A word from Nighttown
Named after the Dublin Red-Light District in James Joyce's Ulysses, Nighttown possesses the ambiance of Irish pubs and turn of the century New York bars. Leaded, etched, and stained glass, combined with a clutter of memorabilia from earlier eras decorate the four distinctly different dining rooms and three active bars. Be sure to see Stephen's Green, our outdoor dining area (fully-heated for year-round use) with a wall-size waterfall. Since opening day, February 5, 1965, the menu has been a model of consistency. Top quality Certified Angus Beef, milk -fed veal, and the freshest of fish and chicken are prepared with creative simplicity. Try our house specialty, The Dublin Lawyer. And Nighttown has the best jazz available - in fact, we're the only club in Ohio on Down Beat's list of The Best Jazz Clubs in the World.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Very enjoyable long-established Cleveland spot. Imaginative menu and great bar. Large club room with entertainment (ticketed events). Campy interiors and also a covered patio."

  • "Our food was delicious. The bar area is a bit outdated and it feels a little claustrophobic inside. We sat out on the patio which was nice. Waitresses attended to our needs and I didn't have to flag anyone down for more drinks or food. I would go back."

  • "It was a nice evening, but very busy. We waited 20 mins to get seated, and our server only came back to check on us once. We had tickets for the show, but it was tight and cramped. I was more bothered by the so-so service."

  • "We showed up on a very very busy night surrounded by weddings ,, young folks smoking and enjoying life. and we had a lovely quiet table for two with an overworked waitress who did a perfect job, great service and with a smile. Oh, and btw, the food was delicious..."

  • "good food and jazz over priced drinks, including cheap wines sold at triple the price"

  • "Love this place for its friendly staff awesome food and music and it's incredible three patios particularly the dog friendly pet patio that the owner gives free bacon to dogs on"

  • "Dined for supper on July 4 and it was delicious. Returned for Sunday Brunch and it was wonderful. The staff are a little rushed, but it was a holiday. They were all very kind and remembered me. This is a huge venue offerring food, music, spirits and conversation. Its both a neighborhood tavern, a jazz club, a rock concert and an elegant brunch al fresco. And so much more....don't be shy...just ask and the staff will let you know which space to go to!"

  • "Dinner on the 4th of July was really nice until the singer came on the patio. It was intrusive. I come to Nighttown often to hear specific jazz artists, and then it is fine when you are inside. That being said, the food was very good. The Faroe Islands salmon was excellent, perfectly cooked with lobster bisque sauce, a winning combination for me. Friends had prime rib and the halibut and were very happy with their choices. If you love asparagus, I recommend the chilled asparagus salad (with lemon infused oil, red radish and marcona almonds). Friends raved about the wedge salad. I love the patio, but it I prefer to leave the music in the club section of the restaurant."

  • "The open patio really makes dining a joy - too noisy on the enclosed patio. Thanks for the lovely addition"

  • "We have been going to Night Town for over 30 yrs and never tire of it. Old standbuys such as sauted trout, Dublin Lawyer Bangers and Mash are always there and delicious, beef is prepared as you like it and deserts are freshly made. New arrivals on; the menue keep things interesting. NT is truely a neighborhood institution."

  • "Place has so much potential, but let's down every time"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Horrible service. Waiters being understaffed is one thing, but when they can't even come around to acknowledge you or thank you for your patience or indicate they'd be right with you then it becomes simply rude. Waited over 20+ mins for drinks. It wasn't until I proactively went to find our waiter to let him know we had been waiting for him to take our drink order that he finally came over. It was even worse to look around and see people w the same reactions and experience. Couple next to us got the wrong check and others were waiting to be acknowledged for their drinks as well. It's a shame bc the place has potential. It's got a lot of character and interesting seating areas especially by the brick wall waterfall. I hope they make changes."

  • "The food here is really great and unique, however every time we go, the service is unbelievably terrible. We were there for 2 hours just for brunch! It took 30 minutes just to get some bread to the table. We also brought our baby and I had to ask the waitress if they could possibly bring his grilled cheese a little faster after waiting 45 minutes (he was not happy). Their lobster specials however are delicious."

  • "The food was great and our server was excellent. We had a 7 yr old with us, who we are trying to teach how to dine out - our server took time with her through all her changing wants!! Have been a fan of this place since the 70's --- keep the Jazz coming!"

  • "It is no accident that Nighttown has thrived for so long. While the menu has many standard favorites, they do things very well indeed. Our corned beef hash was among the best we have found. While the Louisiana salad is down-sized from what it used to be, it is still fresh and delicious. Stephen's Green is a lovely spot for a Sunday brunch. Service is sometimes brusque, but they accommodate your requests without a fuss."

  • "We had the early bird special as we were on the way to a symphony performance, and it was an outstanding value! their prime rib is wonderful!"

  • "I went here with 17 people to celebrate a college graduation. They were incredibly accommodating and wonderful to work with. My father really wanted to sit outside so that he could more easily hear everyone, and they happily sat us outside (even though the temperature outside was too chilly for everyone else!). The food was fantastic, the service excellent, and I really enjoyed my time. I've been a few times before, and this is typical — just a very well-run restaurant where you can take almost anyone."

