A word from Nick's Riverside Grille
Nick's Riverside Grille is a family-owned waterfront restaurant serving great American fare, fine steaks, authentic pasta dishes and the freshest seafood. Perched on the Potomac River, our views include Roosevelt Island, the Kennedy Center, Key Bridge and Rosslyn.

We are a perfect place to bring a date for a romantic candlelit dinner in one of our sun rooms. Or bring a group and sit in the larger dining room overlooking the majestic Washington Harbour Fountain and Ice Skating Rink in the winter.

The outdoor patio and bar are open for business from mid-March through November and any beautiful days in between. No reservations are accepted for outdoor dining, as it is first-come, first-served only.

Diner Reviews
  • "We were a group of 6 out-of-towners looking for a place to eat in G-Town. Nicks was a good find. The setting is attractive, on the Potomac, even on a chilly early-spring evening. The ambience is riverside bar--frenetic, crowded. But reservation was easy, table was ready when we arrived early. Wait-staff was attentive. Food was typical bar-food: burgers, fish & chips, nachos, etc. Quality was good but not spectacular. Fish and chips were under-seasoned. Salmon nicoise was flavorful. Drinks were plentiful. A good place to go in G-Town in an attractive setting."

  • "Nick's Riverside Grill is tucked into a nice spot so you can view some great sights in DC but feel like you are not in the chaos that surrounds the area. You add the delicious food and its a combination thats hard to beat."

  • "Can't say anything negative about Nick's. The food is good. The serice is good. The restaurant is located at Georgetown Harbour, a great spot. Unlike the restaurants acoss the courtyard, Nick's is noisy...too noisy on the particular Saturday night we were there. So, my reommendation...go to Nick's but just wait until you can sit outdoors and enjoy the fresh air."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed our time at Nick's Riverside Grill--the setting, service and food were all excellent. We were immediately seated and our table provided a nice view of the ice skating ring with skaters from all ages enjoying the evening. Thank you for helping make our Valentine's Day Evening a very enjoyable and romantic experience."

  • "So, we had the lobster and mussels chief special and the first thing they forget to bring was the butter, then they forgot one our sides. The special was just bland and we were not expecting the after having some great appetizers. Therefore, if I do return to this place it will just be for happy hour and bar food."

  • "I recently redeemed a Gilt City voucher to Nick's. I like trying new places through Gilt since they typically only work with top businesses. We had the lobster, and it was completely dried out and tasteless. The mussels were pretty decent, but if you are looking for great seafood, look elsewhere. Service was great and this place would probably be real nice for a summer outdoor brunch being right on the water."

  • "A 2-hour family group brunch on a cold January Saturday was very pleasant with the backdrop of the Potomac and the ice skating rink. Our server Tyrell was great. The place looks fantastic thanks to a complete re-build after the river flooded it a few years ago -- no more smelly dive bar; now it's a classy riverside restaurant!"

  • "I went with my friend to Nick's for an evening out and to take advantage to restaurant week. Our dinner was excellent and the special menu had a excellent variety. Because it was winter time we sat inside however, I want to come back in the spring/summer and have a meal outside."

  • "Granted, there was a big football game going on, so it was probably a bit rowdier than usual, but the layout of the restaurant is centered around the bar. This means that even if you're on upper level or in main table area, you are right by the bar and/or a large screen TV with a game going on. Food is pretty good, especially for more of a bar scene, though not cheap. Would NOT recommend for a date."

  • "Based on the other reviews, our expectations were low upon arriving at Nick's. We had, however, a very pleasant experience. We were a group of 6 and we had limited time before seeing a show at the Kennedy Center. The staff were aware of this and were very attentive. I did not realize that this is more of a sports bar. Not disappointed, but just making the comment. I had the salmon and green beans and they were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. One member of our group ordered the swordfish and I would make the same comment. Another guest had the crabmeat salad and it was pretty bland, but not terrible. The crabcakes eaten by another guest were tasty but had a lot of filler. Overall our experience was a very pleasant one and I would return."

  • "Nick's appears to have done a complete turn around since the flood. It boasts an updated menu and fresh, modern decor. We had salads and they were both delicious. Brian, the waiter, seemed a little distracted. The silverware was a little smudged and the glass had something crusty on it. But great improvement. Nice bar. Wonderful view. Give it a try."
