  • "Great food and the prices were extremely reasonable. Definitely a top pick in the north end for food and the price makes even more of perfect spot."

  • "Good food, good portions, good price. Solid choice for North End Italian."

  • "When I saw that Nico was owned by the same people who own Strega, I thought it was a great destination choice for dinner with a friend who was passing through Boston on business. We had a corner table in the downstairs dining room, which was probably much quieter than the first floor. The caprese salad was excellent, our entrees were delicious and the portions were generous. We found the wait staff to be right on the mark, attentive without being omnipresent. There's no doubt that I'll visit Nico again. The North End is always my destination for dining when I have guests visit from other parts of the country. The ambience of the North End is special."

  • "Downstairs seating is so depressing. Gloomy, no windows, claustrophobic and lots of draft. A real shame as upstairs a lot nicer."

  • "Waiter was recent arrival from Italy and new to this country. He was charming and friendly and knew the menu items well. He helped make our dining experience enjoyable."

  • "Second time going to Nico. First time went with an out of town guest. It was a great experience. This time, took our daughter for her birthday. Shrimp toast appetizer was terrific, Veal Parm was great, the service was very attentive. Overall, everything was terrific, except we dined downstairs instead of the main floor. Atmosphere is just ok. I will go back again, but would ask to sit at the on main floor or even at the bar, if you like sitting and dining at the bar. All part of the North End experience."

  • "picked this restaurant because of reviews and location online. totally pleased with choice. it was my nephew's birthday and they handled it beautifully...3 italian tenors singing the song! adorable since my nephew is 28 years old! Food was wonderful, service exceptional, even before the singing.... It is now our place to go in the Northe End..."

  • "Nico is good at using Groupon. It is how we discovered it. The food is fantastic and the waiters are amazing. You never have to ask for anything. The dining room is small but you will never regret going."

  • "It was a long, emotional week, as my family is part of the Boston Fire Department community, when we finally made our way to Nicos. After several reservations changes, which they made w/o issue, we sat down in an incredibly warm & inviting dining room. We smiled after seeing we had a view of the Fire Station from our table...seemed right. After a few drinks to unwind (espresso martins were the best ever), we ate an incredible meal of arancini, salads, chicken parm, spaghetti con poletta, seafood special and other yummy plates. Our server, Taylor was the best! He was so gracious, friendly and accommodated our needs. The entire staff & owner were fantastic too! Thank you for ending an incredibly special & tough week, on a high note!"

  • "My only issue with the restaurant is the tables are tiny."

  • "Both of the main dishes were great: chicken parm and chicken primavera. The salad wasn't anything special and the calamari was not good."

  • "Joined 4 friends for dinner at Nico's. Service was excellent, food was delicious, wine was great. Yummy bread with Olive Oil for the table. We shared to appetizers - Buratta Salad and Calamari - both were wonderful. I had a special risotto with Scallops - delicious. Everyone enjoyed their selections. I wwill definitely return."

  • "Very good food, but, somewhat inconsistent. Good service. Small room downstairs is tight and if there are children there, it can make for a disruptive dinner environment."

  • "If you are looking for ambience this isn't your place. Don't get me wrong it is clean and pleasant atmosphere. If you are going for great food, you should give Nico a try. The food was sumptuous from the appetizer to the incredible cannoli."

  • "Seated promptly with reservations. Waiter was attentive. Appetizers consisted of shrimp bruschetta bread which was very very soggy due to the amount of oil on plate and a stuffed red pepper which was very good. Main courses were lobster ravioli which was very good and veal marsala rated as good. The waiter quickly dropped off the check after our plates were cleared and didn't offer us dessert or coffee apparently hoping we would leave because people were waiting to be seated. We had to ask for dessert. We probably will not return."

  • "We keep returning to Nico and for very good reasons. The service is always top notch, the food is wonderful and consistent. Our go to first course is always the Burrata salad with grilled artichokes. A must to try if you have not tried it. The specials are always enticing, though sometimes pricey - however one gets for what one pays for. Crowded and small, but we always seem to luck out and once again had a little romantic table for two. We shall return!"

  • "I had the Delmonico steak (done rare like I asked, good size), my friend had the veal chop (huge) which she was also very happy with. We shared the fried calamari. There was some type of sliced olive bread in the bread basket we both loved; the olives on the table, which came with the bread, were a nice touch. I can't really say much about the ambiance as we were in the basement and next to the emergency door (I get it, the place is small - not a complaint). My favorite part was the service. There was a very nice young man with glasses (poured water, cleared dishes) - he was very sweet and attentive. Our waiter (taller, huskier) was also very sweet and attentive. Overall a nice experience. The service would bring me back again. Thank you."

