Diner Reviews
  • "We were staying at the Hyatt near O'Hare for business and wanted to find a nearby restaurant that was upscale. I chose this restaurant based on the reviews here and hoped for the best. It not only met but exceeded our expectations. The ambiance is lovely, and classic, and the quiet atmosphere was relaxing. Everything we tried was delicious and expertly prepared. The staff was friendly and attentive. Well worth the price."

  • "The restaurant was quiet, perfectly lit for dinner. The service was great, the food was fantastic and I would definitely come back soon."

  • "I met friends on Tuesday night who were staying overnight near the airport and recommended Nick's because I had been there several years ago and loved it. The service was excellent, however, the food was not what I expected for the price. Friends had Shrimp and Scallops Tagliatelle and it was very rich and the seafood was smothered with the rich sauce and pasta, all tasted the same. I had the fish special Grouper, but it was a bit overcooked and very small portion. Wine was very pricey. Bottle of Santa Maguraita was 3 times the amt you can buy it in the store. Key lime dessert soso. I realize prices are higher at the airport restaurants, but would expect better food. Very quiet, not many people there."

  • "We always save Nick's for very special occasions and they never disappoint. The fish is so fresh and delightful. The Dover Sole is a house specialty and is was exceptional. This was our 25TH wedding anniversary and ths staff treated us wonderfully."

  • "Excellent food and service. the place is a bit empty which was strange and thus it was very quiet. the prices are on the high end, maybe this is why it wasn't busy on a Friday night dinner time."

  • "excellent service. and fast. also loved the lighting feature that brightens to read the menu and dims for ambiance!"

  • "The grouper special was fantastic, and we enjoyed another great dinner at Nicks."

  • "I always wanted to go here because I heard it was fabulous. I was disappointed. I ordered one of the specials and found it to be okay, but not exceptional. My husband ordered off the menu and felt the same way. Our rice was cold and it was supposed to be just slightly more. The waitress brought additional rice, because she wanted to take the plates back and that would have overcooked our fish. "

  • "Nick's is an excellent choice for a Business Dinner or a romantic night out. The wine selection was excellent. Everything from salads to deserts were absolutely incredible and were presented beautifully. Naturally their seafood is the primary draw, and will not disappoint."

  • "Nick's has long been one of our favorite special places to dine. We celebrated our anniversary and the food, service and ambiance was great."

  • "My husband & I have gone to Nick's to celebrate our anniversary for the last 4 years, I'm only sorry we couldn't afford it for the first 27 years of our marriage! This most recent visit was to celebrate birthdays & a job promotion. The service is fantastic and the food even better! The lobster bisque is otherworldly and the filet mignon melts in your mouth. My husband had the Chilean Sea Bass that he said was excellently prepared. The couple we were with had never been before and were very impressed as well. The decor and atmosphere have a "old school" feel to them that I enjoy. It is a bit pricey, but to my mind totally worth it for special occasions. I'm looking forward to our next visit already."

  • "Being a fish lover, I made reservations for an early dinner. My family enjoyed the quiet setting and low lighting. The wait staff was exceptional in service, offering suggestions when asked, and checking periodically. I was slightly disappointed that there wasn't freshwater fish available. However, my family thoroughly enjoyed our entries."

  • "This was a great place to go to dinner on a Saturday night if you're going to the Rosemont Theater. Its just minutes away. Our waiter Nick was excellent. The food was very good - I had Chilean Sea Bass and my husband had the Red Grouper. Both were excellent. We also had the Maui Salad and the Chopped Salad.Bottles of wine on Saturday night are 1/2 price. That being said our dinner was $160 with the 1/2 price bottle of wine. We didn't even have dessert. We found it overpriced."

  • "Food was scrumptious and beautifully presented. Ambiance is an A+ with leather-like high booths that feel quite private. Service was impeccable. This first class restaurant rates five stars. The only downside was the very paultry, puny pour of my neat B&B. Could you spare it, Nick?"

  • "Located in an office complex next to OHare, [in the same complex as Harry Carry's] this is a hard to find, and expensive restaurant, but the excellent service and great food make it perfect for a special occasion."

  • "It's like stepping back in time. It is well preserved ambience from the past. Clean but very dated. Just not what we had expected. It does have a nice romantic Old Chicago vibe. Overall the service was great and the food was very good, not great. I'd say just not worth the price. The goat cheese salad was fantastic, best part of my meal. Worth tying if you up for a $200 bill easily."

