A word from Nick & Toni's Cafe Manhattan
With a focus on local products and seasonal produce Nick & Toni's Cafe Manhattan prepares fresh food simply. We source locally whenever possible and shop the NYC Green markets with twice-weekly visits to our neighbors at the Tucker Square market and others the including Union Square and Ft. Greene markets.

The wood fired oven puts out perfectly crispy pizzas everyday at lunch and Sun-Thurs at dinner. Friday & Saturday nights be prepared for a special treat because, although there are no pizzas, many house specialties such as the Roasted Chicken, Whole Fish of the Day, or Scallops are prepared in the wood oven.

We have a diverse and high quality selection of wines by the glass, and a moderately priced wine list. We also feature a full bar and an extensive cocktail list including a number of house infused alcohols that suit the seasons.

I thought I had read that Nick & Toni's Café in Manhattan had closed and was sad that one of our favorite places to dine before Lincoln Center performances would no longer be an option. Luckily, we discovered it is still open and made a reservation. Happy to be back and nibbling on olives and dipping delicious Italian bread in olive oil while perusing the menu, we chose to order a la carte, but it is also possible to order a 3-course prix-fixe dinner with smaller portions. My husband had his favorite appetizer of chicken livers, but I opted for the special salad of arugula, beets (chunks of red and golden ones), and goat cheese. We both had the special fish: fluke, pan seared in their brick oven and served over a corn and squash medley. Yum

I eat here regularly, often before or after seeing a film in the neighborhood. I can always count on getting a good meal. Most recently I had the Artic Char with quinoa salad. It was delicious. The service is fine.

Swordfish special was good but chicken was disappointing. Chicken itself was well cooked but sauce/gravy tasted and looked like it had been made days/weeks before. East Hampton needs to provide cooking lessons on this basic chicken dish.

although mostly the food was good, there were some disappointments. There were five in my group pre Lincoln Ctr Theater. Two salads arrived soggy and beyond SMALL. If you can't be generous with a salad that's not good. Two of the men ordered pasta which was very good ,but again , so SMALL that they were left hungry. My fish was ridiculously small, not even a small filets worth. The portions were two small- they were all like appetizer portions with a big price ticket. There are better places to go in the hood.

We love this place - it is tiny, and warm and comforting. The food is always great - this time, we had the individual pizzas - thin crusted and delicious and a lovely bottle of Malbec. Our server was funny and sweet, but also most efficient.

Hopefully this was just an anomaly. We love this place and usually the service is good. They were slow when we were there and the waitress just stood across the room and never came over to our table after taking our order. Others did but our food took forever to come out. The first course came out more quickly and then the second we waited for over 30 minutes and the waitress never came over to talk with us. We ate there twice in the last week. Once for dinner and once for brunch. Dinner was good service. brunch was the flow one. The brunch food was GREAT, once we received it. Hopefully it was just our waitress. I am going to give more stars so I do not effect the rating because normally they are a great neighborhood restaurant.

I love living in this neighborhood but the restaurants cater to diners with deep pockets and taste buds that haven't worked in years. If it's expensive and you don't have to turn down the music or switch tables three times to move away from the air conditioning/kitchen/restroom then I guess it's acceptable. This was our fourth visit to Nick and Toni's and the same condescending server taking too many tables while the server that greeted us stayed at the bar to drink after his shift was enough of this joint. Price point floats around $100 a person if you order ala carte with drinks and I regret being too lazy to travel 25 blocks for a place that cares.

Nick and Toni's is always a hit. Tonight the whole Bronzino was cooked to perfection. The skin was nicely crisp while the meat was tender and moist. What a wonderful choice! The 40$ price fix 3 course dinner is a wonderful choice when you are hungry and ready to eat. Here or in the East Hampton, a lovely place to go.

This restaurant was a real disappointment. Food was only fair, no specials, and the service was non-existent. Asked for bread, none came throughout the meal; our waiter never returned to ask if anything was needed...took two requests for salt to be brought. Not a place I would return to or recommend. Too bad, it's in a great location.

I reserved this restaurant for dinner after a Graduation event held at Lincoln Center. I started to become worried as the event went on further than anticipated. I was pleasantly surprised when I called the restaurant and was told they would hold our reservation. I admit that I expected a cursory aloof response since it was Manhattan...it was the opposite...friendly and engaging. We ate at a leisurely pace, two very nice waiters and even a visit from the Manager. The oven roasted chicken was tender and flavorful. The tartufa dessert outstanding. Great atmosphere with large windows looking out on the bustling street. Pasta dishes were well prepared.

The restaurant had a modest problem in completing our meal at the requested hour....but in all fairness, when it was brought to their attention, they worked very hard to remedy the problem. And all in all, we were very satified with the menu and preparation. Our service was knowledgeable and attentive, and was clearly instrumental in getting our food served quickly so that we could get to our concert.

Pizza was recommended but a snooty waiter who required humoring told us only Monday -Thursday. We were in a hurry so ordered a mediocre dinner which was insanely overpriced for Manhattan. $14 for lousy Caesar salad, wine by the half glass $14 and a not very tasty pasta dish that was around $29. One of the most overpriced and useless dinners I have had in a long time.
