  • "I have been wanting to have a good steak at Nic and Stefs since moving downtown. The restaurant seems old and worn. While the steaks were good they were served lukewarm and the baked potato was cold, undercooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen. The "popover" served right from the baking tin was inedible. When paying this much money for a good restaurant I expect much better."

I had a hard time FINDING the restaurant because it's up a flight of stairs in the Wells Fargo complex and there are NO signs for it at street level. A helpful employee of the nearby California Pizza Kitchen showed me where it was."

  • "All three of us enjoyed our meals. From the soup (split pea) to Caesar salad (yummy), sides (creamed spinach, glazes asparagus) and steaks: NY Strip, Rib-eye, and petit filet. The steaks were done just right with great attention to "doneness". The popovers were okay and really unnecessary because the bread was very good. We had an attentive and well-informed server (Jessica). The ambiance was elegant in a steakhouse way and comfortable too. Great all around experience that we will revisit and recommend to other people."

  • "It's sad that Nick and Stef's have their own meat locker to dry age their meat and they still don't know how to cook. This was my second time and I asked for medium(bone in ribeye) and they served it to me well done. The first time I came, I asked for medium and it was medium well. If I'm paying close to $50, I want to get what I paid for. When they did bring my back my steak, it was medium, but there was almost no flavor. Even Flemings had a better seasoning. I'm always searching for great steakhouses and Mastro's is the only one place I truly enjoyed the best bone in ribeye."

  • "We were in town for the Opera and wanted to go to a dinner beforehand. We were celebrating our 14 wedding anniversary and wanted it to be a great adult dinner. Nick and Stef's exceeded our expectations. We were given a champagne toast after being seated as we noted on the reservations that it was our anniversary. The sommelier came over as we were going through the wine list and suggested a great bottle for us based on our tastes. The tableside caesar was great with just a little zing. The steaks their specialty were so good and we split a Maine lobster that was cooked to perfection, no drawn butter needed. We will definitely eat there again whenever we are back in town."

  • "While the food was excellent the portion size for the side dishes was very small, considering they told us they were to be shared. We had a Caesar salad made table side, but it was not very cold. The wine list had a surprising lack of Central Coast wines. We were told to park in the building parking lot and they offered a shuttle to the Music Center, but when we returned after our show we were charged $32.00 for parking. We had no idea the parking fee was so high and nobody asked if we needed parking validated. Had we known, we would have parked elsewhere."

  • "The ribeye and new york steak were delicious. I shared with the server that I wanted somewhere between medium rare and rare and he said that they'll prepare it rare plus. I had never heard of rare plus so it was very kind of N&S to accommodate that. The scallop with pork belly and chopped cooked edamame were very yummy too. We ordered a strawberry rhubarb dessert and it was served very soupy or even just watery and very tart. We didn't finish eating it."

Made you feel like when you got the bill you didn't mind paying at all. I thought I was done with Patina restaurants after our terrible experience at Patina in March, but this restaurant still holds up as the level of service and food you expect. Wonderful outing."

We arrived 2.5 hours before our show at the Chandler (walking distance); our server made sure she understood our timing, and she did the same for others around us... ensuring that there was plenty of time to get to our show. In our case, we didn't need to hurry, and we didn't feel rushed. Highly recommended!"

  • "Wanted to try a a different steakhouse than the "usual" in downtown LA. By "usual" I mean one of the national chains, i.e.: Mortons, Flemings, etc. Since Yelp rated this the #1 Steakhouse in LA, I was eager to try. The service was very good, the restaurant itself is quite bland in decor. I didn't get the feeling I was in an expensive restaurant. The food was quite disappointing. One of our party ordered Prime Rib and was given a terrible cut that was extremely fatty and tough. The sides were not great. The wine list was very expensive. The only bright spot was the staff, who were all very attentive. Sadly, I wished I had chosen Mortons instead."

I took my mom for dinner for Mother's Day weekend and thought this was a good idea but was a bit disappointed. Basics they failed on were not refilling my water, needed more butter, checking on us while we where eating and not after finished dinner. All the items were tasty; ordered steak and was delicious and prepared perfectly; halibut my mom ordered looked very good too; the sides were amazing and recommend ordering the potatoes au gratin and sautéed asparagus; the dessert (bread pudding) was only dislike, it was not balanced well and way too sweet."

  • "We love Nick and Stef's and almost always go there before going to the Ahmanson. We always have leftovers because the portions are so big! We were a little disappointed this time because there was no mint jelly or mint anything to be served with the lamb. We ordered creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and had plenty left over. When we asked to have everything packed to go we assumed our that everything would be packed to go..but when we returned home..there were no mashed potatoes!! What a bummer!"
