Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant is connected to an upscale movie theater. Very casual, small menu. We had trout, which was cold and poorly seasoned, and a hamburger which was nothing special. Two drinks and two entrees became a $60 tab - pretty pricey for a pre or post movie bite. There is a sushi bar, but we don't consume sushi so we did not try it. Waitstaff was friendly but not polished."

  • "I went on recommendations that this was a hot spot, was very average at best, service was good but felt server just kept wantin to pick up my plate that i was still eating, took my salad plate that still had salad on it. Brouht me a new drink and took the one I was finishing with still 1/4 left in it. Food was good but not amazing. Probably would go again, but for a special occasion as this was, it was OK"

  • "Service is always fantastic, food is phenomenal. My first 3 visits here was to dine before a movie, now we go just to eat. Everything about this place is great, it is even better than the Uptown Dallas location. Thank you for a great experience."

  • "I was craving pancakes and split with my husband...they are divine with roasted pears and caramel...hmmmm! I had the breakfast plate:sunny side up eggs, smoked ham, fresh fruit...beautiful. My husband had the chromosomes, fluffy, tasty, perfect. I will definitely will come back to try that."

  • "Our experience was fantastic! The service was wonderful and our waitress allowed us to sit and talk. We didn't feel rushed to get up. Everyone ordered different dishes and everyone loved their food!"

  • "We have been dining at North Dallas Nick & Sam's Grill at least once a week for the past couple of months. It has become our favorite date night spot. The staff is exceptionally friendly, the food delicious (husband thinks the sushi is best in area, I love fish dishes and salads), and the service is great."

  • "I had always heard good things about original location so I was anticipating a great experience. But, I was very disappointed. Our waiter was overbearing and awkward. He went overboard describing dishes. It was amusing at first but became increasingly annoying as he hovered around the table, cleared plates while some were still eating. The worst was when we asked for some sliced lemons he brought them to the table on a paper napkin! He did this twice!! Awkward and annoying! Most enjoyed their food, but my steak was awful . I ordered medium well and it came medium and was chewy and tough. They did bring complimentary dessert for two birthdays being celebrated and they were very good."

  • "Although we had not been to Nick & Sam's in a few years and only to the original location, we were looking forward to a special occasion dinner. The menu has evolved completely and it was definitely not what we expected. This location, and perhaps the original location as well, is much more casual with a very limited menu. The food was ok but definitely not memorable. It would probably be a good place to grab a light dinner or late night bite after a movie."

  • "Very disappointed in the food. Got calamari as appetizer and it was over fried. My husband got the steak frittes and steak was burnt and not good. I got smoked pork chop and that good, however jalapeno Mac & cheese was not the best. I would not recommend this place for as date night."

  • "Nick and Sam's is a great start to movie night, or an end cap on the patio. Great food, excellent and reasonably-priced wine list with great service."

  • "My friend and I visited Nick and Sam's on a Thursday night. We were delighted to find out it was "$5 Sangria" night and sampled two different flavors. We each had the potato soup (delicious) and share the trout entree with saffron risotto. Our server, Laura was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We will definitely return!"

  • "Had the special two nights in a row.. The trout with lemon butter sauce! Absolutely amazing I went back the next day to have it again ! Should definitely become a permant on the menu "

  • "Had dinner with a business colleague visiting Dallas and didn't want to drive all the way downtown to the real Nick & Sams. This "grill" location is nice looking and staff were friendly enough. But the severely limited menu and wine by the glass choices were unimpressive. Calamari to start was the high light followed too quickly by a wedge salad that did not inspire. 1/2 way through the salad the hanger steak arrived. Steak quality was not good but was cooked med rare as requested. The fries portion was good but I am not a fan of battered fries. Our waitress was robotic and as sincere as a lump of coal. The best cab by the glass was $14 Buehler which costs $28 a bottle retail. Come on guys really!"

  • "I ordered the sirloin burger medium well, it came out pink and so greasy I had to use my napkin to mope it up. Calamari tasted like fried fish fry with no meat. Wife ordered turkey club. Bread so hard she had to use her knife and fork to chop pieces. Ordered a sandwich, burger, calamari, one beer a piece and it was $75 plus tip. I have paid in excess of $100 a plate for food, and if it is good I have no problem paying it. But to pay $75 for a meal, and whataburger would have been better... No beuno!"

  • "I had the asian salad with chicken. The chicken was dry and chewy; way overdone. Our waiter was not rude, but he was not friendly. He seemed to be just going through the motions. We ordered tea to start and waited a long time, then finally flagged down another waiter, who promptly brought our tea. Usually the service and food are much better. Not sure how soon I will go back."

  • "We had wonderful service but unfortunately the over salted food killed our experience. Both my husband and I ordered the filet. My steak wasn't as salted as my husbands but it was still overpowering. I had to dip my steak in my mashed potatoes so the creaminess of the potatoes took some of the salt away. My husband's steak was so salted he had to cut the outside off in order to enjoy it. Even the asparagus was covered in sea salt. On a positive note, the steaks were cooked to order. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese which was really watery and not creamy at all. Overall, I have had worse but expected much better. "

  • "Good atmosphere but so so food which was over priced for the quality & taste. Spoiled to Nick & Sam's Restaurant and expected more from the Grill."

