Diner Reviews
  • "Second time eating at Nightingale 9 and the food was just as delicious as the first. Portions seemed to be slightly larger. My date and I shared two main dishes and a side of veggies and we were stuffed! As we went on the earlier side (7:30ish) on a Friday night, the noise was more bearable. We also asked to be and were seated by the front window at a table for 2 versus one of the large communal tables. Overall, amazing food and a little noisy. Definitely will be back!"

  • "with a modern twist. Flavorful food, friendly attentive service. still dreaming about the crispy brussels sprouts. rice bowl was a bit mushy on one occasion but livened up with some delicious home made sauces. Would go again in a minute. great vegetarian and non vegetarian options, beverages. Yum."

  • "If you're looking for delicious, affordable Vietnamese food in a casual, neighborhood environment, make sure to go to Nightingale 9 in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. The restaurant itself is modeled to the stripped-down neighborhood restaurants of Hanoi, using reclaimed materials in the dinning room, and numbering their tables. They even have their own herb garden in the restaurant's yard."

  • "We absolutely LOVE Seersucker and Smith Canteen, and eat there frequently, so we were incredibly hopeful for our first visit to Nightingale 9. We also love Vietnamese food and have been to Vietnam as well. We had the Beef Pho, Pork Spring rolls, Caramel Pork Belly, and the wok fried veggies. Sadly, we found the food lacking in brightness and flavor and the service to be friendly but slow. It was underwhelming to put it bluntly."

  • "I would go back for the brussel sprouts alone. Best I've ever had. Great appetizers and delicious entrees. The spring rolls, the shredded chicken and brussel sprouts were a great way to start the dinner. Then, we had the beef pho and the catfish with noodles. Both were excellent. Friendly service and a neighborhood-y vibe. All of this food and a bottle of wine and the check without the tip was around $100. Definitely reasonable. Be aware that many of the tables are communal 6-person tables. We were fortunate to get the inside 2, but I'm not sure I'd want to be the couple sandwiched between 2 other couples."

  • "Everything was delicious with the exception of the Pho, which was pretty bland."

  • "My date and I came here for their Valentine's day prix fix, but if that was any indication, this is a neighborhood foodie gem!"

  • "Nightingale 9 always changes up their menu, so each time I go there I get to sample something new. One of my favorite places to eat in Brooklyn."

  • "Rice bowls were so tasty, as were the dishes with sausage. Servings are small. Good wine list--all US wines--and nice beer selection. Would totally recommend this place."

  • "A cool, casual neighborhood place that punches way above its weight in terms of the food. I've been several times and every single thing on the menu is a hit. Highly recommended."

  • "No 9 is a small neighborhood restaurant serving Vietnamese street food. It had a happy and energetic noise level. It is not fancy but all the dishes were well prepared and some were excellent- (thrice cooked pork belly, congee and the pork rinds.) . Service was friendly and our waitress patiently explained the dishes to us. They were a little slow on one dish. They didn't charge us for it and gave us a second round of drinks on the house."
