. I think it’s better to attend during the night concert because it makes the atmosphere that much special. I’m not crazy about the food choice and the chairs are a little uncomfortable for me, but the overall atmosphere is pleasant and enjoyable."

  • "We went for a late dinner on New Years eve. Service was a little slow and not totally attentive. Dining room was empty but bar was packed. The room was quiet which was good for conversation, but it would have been better if a little music was piped in (there was a live show in the restaurant). Gratuity was already added into check which might be why service was not as we expected. Of the 4 diners in our party 3 of us thought our meals were delicious."

  • "NIghttown has been around for a long time...and with good reason. It is consistently a great spot for dinner, brunch, a late night snack or drink... Our dinners were excellent. Had not had their veal meatloaf for a while, but it was terrific comfort food as always. My wife's chicken was just right, moist and tender, flavorful and warm. Servers were attentive without being intrusive. A wonderful Irish pub restaurant."

  • "We had dinner with a party of 8 for NYE. Nothing was bad about our experience, but nothing was really good either. We have been there other times with better food experiences. Most individuals in our group got a steak, and not one person thought that their meal was great. It was just average...which made it seem overpriced."

  • "I have always enjoyed Nighttown; I have had a few special events there, have had brunch there, have sat on their wonderful patio in good weather. I haven't been there for dinner for a while, though. Apparently they have a new chef who has updated the menu, keeping most of the tried and true items. It was very good! I had the scallop special; the scallops were sweet and properly seared, the "rice" was almost like wheat berries with very good flavor and tooth. The brussel sprouts had very good flavor but were a little soft for my taste. My companion had the prime rib which has never disappointed. The service was very good. I will go back to Nighttown soon! I also am so glad they are now on Open Table!"

Ordered the Dublin Lawyer as usual - I had not been to Nighttown in some time however the entree was just as delicious as I remembered. Finished with the panna cotta as our server suggested since we were quite full. The perfect ending."
