Nieuport 17French onion soup is the best!French onion soup is the best! This is a special place to bring your best clients or anyone you want to impress6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodIn a tough grader when it comes to five-star restaurants. Five stars in the Spirit of a restaurant scale means "Get between me and this fine meal at your own risk." Those are fighting words, and represent how strongly I feel about five star places! At Nieuport 17 one of the experience workers has a good nose and eyes for fine selection of food and wine. I tried a Cab 1999 vintage I forgotten the name but my wife selected it for me and it was blood red, just a glint of transparency at the edge. Aromas tumble nicely from the glass: fresh-crushed black cherries that burrow right into your brain. Just a touch of deep funk pools into an oil-slick aroma. On the palate, furry, creamy. I also caught an rush eating the beet salad.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNieuport NewsExcellent experience for special occasions like Mother's day. Very good service and wide variety of food choices5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen around a LONG timeI took my wife for our anniversary because I knew the food would be good and the ambiance was quiet and nice and cozy. We got all of these things. The one thing we didn't expect was that we would be the youngest people in there by 30-40 years.
The server was very nice but talkative. So much that sometimes it took a long time for us to get drinks or bread, etc. The kitchen was accommodating to our dietary needs. My wife is on a no gluten, no dairy diet and they brought some gluten-free bread. When we asked if there were gluten-free options on the menu, it took at least 15 minutes to come back and tell us that the chef said he would make any accommodations we needed to whichever entree we chose. That should have taken 30 - 60 seconds.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are not to excited aboutWe are not to excited about the new chef, they always have to make changes.
Their are some menue changes we disagree with.
Please go, see for yourself.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, ambience and service.Good food, ambience and service. We will return soon.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place! The crowd isGreat place! It truly is the only upscale dining experience in Tustin.
The service, ambiance, and food (Note- new menu and new CHEF Greg Moro) have given this traditional restaurant a fresh update.
The steaks (try the beef wellington) and seafood are delicious. Perfect for a date night or special occasion!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this restaurant. ItI love this restaurant. This is the Navy's O Club of the 60's and 70's brought into 2013. They really make you feel special. This is a class act!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific restaurant; greatTerrific restaurant; great service food and atmosphere. I first dined at Nieuport 17 over 30 years ago; was terrific then and is equally terrific now. Bill Bettis is to be commended for maintaining the highest quality dining experience over so many years. Today at close to 80 he still circulates among his guests to make certain everyone is pleased with the experience. Whether you like aviation or not the aviation ambiance is museum quality. In fact we spent at least 20 minutes looking at and admiring the museum quality collection of aviation art both before and after dining. All in all a very enjoyable experience; highly recommended!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, fantastic serviceGood food, fantastic service but salads were very bad!!!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWhere's the swordfish?!?!?After 35 years of frequenting Nieuport 17 restaurant for their delicious swordfish, I have sadly been notified swordfish is not on the menu any longer!!!