  • "Went there on an early Saturday evening in late March. The hostess was welcoming and the waiter outstanding. They kept the table clean, water glasses full and checked in the right amount of times. My wife gave her mushroom raviolis a "B", my veal parm, the same. Our friends enjoyed similar meals as well. I will admit that by going into the North End I thought I would leave with a "wow was that outstanding", but didn't. Good; even very good; not spectacular. Very clean. Curiously enough, they a few TVs going in a small place that were distracting. There was no one at the bar, so it took away from the ambiance."

  • "My family, eight is us,went to dinner at Nico's on Friday night to celebrate my niece's engagement. Many of us are 100% Italian so finding good Italian food is not easy. But, we did at Nico's. We all had something different. The calamari was excellent, the mozzarella fresh and the veal very tasty. Next time we are in Boston we will go back."

  • "Food was delicious...tables are a little cramped but that is dining in the North End!! I can't wait to come back and try something new."

  • "Dined at Nico during Restaurant Week (3/21/14) The food was excellent. Expertly prepared and presented, portions size was just right, not too big. Large wine list. Service was very good. We were initially not offered the Restaurant Week menu and had to ask our waiter for it, felt like kind of a bait and switch. Also, had a reservation for 7:30, but table not ready at that time, this was OK as it gave us a chance to have a glass of wine at the bar. But when a table was ready, it was in a cramped corner next to the bar which the waiter had a hard time getting to. We opted to wait for another table. The Hostess was accommodating to this request but told my wife that table was one of the most requested. Somehow I doubt that."

  • "This is the second time we've been to Nico, and it's still terrific. The food was fabulous, and the staff was wonderfully accommodating. We were a party of six, and they were able to seat us comfortably even though the restaurant is a bit small. For those that are watching their wallets, you may want to ask about the price of the specials. A few of us ordered them and were a bit shocked to see that they were significantly more expensive then other items on the menu. But they were delicious. We'll definitely be back."

  • "Nico is one of my favorite North End restaurants. Their arincini is awesome. This is my 4th time eating there and I keep coming back. Our waiter Tyler provided us with great, individualized service and he was very outgoing and friendly. I highly recommend Nico."

  • "Good food, very accommodating kitchen when we asked for lobster alfredo and risotto instead of fettucine in my zuppo pesce. Tyler gave great service and was a fellow well met."

  • "First time diners at Nico. The food was good, not spectacular, but still tasty. The appetizers and salads were the best part, yummy and more than enough to split for 2-4 people. The meals were tasty too, but just not as impressive as the starters. One of our meals was chicken saltimbocca, and the chicken was a little bit thicker than I enjoy, so perhaps that is just personal preference. I would definitely go to Nico again, but it would not be at the top of my North End list."

  • "We went to Nico's with friends for a pre-Symphony dinner and had a wonderful meal. The waiter was attentive, the wine list, while not overly extensive, was diverse and well balanced and the meal itself was fabulous."

  • "Dined on Saturday, March 8. Had a great table for two right by the window. Food was fabulous. Wonderful homemade pastas. Very willing to accommodate food allergies or create salads or sauces to your liking. We both Had rigatoni a la sal with marinara rather than truffle cream sauce. Good size portion delicious plump scallops and shrimp. Service was very good, attentive but not at all rushed. Complimentary limoncello for my husband's birthday since he couldn't have dessert with a nut allergy. Our favorite Northend restaurant. We have been ten plus times and always consistent."

  • "We took advantage of a Groupon to visit Nico and reserved via OpenTable. The hostess did not want to seat the first person until the second person arrived but reluctantly did. There was an overall sense of lack of organization among their wait / bus staff. In fact for about 12 tables there were 4 people "running" around. With so may staff, it felt like they were hovering over you to finish up. Lobster ravioli and veal parm were fine, but nothing extraordinary. In fact the whole menu lacked any originality. Three choices for dessert neither requiring any preparation: creme brulee, chocolate hazelnut ganache and tiramisu. The tiramisu came in out 30 seconds and was clearly in the fridge for a few days. For me, the North End is overrated."

  • "Nico was a nice find while looking for last minute reservations in the North End. Reasonably priced, our foursome enjoyed an incredible, eggplant parm appetizer - melt in your mouth. Next time I might get that as my entree. Waiter was awesome - let us sample several wines before we selected one we could all agree on. We were also given a sample of their red sauce before we decided on our entrees. $110.00 per couple with 2 bottles of wine and tip. Trust me - you'll love it!"

  • "Went for my mom's birthday and it was a great experience. Food was tasty, though I suppose not outstandingly memorable seeing as I can't quite recall what all the dishes were that we ordered (it was about a month ago now). I do remember the portion sizes were good -- the prosciutto appetizer we ordered had a LOT of prosciutto. Noise level wasn't too loud, even though the space is not exactly large and the bar is RIGHT next to the dining area with no real separator (you can see the bar and televisions from our seat by the window). I do recall that we had attentive service. It is on the far end of Hanover St so parking wasn't too bad, as it wasn't quite in the main thoroughfare near Cross St / Atlantic Ave. All in all, I would go back."
