Nick & Toni's East Hampton
Best in the HamptonsNick & Toni's is without question the best restaurant in the Hamptons. (Tried 'em all.) The only negative is that too many people know this. In season, it's packed all night long. Don't even think about going without a reservation. Seems to me that the cooking is greatly improved--maybe ten years ago the food was certainly good, but not on the level of, say, Della Femina's. Now D.F. is gone (although the chef Kevin Penner is firmly in control at other venues around town). But my last couple of dining experiences at N&T's have been truly outstanding. And sure, if you're into star-gazing, they do show up, along with the usual crowd of wannabe's, Really, the only drawback is the noise level, mostly in the bar area.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDivineWe had a fabulous dinner with great food and service.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Night OutEvery evening feels like an occasion at Nick and Toni's. The renovation is beautiful. The food is thoughtful, healthy, tasty and original. One feels like a special guest. Always a pleasure. It has the feel of real old fashioned dinning in a modern setting.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest all around restaurantBest all around restaurant in the Hamptons. Great out of season but difficult to book in season.
Friendly and good people watcher.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNew look sort ofExcellent! Bar area has been re designed for greater comfort and standing room too. The food is the same delicious fare that has made Nick and Toni's lead the pack of restaurants in the Hamptons. Especially warm and hospitable on a cold Spring evening!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Milanese business lunch lookNick and Toni's is a wonderful place and I have great loyalty to it, but with a few tweaks it could be so much better.
I love the meat fritto misto featured a few weeks ago - sweetbreads, chicken liver etc. was wonderful, but overly greasy even though served on absorbing paper..has been true of a number of past fried appetizers
The wood fired pizzettas are divine - I especially love the salmon and marscapone for brunch.
The wood roasted fish is always excellent.
As for the renovation...the lights in the front room are great looking as is the pale wood paneling. Somehow the old décor hung together better. The acoustics are much worse in front room, and the lamp shades & sconces in the back room are unattractive and a trend gone by.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis remains the "hot" restaurantThis remains the "hot" restaurant in East Hampton. We went a 9:30 PM and the place was packed but still my reservation was respected. (It probably didn't hurt that I am acquainted with the Manager who had previously managed another restaurant that I also frequent in East Hampton.
The cuisine is well prepared and presented and the service is professional and attentive.
The acoustics are not the best and the dining room can be disturbingly loud. I would not go earlier during "prime time" because I think it would be overbearing.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a special treat withAlways a special treat with great service and food.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTop ShelfNick and Toni's has been and will continue to be the restaurant that other restaurants try to achieve to become. The food, service and ambience is the best on the east end!!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOnce again...wonderful!The one wonderful thing about Nick & Toni's is they are consistently great. The food, the service and now that they have renovated the space (which came out beautifully)it is all quite a special place. My hat goes off to the chef who does a marvelous job with the menu. Thanks for always making a visit to your fine restaurant, a memorable one!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been enjoying NickWe have been enjoying Nick & Toni's for years and will continue to do so. It has never let us down.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDespite having a reservation,Despite having a reservation, we had to wait an HOUR to be seated. And this was in the off-season! Really good food - stick to the classics though - they are too busy to make the difficult dishes perfect.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic ServiceWhat made this restaurant extra special for me was the service. Everyone from the minute we arrived to the minute we left was so gracious and hospitable. The food was great also.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe usual exceptionally goodThe usual exceptionally good experience.
