The food was very good and the service was excellent. They were undergoing some remodeling for which they apologized, it would have been nicer had we not had the sawdust smell and the noise from the construction work, but everything aside, it was excellent.

I went to Nick's expecting to have a great date and was very disappointed. The service was fine, but the food was not very good. I ordered the filet mignon and it was so overcooked there was barely any pink in the middle. My dates pasta was ok, but was nothing too special either. Next time I eat on the waterfront I am going to one of the other restaurants nearby.

Its like they didnt even try with the food. It was one of the most boring epicurean experiences ever. On top of that it was on Mar. 6th, part of "unleased week" where they had buy one get one free entrees (that should've said something about the quality right there) and they tried to pull one over on us by giving us a full price check! Not untill I asked about it did the waitress pretend to "go check with the manager to see if the promotion is still on" when their own website said that it didnt end until the 7th... Tsk tsk tsk. Their motto should be: "Overpriced & Underwhelming, Nick's Riverside Grille."

The location was great, but I during our dining experience, the restaurant was empty when we walked in. We stayed because we had tickets for a performance at the Kennedy Center and we were sort of pressed time-wise. The hostess and the server were the same person, there was a guy behind the par and I assume a chef, kitchen people and us! Our drinks were GREAT, the knowledge, service and deameanor of our greeter/server were good and the food was good, though I knocked the rating back a bit because we would have liked to have a bit more options on the menu, in my opinon the menu seemed very limited. Overall our experience was fair, but I really was hoping for better.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 1/7/2010
I ordered cajun mahi mahi salad. The cajun spices seemed like they came from a sauce mix as there were no recognizeable fresh herbs or spices in the orangey sauce. The flavor was awful and the cajun and vinagrette sauce did not go well together at all. I was hungry so I ate it all, but it was the second worse meal I've eaten at a restaurant in the last year. Also, of 6 lunch entres only 2 were seafood. Hardly what I expected for a "Riverside Grill". I will not be going go back.

This restaurant was overpriced for the quality of food provided. Even the service was terrible. The waitress left and rarely came to the table to check on us, the place wasnt busy at all because it was late in the afternoon. She was not friendly and did not appear happy to be waiting on us. She did even bother to bring the tab to us, she had someone else drop it off at our table. We ordered salads and the mahi-mahi on the salads was flavorless, we also ordered an the spinach and artichoke dip and they did not even cut the bread before they placed on our table. Overall the it was a very bad experience and I would not go back to this place.

My lobster ravioli was excellent and service was fast. We were coordinating dinner with a concert at KC, and the restaurant was helpful in adjusting our reservation so that we would have plenty of time to walk over to the venue. Word to the wise: skip the Tiramisu unless the recipe has been altered recently. Ours was a dry cake with a dollop of cream on top.

The setting would have been lovely if the weather hadnt been so horrible. The food was good, service good. The only criticism is that we were a party of 8 and were sat right next to the bar where it was noisy because patrons were watching sport on TV. The restaurant wasnt full and we could have been sat near a window away from the bar, but I go there late and the consensus was not to complain! I would go again in the Spring or Summer as its a nice spot. Also, there is a taxi stand close by which is handy on a busy weekend!

Unfortunately, this was one of my more forgettable dining experiences. We were looking for a nice setting within the Waterfront but the restaurant was so poor it took away from the ambience. There was no hostess to seat us. Our table was not ready even though we had a reservation. The tables were uneven and the service was poor. I had European colleagues with me and we were all very unimpressed with the food. The menu selection was limited and there was no real wine selections to speak of. It was just a disappointing experience overall. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This was more of a casual experience and not a fancy or romantic place. It is pretty laid back and more geared for outside dining on the waterfront. Not really a romantic place because of the outside bar scene and people are dressed casually (shorts and tshirts. Great view of the harbor and Kennedy Center and lots of good people watching. Boats pull up to the dock on the harbor I didn't realize it was so casual but that is my fault for not doing more research. I had flowers delivered but they didn't show up and the restaurant had no idea of the delivery. I blame the flower company for that. Overall the food was good, not great. Service was good, not great. I would go back but not for a romantic or quiet dinner with lots of ambiance

Don't ever make reservations at Nicks! I made a 10pm reservation and the kitchen closed down before my reservation. No one called me to confirm and it was absolutely awful! The restaurant didnt even try to accomodate me for their mixup. I was very disappointed as this was a special occassion for my friend. Thanks to Nicks, I had to make up a plan b, which I did not have at the time and this made my night more frustrated.

Nice, quiet and inexpensive restaurant! Food was great but wished there was a larger food selection. It was the perfect place take my friends before we went to a play at The Kennedy Center. It had a great view of the Waterfront and created a serene and relaxed atmosphere. I loved the fact that even though the area was popular with a lot of people, the restaurant placed you in your own world. I can't wait to go back!!

The service was really bad. We had to constantly ask the waitress over and over for service. I ordered a baked potato with sour cream and butter with my entree and the waiter brought out my entree but no baked potato. I waited at least 10 minutes before I received the baked potato and when I did receive it, it was cold and there was no butter or sour cream. When the waitress finally brought out the butter and sour cream, which also took a few minutes (and she wasn't even apologetic) it was cold as if it had been in the freezer. I normally tip 18% but the service was so bad that I didn't even tip 15%. I will not dine at Nick's Riverside Grille again.

what a horrible experience. i'll never go back to nick's. the food was WAY overpriced, and this being my third visit or so in the past few years (new year's, a few special occasions where we dined outside) do NOT go on the fourth of july unless you want a 15 year old hostess who knows nothing, grubby looking bouncers who will slap a wristband on you (for $30 a plate why am i drinking out of a plastic cup and wearing a wristband in georgetown??) and another rude teenage waitress. my boyfriend and i hoped for a date-y experience on the water to enjoy the fireworks in DC, and instead ate inside, where they blasted 80's music and we sat under a skylight that was brown and hadn't been washed in years. seriously, there's MUCH better spots in DC.