  • "I have been to this place three times, once with mywife and twice with clients. Each time has been outstanding. I rank it as one of the top seafood places in Chicago. It is a throwback restaurant, focused on service with great food in a very relaxing environment. It is at the other end of the spectrum from the small plate/whimsical chef's creation, bustling/noisy/packed dining experience. If you want great seafood, wonderful service in a very nice, relaxed environment, this is your kind of place. It is perfect for relaxed, conversation-focused dinners with wife and friends as well as clients."

  • "For a Staurday, it was pretty quiet. They also had a special for half off all bottles of wine. That was a great deal. The black and blue seared ahi tuna was fantastic. The grouper and sea bass were delicious and their service was top notch. I would definitely recommend."

  • "Poor location and no scene or activity. There was one other group and 3 couples in the restaurant at 6pm on a Saturday night. Food was so so. Not a place to check out for the money. MANY other better options in the area"

  • "A friend and I went to the Rosemont Nick's Fishmarket. Had a wonderful meal, split almost everything and with that it was very reasonable. Split the tilapia with crab meat on top, it was huge!! And just delicious!! Would suggest bread on the table--you don't get a feeling of hospitability waiting for bread with just water in front of you. Don't like the individual service of bread, either, looks like we're only entitled to a one-per-person. Leave it on the table, and bring right when people sit down! We'll still eat, don't you worry! Waiter did not thank us for over 20 % tip, and we were really nice guests. That's a management issue, it should be taught."

  • "We dined at Nick's on Valentines Day. As we checked in for our 8:45 reservation we were told that they were running way behind with their reservations (45 minutes). People were standing everywhere in the bar and hostess area. Very difficult to get a drink at the bar too while waiting. Once we were seated waited 10 minutes to see a waiter and an additional 10 minutes to receive a menu. The service during the course of the night was deplorable. I have eaten at Nick's several times and the food was very sub par as well. The waiter had way too many tables. No one got the proper service that is expected at Nick's. A very disappointing experience"

  • "I ll never come back to this restaurant. It was the worst service ever."

  • "Terrible Valentine's day experience. Huge backup for seating with seemingly no system for getting people tables in order. Never received our appetizer, never had a waiter heck on us for more drinks after our first round, no one ever came by to refill our water. Sounds like something happened that night cause I've seen other bad experiences, but all those issues and never once did a manager come by to apologize. Just awful, would not recommend."

  • "Had a 7:45 reservation for Valentine's day. By 8:30 they were still trying to seat people with 7:00 reservations, so we left. Wendy's was delicious. Highly recommend the double stack."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Food was fine but was way overpriced. Service was terrible. Many patrons left before their meal meal was served. I will not be going back. Last but not least on a cold night parking was awful and could not find valet."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Although we had a reservation, so did hundred others. I was informed by management that Open Table overbooked resevations for their restaurant and they tried their best to accommodate EVERYONE."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We arrived to the restaurant . valet was no where to be found. We had to park in the parking garage 10 minutes away and walk to the restaurant in the cold Once we arrived I noticed the sign for the coats and jackets was literally written on a paper (terrible had writing) and taped on the wall. It looked very tacky. Once we got there we could see they were clearly understaffed. We were sent to the bar where we waited for 40 minutes before we were seated ( we had reservations) There were only two bartenders on Valentine day. We had to eat dinner and then request that our server close our bar tab for us"

  • "Considering that bad service and long waits are usually the norm this night, Nicks didn't stray from that norm. Had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time . Our reservation was 7;15. ordered right away salads came out quick but an hour later our entrees arrived 8:45. Asked for a second glass of wine that we never received. I will say the food was delicious. But waiting so long ruined the evening. Had to ask for our server a few times, really never checked back to us especially to explain the wait or ask if we needed anything. I probably will reconsider dinner out on Valentines day."

  • "After several great trips to Nicks, my wife & I decided to go to Nick's for Valentine's Day. Dinner was a train wreck. It took over two hours to get our entrées, and this was after asking 3 times where our food was. The food came out lukewarm. The couple at the table next to us had to ask for their bill three times, and still waited over 20 minutes for it to come. When they brought our entrees we asked for the dessert to be boxed up and the bill brought so we could get out asap. When the bill came, they over charged us for our wine...they corrected it but had I not looked at the bill, we would have been overcharged by $60. I spoke with the manager, and all he could say was sorry."
