  • "We had a reservation for 5 and asked to increase to 10 with less than 24 hours notice., Very accommodating. Unfortunately we were seated downstairs. Very low ceiling and felt a bit closed in. Service was very good. Would recommend to a friend but try and be seated upstairs."

  • "I went for a 30th birthday dinner and had an excellent time. The food was delicious (Burrata appetizer- special of the day, Chicken Saltimbocca, & Fettuccini Carbonara) The wait staff was friendly, professional, and thoughtful. Couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. I will be dining here again in the future."

  • "The food was good but the tables were very crowded. The bus boy accidentally elbowed me in the head while clearing the table next to us."

  • "We enjoyed the food and the service. Very good bread and a great bar. Service was excellent."

  • "The service was impeccable and special requests were encouraged. Great food, service, ambiance and sangria!! Fun to walk through the north end before and after dinner as well!"

  • "This was a last minute reservation and it was a great choice. The service was very good and the food was excellent. The burrata special was superb! A very comfortable restaurant with a nice vibe. We sat upstairs and even on a Sunday night it was quite busy. There is a dining room downstairs as well, both are relatively small, which is fairly typical for many of the restaurants in the North End. We will definitely be back."

  • "This was our first time at Nico and we recommended it to good friends the next day. While a small very busy restaurant, we were very appreciative of receiving a table right by an open window over looking the sidewalk. Very pleasant setting on a very pleasant evening. Our reservation was accommodated right on time and all the help was extremely courteous and professional. We were thanked for selecting the restaurant more then once. The food was excellent, a very good wine list and overall an excellent experience."

  • "I read a recommendation to request a seat upstairs - based on the size of the restaurant (very small), I would consider this a great recommendation. The food was good - meatballs and arancini were great. I had the "world's best" lobster ravioli. I wouldn't recommend it - it had a very fishy taste, as opposed to the sweet deliciousness of lobster that I was expecting. The other entrees were much better. Overall, I thought their pastas were really good. The waiter was very nice as well."

  • "When we arrived one of our party of four had not yet arrived and we were instructed to sit at the bar, not allowed at table until fourth person arrived. One of the men wore a fedora and was told immediately that he had to remove it, he would have removed it anyway, but not given a chance. Once the fourth party arrived we were instructed to immediately sit at the table. Not welcoming too many rules - however the food and service were outstanding."

  • "seems like a nice restaurant- food and service was excellent, but we were placed downstairs which is small, cramped and not attractive at all with low ceiling and no windows. Upstairs seems nice especially by the front where you can look onto Hanover St- highly recommend that if you want to try this restaurant you clarify where you will be placed- do NOT go if they don't guarantee upstairs table"

  • "Pretty little setting past all the hubbub of Hanover Street. Staff and hostess were wonderful, polite, enthusiastic and helpful. Food priced reasonably though appetizers a bit on the high side. Special risotto with Scallops fell far short on flavor and was crying out for something more than just salt. Other entrees and appetizers (Calamari, Marsala, Parmagiana, Salads) were good but again not memorable. In general, for us at least, fell short of high expectations and great reputation. Perhaps an off night in the kitchen. I would try again and trust its word of mouth as the masses should not be wrong here....."

  • "I had been to the North End for dinner many times and wanted to go somewhere I had not previously been to. Nico did not disappoint. We got, in my mind, the beat seat in the house, thanks to our reservation. Front window seat, perfect for a romantic dinner. I got veal, my date got the lobster crepe and both were delicious and a generous portion as well. Her crepe had huge chunks of fresh lobster. She actually took half of hers home and it held up for lunch the next day. We also shared probably one of the best calamari's either of us has ever had, a tiramisu and a nice bottle of wine. Our waiter was great. I wish I could remember his name. He deserves the shout out. Overall a wonderful night best summed up with great food, great service."

  • "North End restaurants run the gamut of hole-in-the-wall to touristy to elegant to good meals well-done. Nico provided a variety of items on the menus and excellent choices (and a number of them) for specials of the night. We had a party of five and chose broadly. Every item appetizer or main course was presented well and tasted even better. We would definitely go back and the wait staff was eager to please."

  • "Nico once again exceeded all expectations. Superb food, service and authenticity. Who knew spaghetti and meatball could be so special. The lobster ravioli was also terrific. Special appetizer salad with fresh mozzarella stuffed with ricotta? Who thinks of these things? Wow. Thanks."

  • "Nico is a small Italian restaurant located near the far end of Hanover Street, kind of away from the hustle and bustle. It is a small place, but so are most of the places in the North End. We had a 6:30 reservation, and we were seated right away upon our arrival at 6:15. We had a nice open window seat, which was great because the weather was perfect. The service, food, and noise level was perfect. Our party left there with smiles, and the feeling that we would be back again someday."

  • "Hubby and I dined at Nico's Saturday night and had a wonderful experience. We had reservations and were seated immediately (pretty good for a Saturday night). We ate downstairs which was cozy. Like to try upstairs next time. Our waiter Bruno was excellent and helped in answering all of our food/beverage questions. I had the Sangria (which I sampled first) which was wonderful, not that sweet stuff you get in so many places. We had arancini for our appetizer which were more than enough for the two of us. I had the scallops and shrimp over rigatoni with truffle oil which I was hesitant might be too heavy. Bruno suggested I ask for light cream sauce and it was perfect. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs, which he loved. We will be back."