  • "The seating is always tight, but we arrived at 6:30 and were seated in the the front of the concert room, which had clearly had additional seating added for the 8:30 band, or perhaps the band's area was created by simply jamming all of the existing tables closer together. At 7:30, it was clear that the wait staff was ready for us to leave. They seemed overwhelmed and were getting careless with their delivery and removal of food and drinks. Water was dripped down my wife's back by our waiter. The food was merely acceptable, and the experience did not leave one planning their next visit. We left before 8pm and were happy to get out of the crowded room. Our previous visits have been better overall experiences."

  • "Great birthday lunch with 4 friends. Server was terrific and great menu selection and preparation. Also love its dinner menu, jazz club and Sunday brunch...individual brunch selections, which I like...I'm not a breakfast/brunch buffet person. My husband and I and friends have been going to Nighttown for over 40 years...and it gets better every time we're there. Going back for brunch with a friend on Sunday."

  • "The atmosphere was great the food had a good taste butthe price did not meet my portion expectations. I would have enjoyed spending 100 dollars and had left overs than leave minus 100 dollars and still hungry."

  • "Overall good experience however I was disappointed the hostess did not honor our request for patio seating when it was specifically requested on my open table reservation. We had to ASK to be seated on the patio and our request was subsequently granted. "

  • "Nighttown is not a gourmet restaurant, but they do a very good job at what they do. Mother's Day brunch is probably one of the busiest times for Nighttown, as their Sunday Brunches are always very popular; they did a very good job at preparing the food and providing truly excellent service. We were very fortunate to be able to sit outside on their beautiful patio. we are lucky to have Nighttown in Cleveland Heights!"

  • "What a find. Been around since 1965 and I can see why. Had the house cured salmon for an app and the waitress recommended Dublin Lawyer which was one of the best dishes I've eaten in a restaurant anywhere. The place was jam packed and I mentioned to my Wife that I think overall for food , ambience and service this must be the best restaurant in Cleveland hands down "

  • "The hanger steak was tough and my husband was unable to enjoy it. We made reservations and were scrunched in a small table for two since there was jazz going on. We also celebrated our anniversary here. Food is average at best. I ordered the halibut and it had no taste at all. Use to be are favorite.now not so much."

  • "My date and I did not have the chance to dine-in. After making reservations days before, we made it right on time, on the day of. But darn-it, the water line broke and the restaurant was shut down. They said it happened at 5:15pm and our reservation was at 7:00pm. Darn it, we were so close. But the young lady and gentleman outside near the porta potties were sincerely apologetic and said to come back. They said they were obligated to tend a private party in the back. That's why they had porta potties outside for them. Thank god they were thinking!!! However, we did end up going to Barroco in Lakewood, Ohio and it was wonderful too. Hopefully, we'll catch you next time!! Luv ya!"

  • "We tried vegetarian options for the first time at Nighttown and they were as delicious as the rest of the food options. We loved the first two desserts we ordered so much that we went back for a third."

  • "I was recommended to go here from the OpenTable app for a first date. When we arrived the atmosphere was electric, the people were friendly including their lady bartender. When we checked in with the hostess she was very rude and didn't speak to us for 5 solid minutes the bartender was more helpful then she was and she looked very busy. When we got seated our server was perfect, she knew the menu and even selected the wine for me which I loved!!!!, she was funny, personal and I would recommend This place on her service alone. I loved the place but would of loved a more romantic table for 2, but beggers can't be choosers on a busy Saturday night. so I was happy all the way around would come back again and again. "

  • "We remembered the great aged steaks of years ago and expected to find the same on the menu, no luck, the prime rib was acceptable but not very tender. our waitress, Susie was very busy with a large table of 20-22 students, service was not good. asked 3 times for more coffee and twice for a wine list. If it wasn't for the great band the evening would have been a bust. will not be back. Started coming to NT in 1970 when I attended WRU night school on the GI Bill, had great steaks and drinks then."

  • "Service was horrible. We had to tell the waitress that we were ready to order. She forgot my fiancé's drink, and when she finally realized, it took forever and it was not the right one. The food was mediocre at best. Given the price point, this was not a good experience."

  • "We went to Night Town on Friday and had a great time. The service was excellent even there was a jaz band performance and the place was full. I had the prime rib which was very tasty and a reasonable portion. Mussels for the apetizer were perfect. To top it off, we heard the West Point Jazz Knights band perform and they were over the top in skill and sound. what a fun evening."

  • "Old world elegance and style with fantastic food. We went for brunch with friends before the Sunday matinee. The Dublin Lawyer was amazing. Lobster in a whiskey cream over rice pilaf...amazing. Belgian waffles crispy with a pillowy center and wonderful bacon. I will definitely go again."

  • "Although I know most of the wait-staff is efficient, I don't feel that a 19% gratuity should automatically be included in the bill for a party of 2 or less for table service. I tip based upon the service and don't feel that when service is NOT good , a server should be "rewarded" for a job poorly done. I would never NOT leave a gratuity , but don't like being forced to do so!"

  • "We booked our reservations on line through open table when we arrived the hostess acknowledged that it was our anniversary. I had stated in the reservation that it was our 24th anniversary and we met each other at Night town! The service was poor and they sat us next two a family of 5 with a 2 year old who screamed the whole dinner. The waiter did not once mention our special occasion. The Dublin Lawyer has grown smaller in size, but was very good. My husband's dinner was a special of Halibut for $23 and was very small. Sorry but we should of booked elsewhere."
