Nicollet Island InnPeaceful diningOur lunch was so enjoyable....plenty of room between tables so we could carry on a nice conversation. I had an omelet, and the other parties had a BLT and a grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries that were great! All the food was wonderful and our server was very attentive and personable.
I'm sure we will return.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Evening! We moved from the Boston area to the Twin Cities about 2 years ago and have enjoyed trying new restaurants frequently. It is tough to impress us because we are Boston restaurant foodies. In the Twin Cities, we have gone to several medium priced restaurants with upscale atmospheres...For good food and ambience at a reasonable price, the Nicollete Island Inn is at the top of our list. All the tables have nice views of the Mississippi River. We had a wonderful quiet secluded booth. The service was outstanding.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AM1st Wedding Anniversary DinnerWe celebrated our first wedding anniversary with dinner at the Nicollet Island Inn. The food and setting were wonderful. We had a table overlooking a small section of the Mississippi River and our server, Rebecca, was great ... very pleasant and attentive without being disruptive.
We will be back for other celebrations in the years to come!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial, as alwaysThis restaurant combines excellent food with a special, beautiful setting. A window seat gives you a view of the Mississippi River just 30 feet away. The inn is a historic building in a park-like setting on an island in the river. And it's in the heart of Minneapolis.
Add to this excellent food at reasonable prices (at least at breakfast and lunch when I've eaten there) and you can't go wrong!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary dinnerFirst of all, making a reservation was easy. And, the day before a reminder email was sent to me.
The staff was courteous and attentive yet not intrusive. We ate several courses ala carte rather than the chef's 5-course which didn't appeal to us that evening. Although there we several tables nearby, we could not hear their conversations. The food was presented well and was very tasty. I was a little surprised that there wasn't more selection on the wine list however, the bottle of wine we selected for our meal was spot on good. We never felt either rushed or kept waiting although I expected as much for a restaurant of this class. So this was a definitely pleasant dining experience and we will visit again.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I love thisMy husband and I love this place. We loved it in our twenties and now in our forties. It hotel has a lot of history. A nice bar, lovely restaurant with gorgeous views of the river, St. Anthony Mail and River Place, which are both a very short walk from the hotel. Cobblestone et. al. we love it.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMScenic Inn CharmThree of us had a birthday luncheon at the Nicollet Island Inn. Besides being historic, the Inn provides a charming place to have lunch. Our table was on the Mississippi side which afforded us a great view.
The kieche we ordered was delicious as well as the old world bread. Our waiter James was very attentive and was fun to talk with.
We were also asked if everything was ok by the maitre de.
I would definitely recommend the Nicollet Island Inn for a lovely outing .6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA jemLove, love Nicollet Island Inn! One of Minneapolis' finest restaurants.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation dinnerWe had a special dinner with our daughter on her last day of high school and it was wonderful. It wasn't just the food - although that is amazing - it was the way we were treated. I had noted in my reservation that this was our daughter's special dinner and staff congratulated her, brought us a little bubbly to toast her, and made her feel really special. It's so important to create that kind of feeling for people and the folks at Nicollet Island Inn never missed a beat. Thank you so much.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and ViewsFood was excellent and great view of the water from our table.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentWe went for our wedding anniversary and it was a perfect choice. The music was really a nice touch.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant, cozy, comfortableThe setting of this restaurant along the river and among the trees was perfect for a romantic wedding anniversary celebration for two. We ordered the beef tenderloin and the scallops, which were both cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Accompanying vegetables were also delicious and a good match. The wait staff were warm and courteous, watchful but not intrusive. We had a beautiful, memorable evening. I would highly recommend for a special occasion, or any time.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food!I had the salmon salad and everything in it was so fresh...just wonderful and a good size too.
My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich with arugula pesto, mushrooms and cheese....best he's had in a long time. The sweet potato fries were the best we have tasted.
Prices very reasonable for lunch and nice atmosphere too.