  • "I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants in the North End and Nico really stood out from the rest. The food was delicious and you could tell the waiter had a lot of well-deserved pride in the restaurant. Lobster ravioli is always my go-to meal and it did not disappoint as it was stuffed full of lobster meat and had a great pink sauce. Usually ravioli doesn't fill me up but I couldn't even finish this one. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a shot for your next meal in the north end :)"

  • "This was a fun place to go!. It's tight in there, you are back to back with other tables BUT everyone was great, friendly, enthusiastic. Wait staff were friendly and all seems to roll with the punches and actually enjoy the banter. Food was fantastic! I had the Prosciutto and cheese as my first plate...wonderful cut, texture and taste, excellent portion. Had the linguine and clams (Fra diablo)...spiced just right. 2 bottles of Chianti were a perfect match to everyone's meals at a reasonable cost. We ordered one dessert for all four of us to share and out waiter gave us a second on the house!....We didn't want to leave but so many people were waiting we eventually left. Highly recommend for a great meal and fun time with friends."

  • "My husband and I are new to the Boston area and have dined at several Italian restaurants in North End over the past few months but Nico's is our favorite. Excellent service and food! "

  • "We were in Boston for a long weekend and friends had told us that we just HAD to go to Giacamo's for dinner. After reading reviews online and reading it was a nightmare, we spoke to some locals and were told it was ridiculous to wait in line only to be rushed through a mediocre dinner. We, of course, turned to open table to find somewhere better to eat and NICO's popped up. WHAT AN AWESOME FIND! There were five of us, so we ordered practically every appetizer and each had separate main courses...everything was SUPERB! Our server Sabatino was great! A few of us spoke Italian at the table and he immediately jumped right in with us. He was attentive, friendly and timed everything perfectly! We weren't rushed or disappointed in any way! "

  • "Probably the best Italian food we've had in the North End!"

  • "Food was delicious but the service was even better. Our water glasses were constantly filled and we were consistently asked if everything was ok. It's very small, tight space but that's common for the north end. Overall good find!"

  • "Unfortunately, Nico was having a problem with their fire alarm when arrived, so I wasn't able to eat there. The hostess promptly routed us to their sister restaurant, Strega, just a few feet away. Dinner at Strega was fair, but I prefer Nico. I wish Nico would validate at Parcel 7 Garage, instead of exclusively offering valet service ($20!) from Strega."

  • "Came to Nico on a whim with some girlfriends who were visiting town. Picked it based on previous reviews I had read. Table was ready for us when we got there. Service was great - we had good spacing between our appetizers and main meal, and wait staff was very friendly and always had our water filled. Food was very good - we all had something different (fettucini, mushroom ravioli with truffle sauce, lobster ravioli with pink sauce). All delicious! The restaurant overall is smaller so it was good our party was only for 3 because I don't think a larger group would do as well here. We would come back!"

  • "Food and service for our party of 4 were outstanding. Pastas were tender, scallops cooked perfectly, dishes flavorful yet light. We especially enjoyed both the flavors and the presentation of the evening's caprese-style appetizer special. We were seated at one of the best tables upstairs, near the top of the stairway. Not sure if we would have wanted a downstairs table. Only real downside of Nico's: single, unisex bathroom that made me want to spray disinfectant ...."

  • "From beginning to end, an excellent meal. We started with the arancini and house-made sausage stuffed roasted red pepper. I had the rigatoni alla Sal, shrimp, scallops and mushrooms in a truffle cream sauce over homemade pasta. Great wine. Everything was prepared with care and delicious. Service was OK, but that did not take away from the quality of the experience. We sat upstairs - very nice room, somewhat more cramped downstairs. I will definitely be back."

  • "Though it seems you can't go wrong for Italian food in the North End, this place measures up pretty well. It's very small, but service and food are very good. It was hot at night, but I assume the AC has not been turned on upstairs yet. Good food and plenty of it. Would go back!"

  • "This was our third time at Nico and we have never been disappointed. Many of the North End restaurants don't live up to their reputation. Nico always does. Walk a little further down Hanover street and you will be glad you did. We sat upstairs at the open windows on a beautiful night and it could not be better. The service was outstanding from the time we made the reservation through dinner. Tyler our waiter made excellent suggestions for dinner and wine and accommodated one of our guests that had a food allergy. Nico is definitely one of our favorite restaurants."

  • "Nico's is classic North End. A great Italian restaurant with enticing menus and wonderful specials (stuffed veal chop) The service is attentive but not intruding. Our group of 5 never wanted for anything!"
    Dined on 5/9/2014
  • "Dinner at Nico's was a big disappointment. The wait staff was only preoccupied with rushing us through our meal to rotate tables faster, in a way that I never experienced to such an extent. The pasta dish was barely average, with as little parmesan as one can possibly get. There must be better Italian restaurants in the North End!"
