Nick & Toni's Cafe ManhattanLocationLocation of this place is great for pre-Lincoln Center dining. The wait staff are friendly but sometimes a bit slow. The food isn't entirely reliable. Sometimes it's great and sometimes its so/so. It's a nice environment to dine with friends as people aren't packed in. I recommend it as a relaxed environment for pre-performanc dining.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMReliably OutstandingWe dine with Nick & Tony several times on every trip to New York. Whether for lunch, dinner or a quite mid-afternoon snack the food is always outstanding. On the most recent visit, the broiled cod managed to be moist and flakey while also fully cooked and tasty -- prepared exactly right, and surpassing many well-known fish specialty houses. At lunch and dinner times, Nick & Tony's is usually crowded and vibrant, and yet the staff is always friendly, attentive and prompt with service.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNick & Toni's is reliable,Nick & Toni's is reliable, solid cooking. The emphasis on local and seasonal vegetables is welcome indeed. The room is a little crowded, with tables on the small side forcing the waitstaff into balletic moves as they navigate narrow aisles. But the staff is friendly, knowledgeable on the menu, and efficient without rushing things. They gave the meal a nice pace.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner before balletA first but not a last dinner; excellent choices of dishes and the expectations were duly met. Nice ambience with excellent and witty service; it is always nice to have a quick witted waiter and one with sense of humour provided he offered the quality as on this occasion. Go for the flaked fish dishes because the chef has the knack of cooking yet retaining the moist flakes with true texture. Try the chicken dish which was high on taste and with real flavour. The wines were more costly than local wine stores but nonetheless were delightful and full of rich flavours to match the dishes. Finally, how can the dessert be avoided when they melt in your mouth as with the chocolate amoretto delight. Mmm6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMhealthy and tastycrab cakes superb; salmon done exactly to order; wine list lovely; fast enough for pre-theater (Lincoln center)6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMcorner tablemade a reservation 5 days in advance put in corner table asked hostess for another not very friendly said we didn't reserve a better table DID I KNOW THAT? oN THE other hand, our waiter was very nice and accommodating.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMthird times a charmthis was the third time my sister and I went N&T before the ballet and it just keeps getting better. Moderate priced pre fix that doesn't make you feel you missed anything from the regular menu. Very friendly staff and very attentive. can't wait to go back6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAround the corner...IT would be easy to be a regular. N+T is a gem in the Greater Lincoln Center wasteland, a civilized and thoughtful meal only a stroll from the LCT box offices.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMModerate prices near Lincoln CenterGood food, reasonable prices, moderate noisenear Lincoln Center. Rare combination in this area.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMclean, local and sustainableit was everything promised - good, healthy, hearty foods, minus all those sauces that good food doesn't require, anyway. Loved it - would recommend to anyone and everyone! We had three fish dishes - salmon, scallops and cod - all fresh, seasoned well, and delicious. Wines by the glass to suit all preferences, and a very friendly and competent wait staff. The atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. Close to Lincoln Center, too.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMexpensive but good foodIf $30 entrees are not a deterrent, you may savor some very good food at this restaurant.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMa nice experienceWe had a very enjoyable meal here. Ravioli and salads were wonderful. I guess the area requires higher prices but they do have a price fixe meal if you wish. We will eat here again.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is consistently good.Food is consistently good. Service varies depending on the evening and the crowd. Location can't be beat!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Upper West Side DiningWalking distance to Lincoln Center, we keep going back for the great food and good service. Every meal is a taste sensation with attention paid to the quality of ingredients and the near-perfect preparation. We have never been disappointed.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite restaurantsOne of my favorite restaurants in New York--and on Monday night we ordered the $28 prix fixe dinner and received a free coupon to an AMC movie theater. An amazing bargain!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA return visit for lunch beforeA return visit for lunch before afternoon tickets at Linclon Center. Worked out perfectly, again. The artichoke and goat cheese fritata was a great choice and the salads are outstanding. There's plenty of fantastic selections at the bar to create your favorite cocktail to start with.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Ladies LunchI found the restaurant on The New York Times Restaurant List, and it met all of our expectations. I was with a very opinionated friend who has something to say about everything! She only had very good comments about the restaurant from the moment we walked in all the way back to Penn Station. Waiters were friendly knowledgeable about the menu and suggestions for lunch were right on. I would definitely go back!!!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful neighborhood place.Wonderful neighborhood place. Good food at reasonable prices. Service is good and the small restaurant is charming.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA reasonable restaurant inA reasonable restaurant in NYCwith friendly service and good food.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Pre-Opera DiningVery quick service, which was great because we were dining before a performance at the Met. Food was fresh. Service was fine but not great. The room is small-ish and tables are quite close to one another but the ambience is unpretentious and energetic. Overall we enjoyed our meal. We arrived at 6:00pm for a 8:30 opera and had plenty of time to eat and relax before heading over to the Met just after 8.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis has become one of myThis has become one of my favorite restaurants in the city and my go-to place for out-of-town guests looking for great locally-sourced food and neighborhood charm.Amazing spring salad special of shaved asparagus and fava beans with parmesan--and delicious warm bread and olives to nibble while studying the terrific wine list.Another terrific special was Berkshire pork chop with fiddleheads. And on top of great food and wine, the service is delightful--they must hire only waiters who can make the diners laugh.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a remarkable eateryThis is a remarkable eatery with excellent food and service. i came too early and the crowd had filled the restaurant almost 100%, there fore too noisy. But the maitre-Di accommodated me and my friend perfectly, we even got a better table after most of the patrons had left.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNice neighborhood ItalianI like Nick and Tony's mostly for their close proximity to AMC Lincoln Square multiplex and Lincoln center. It's a nice small Italian restaurant with attentive service and a light relatively healthy menu. Most dishes can be altered to be vegan/vegetarian appropriate. The service was quick. Although noise producing surfaces are thought to be popular it would improve the atmosphere if the owners would invest in noise reduction making this a more intimate romantic retreat.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem one hates to share,A gem one hates to share, but how can you hide this close to Lincoln Center. Cozy, welcoming ambiance that then surpasses all expectation with delicious, sophisticated and succulent dishes. Always a great treat.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI was very pleased with NickI was very pleased with Nick & Toni's Cafe. The pizza was outstanding. The arugula salad was fabulous. Service staff was polite and helpful. I will definitely go back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAll is good as usual. As notedAll is good as usual. As noted below, the reservation was not noted in the reservation book and there was no interest in finding out why.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is consistently good.Food is consistently good. Service generally is attentive but this night they seemed to be less so.2/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for dinner before attendingGood for dinner before attending something at Lincoln Center - very close, and a nice $35 prix fixe menu. The appetizers were particularly good, mostly salad options on the prix fixe menu but not just ordinary salads - for example, a roast cauliflower salad and a prosciutto and apple salad. Nice selection of reasonably priced wines by the glass. Decor is a little spartan, so don't expect a lot of atmosphere.1/21/2013 12:00:00 AMChicken salad is one of theChicken salad is one of the best in NYC! The cafe bustles at lunch time and brunch time. I assume it does for dinner too! Really good after a concert!11/15/2012 12:00:00 AM
