  • Private Party Facilities: Nicollet Island Inn has three private/semi-private dining rooms and 2 banquet rooms. The Private Dining Room can accommodate up to 8 guests, the Captain's Room up to 13, and the Fireside Lounge up to 24. The Island room can fit 50 seated, 70 for cocktails. The St. Anthony room can fit 100 seated.

The Nicollet Island Inn has stood witness to over a century of change on the shores of the Mississippi River. The Inn is consistently named the most romantic restaurant in the area and its river views have been voted some of the best in the city. An immediately recognizable Minneapolis landmark, the Inn offers world-class cuisine created by Executive Chef Ryan Stechschulte , whose innovative and constantly updated menu includes a variety of seafood, steaks and gourmet specialty dishes. Our wine menu has been chosen specifically to compliment the food and highlight producers from the world's leading wine regions.

Nic's bar, just off the main dining room, is a casual, old-world tavern and the patio offers stunning views of the Minneapolis skyline. The Inn is a convenient, comfortable destination for breakfast or lunch meetings while the 5-course Champagne Sunday Brunch is the perfect weekend indulgence.

We have dined there before, one memory is a luncheon after my husband and I were married The experience, then and in between and Saturday were all exceptional. We felt so special from the time we entered the door. The staff is very knowledgeable about the food. We also asked to see a couple of the rooms as we want to spend a weekend there and the gentleman at the front desk was so courteous and pleasant and gave us a nice tour. If you have never been to the Nicollet Island Inn, you must visit there soon. If you have been there, be sure to get there soon. What a great experience Anita Gibson"

The food was outstanding as well, and our waiter was very attentive. It was my husband's birthday, so his dessert came with a candle!   • "We both took the $18 Sunday Brunch fixed menu. I took the quiche and gnocchi - both had great flavors. However, the quiche was not technically a quiche -- it was a small sliver of custard on top of a puffed pastry sheet. The gnocchi portion was the SMALLEST I've seen served - only five tiny pasta pillows! The pearl onions in the dish occupied more room in the bowl than the pasta. The chef should be embarrassed to serve this! My husband took the eggs benedict (delicious) and beef strogonoff. At least his portion was larger than mine, and had a huge hunk of meat in the middle. The service was poor by our waiter, he spent most of his time in the empty bar watching the NCAA basketball. We had to flag another waiter down for tea."

We were told the beet salad was small, but when 3 beets with a few green were served, it was really small and perhaps should not have been an "entrée".. This person was splitting with another who ordered the quiche, so she thought the small portion would be OK, but it wasn't. The quiche was bland and seemed to be more of a custard rather than a quiche. Size was fine. Two others had the omelet and walleye sandwich. Both were good. On Valentine's Day, my review was good."

Were able to snag one of the prime window seats overlooking the river. Food and service were everything that Nicollet Island Inn has built their stellar reputation on. Each course was served promptly without ever making us feel hurried. Just wish we had had room for dessert by the time we finished with the lobster bruschetta, entrees and side of roasted brussel sprouts. Will have to go back just for wine and dessert soon."

We arrived and found ourselves the only diners (we came at 5:30 - so early) for awhile and were impressed by the charm of the place. Our server, Sean, was attentive but not fawning and the food was delicious. We especially loved the beef tartare appetizer and both entrees: the half chicken and smoked duck breast were beautifully presented and so tasty. I was delighted to find the kir royale on their cocktail menu and indulged in one. Even once the restaurant began filling up, the noise level stayed low. We will definitely return to this gem!"

Collectively we had the creme brulle brioche French toast, eggs benedict and the quiche (bacon and swiss) for the second course and the gnocchi and beef stroganoff for the third course. It would have been good if coffee were included. Perhaps a greater number of choices would have been been more attractive for those who like to return. We found the three course option. It would have been nice if the music were a little more refined to fit the décor."

They were warm, helpful, gave wonderful recommendations and thoughts on the food, etc. The only thing about brunch is that it comes only in a 3-course meal or a 5-course meal. Even the 3-course, though excellent choices, was too much food for my husband and me. I wish they could just have an a la carte menu."

We choose to dine there when we want to celebrate special occasions or impress our out of town guests with the lovely ambience and fantastic view.. The staff is attentive and professional without being intrusive. The food is good. The beet salad with whipped Gorgonzola and maple vinaigrette is best I've ever tasted. Five of the six of us chose the Beef Stroganoff with buttered noodles. It tasted more like a pot roast and I think while we enjoyed it, no one really raved about it. The other choice that was made was Artic Char with fingerling potatoes and roasted Brussel sprouts which again was good, but not great. We will be back!"

  • ""Quaint" is probably the wrong word choice for a restaurant with the history and reputation of the Nicollette Island Inn. The staff was very attentive without being overbearing. Helpful, had great suggestions when asked, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The food was well prepared and served as requested. Decent wine selection and unique booth seating for couples. With the soft glow of the interior, the winter background outside, and sitting in the middle of the river, I can see why this is repeatedly considered one of the more romantic dinner spots in the cities. And did I mention there is an "inn" attached, should you wish to save yourself a drive home! The brunch looks outstanding....that will be our next trip back!"

  • "We ate here on the Saturday after Valentine's Day, and we had a wonderful experience. Everyone was extremely helpful, from the mandatory (but complementary) valet to the wonderful wait staff. The food was cooked perfectly, and my personal favorite part was the view. We had a seat by the window and could see St. Anthony Main, the old 1887 bridge over the Mississippi, and at one point during our meal we saw a fox run down the river on the ice. Simply a spectacular evening."