We go back for special occasions and because we love it!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFriday DinnerGreat food and wonderful service. Had a nice romantic dinner on a Friday night that featured excellent food, great wine and amazing desert. A little more formal then we usually like, but was a great place for our anniversary dinner. Highly recommended.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAn exceptional eveningExcellent! The staff was OUTSTANDING and the dinner delicious. Dinner was allowed to proceed at 'our' pace with every need quietly attended. It was fun to view the activity on the island from our table I.e. the horse drawn carraige , bicyclists and families with strollers out for an evening walk.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMNicollet Island Inn is ourNicollet Island Inn is our go-to place for brunch on any special occasion. The courses are well proportioned and timed appropriately.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Mothers Day BrunchI love the 5 course brunch. Food choices were exceptional and tasted as good as they looked. We had a small table overlooking the river and it was very enjoyable. They will bring the courses at whatever pace you want, so you can make it as long and leisurely as you desire. It is a great place to enjoy a special occasion.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat mom's day outReally great lobster roll sandwich, bloody mary and pistachio cheesecake! A bit spendy but wonderful for a special occasion with the terrific walking trails to the falls, locks and dams.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNight before Mother's Day DinnerI took my 90 year old mother for dinner the evening before Mother's Day to the Nicolett Island Inn Restaurant. Never having been there before, we were delighted with our lovely table with a beautiful view of the river and downtown. Our waiter was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. We each ordered the 5-course dinner and chose different choices so that we could taste and share. The food was outstanding, a very lovely menu. I ordered flowers for my mom and they came promptly as I had asked for. And I used the limo service that was suggested and that was very efficient. My mother can't stop talking about our wonderful evening together. I can hardly wait to bring her again at some other time....soon!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDining at the Nicollet Island InnThe dining experience was outstanding. The staff were very cordial and prompt, the food was prepared perfectly and the prices very reasonable. The noise level was acceptable so you could have a conversation and the setting is wonderful.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our 44th anniversary,It was our 44th anniversary, I had ordered flowers for our table and when we arrived they were not there. I had called ahead to let the hostess know they were to be delivered and expected them to be on our table. They did show up several minutes later, with a feeble comment that they were put aside and overlooked.
Other than that the food and service were very good.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBest brunch everI had the crème brûlée French toast, salmon gnocchi and a glass of champagne for brunch and loved every bite.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came here for brunch forWe came here for brunch for our anniversary. Right when we got inside, we were greeted with a warm welcome. The servers provided great service, they all seemed to help each other, which I really liked. We had the salmon eggs Benedict and creme brûlée French toast for our second course. They were amazing! For our third course, we had the lobster roll and salmon gnocchi. The roll was served on a baguette type of bread which I now prefer over the other breads I've had lobster rolls with. The salmon gnocchi dish was a little small but it made me full. Everything had great flavors! Our food came out quick, we never had to wait. The view was beautiful despite the snow in April. It was our first time there and it definitely won't be the last!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive but a wonderfulExpensive but a wonderful evening! The food was the best I've tasted since Travail.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHad the 5-course brunch SundayHad the 5-course brunch Sunday morning. Great food, very inventive, nice presentation. I wouldn't say I loved everything I had, but that's more a matter of taste. The brunch wrapped a weekend out-of-town with my wife, and wanted it to be special. Nicollet Island Inn delivered on all fronts. Some may find it a bit expensive, but you have to look at what you're getting. High quality ingredients combined to make sumptuous meals. The service was great also. Always refilled drinks quickly, cleared dishes quickly, and replaced flatware as needed (being a 5-course meal that was important).4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOur food was outstanding. Our food was outstanding. Loved the pastries as well!!!
Service was very good also. 2 of us planned on ordering
the brunch lobster choice, but the chef came out to let us
know that they were out of that entrée. (Sad!!)
2 in our party of 4 were served cold coffee. We told
our server, and 2 new coffees were brought out, but they
were cold as well. A new pot of coffee was quickly brewed
and the third set of coffees were brought out steaming!!
We appreciated that our server did not get annoyed by our
request, but we also did not want to keep quiet about the
issue. It got resolved.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden treasureHad the Easter Brunch. Was excellent. Superb service, and was great to look out over the water. I have been there for buisness lunches as well. Same excellent service and food. We were not disappointed. It was perfect for a romantic dinner. The setup makes for a quiet dining experience even with people sitting near you. The dining room overlooks the river, which is picturesque, plus the decor in the dining room is nice. Our waiter was attentive, but not overly so. Our entrees were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The menu has both traditional and contemporary offierings, so is good for foodies and those wanting the familiar. They had several good choices of sparkling wine, so you don't have to spend a fortune for good bubbly. The dessert selections were limited but good. I would definitely go again.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI wish the ala carte itemsI wish the ala carte items were back on the Sunday menu.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server, Jason, was topOur server, Jason, was top notch, very attentive without being intrusive.