  • "The food is overpriced for the amount and taste. We went to celebrate Mother's Day and we were all disappointed. The service was excellent, but the food is terrible. "

  • "We've been to Nick and Sam's Addison location several times over the past two months and think it is a great addition to the Addison dining scene. The food is great, the service friendly, and the atmosphere modern and energetic. Hubby thinks it is the best sushi in the area."

  • "Nothing terrible, but nothing like I expected by going to a place as reputable as Nick and Sams. Our server was terrible, my girlfriend and I waited over 15 minutes for a glass of water and had to get some help from 2 other servers that were not ours. Out of 5 of us, 2 of us had simple modifications (no tomato, side salad, etc) and all of them were ignored. Mid rare burger came out well done, and it wasn't noticed that I only took 2 bites. Had to flag down the manager to have somebody clear our table, I would say empty plates sat on table for 10 minutes as countless people walked by. Steps of service were missed the whole time, we were constantly waiting or looking around for help. Plenty of staff there, just none that cared. Wont be back. "

  • "We had a perfect evening sitting on their patio. Fortunately, the sun had just dropped behind a building and it made it even better. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. And our food was very tasty."

  • "Great restaurant with consistent food and service. Love that my wife can get sushi and I can have a good steak at tha same place. Hard to find somewhere that does both well. Sorry to hear that Manager Austin is leaving. Hope service stays on track as it has with him. Loved our server, very fun girl from Eastern Europe. "

  • "We eat out a lot and this is the first time we were asked about food allergy. Every restaurant should do this. Get the pork chop, it's very good."

  • "It was our first time going to nick and sam's and it was an amazing experience. Our waiter Brandon had the best recommendations and all the food was delicious. We loved the sushi, spinach artichoke dip and the filet. I would definantly go back."

  • "Seriously, they really do have "Damn Good Fries"! The flatbread is addicting. The crust is perfect! The blue cheese burger I tried was super fresh and the meat had very good flavor and the temperature was exactly what I asked for. Today we tried The rainbow roll. Delish! Service has been spot on. I will definitely be back."

  • "EZ access after a movie to this super clean, contemporary restaurant. A menu offering many options and a chef willing to adjust your order to dietary restrictions; I.e. Ordering a burger without salt in the meat. We caught a 4:45pm movie then walked next door for a nice dinner."

  • "We had gone to Nick & Sam's grill in Uptown last weekend for brunch and loved it. This place is not the same. If you have food restrictions (gluten intolerant), there are very few items to choose from. The side salad was very dull. The table next to us sent their fries back two times saying they were too cold. It was a disappointment since I love all the other Nick and Sam's."

  • "We visited on Fat Tuesday so I was concerned about getting a reservation. However, we had no problem and now I understand why. The food was below expectations. My wife had filet which she really liked. I ordered the pork chop, and the first one was so tough I could not eat it so they offered me another. The second one was slightly better, but lacked much flavor. It came with Jalepeno cheddar Mac n cheese, and green beans. The Mac n cheese was ok, not really great, and not really hot enough. The green beans were so undercooked, I could not eat them. I will give credit that the manager was apologetic and comped the pork chop ,and I appreciate that for sure. However, bottom line is if the food is not good, no service can compensate."

  • "Found the restaurant to be a great find for the Addison area. Reviews of this location compared to downtown location read before the visit produced some pretty negative comments to the favor of downtown. I would say those comments are driven by the fact that while the same name, these two establishments are a totally different experience by design. We enjoyed!!"

  • "My wife and I visited Nick & Sam's Grille for Valentine's day. Great lighting and overall "ambience" in the dining room. Alison was such a great server, she was knowledgeable and overall personable. Looking forward to eating here again and try out the theatre."

  • "The overall experience was great. We expected the restaurant to be extremely busy and loud on Valentine's Day. We were pleasently surprised to find the restaurant busy but comfortable. We could also easily have a conversation. The food and service was very good. We will definitely return!"

  • "Our check in was less than friendly. The lady made us and our waiter stand there looking at each other until I spoke and asked are we ready to get to a table. she was more interested in the computer than transitioning us to a table. waiter was great once we were in. food great and wine even better. Fun place. Hammer"

  • "The North Dallas Location had little to no energy at brunch...maybe three tables. Guess I am spoiled by uptown. Service was attentive. Food was just ok...nothing special. Wouldn't go back to the North Dallas one for sure."

  • "Very disappointing one of our guests ordered - steak frites - steak over cooked on medium rare order. Sent back Pork chop dry & tough. I've eaten at N&S Grill & the mothership many times. This was a very sub-par performance."

  • "This is a good restaurant. The problem is Nick & Sam's is in the name. We are huge fans of the uptown N&S - so much so we consider it one of the best in the country, not just Dallas. So I guess I had unfair expectations of this restaurant. I realize this is intended to be a downmarket version of its namesake. If it were the Look Cinemas Grill I would have rated quite good. But with N&S in the name come VERY high expectations this place just couldn't meet. The fault doesn't lie with the staff or location but with the marketing. You can't capitalize on name when it's the equivalent to a level of excellence that, in the case of the Grill, is lower by design."
