The service was excellent The ambiance quiet and upscale. The food was delicious and the pacing of the meal was perfect. Although the wine list is not extensive, it offers excellent options to accompany the menu. This is an expensive restaurant, but worth the cost. We were not seated near the window, in fact near a wall, but we had our pre-dinner cocktail at the Pinnacle Club, so that was perfect. Debbie, our server was attentive, yet she gave us our time to talk and enjoy my husband's birthday! I would highly recommend their sea bass. It was perfect, flakey and tasty. When arriving , were told that it would be a short wait. In less than 15 min., our table was ready. We were promptly seated at a table right by the window with a nice view. Service was excellent. Food was very good. Loved the bread basket. My son enjoyed the Bison sliders, but I thought it was slightly dry, but that could be because it was bison which is a leaner meat. My pork chop was very good and generously sized. The house salad was excellent (loved the goat cheese croutons). The signature potato dish was excellent, cheesy, and very rich. Would have loved to have tried the desserts which looked tempting on the Ipad they used, but did not have room. There were seven of us who ate there for a special occasion. Everything was perfect! The food and service were outstanding! Our waiter was able to describe in detail each menu item and helped us with all of our questions and selections. We had his undivided attention for three hours! Nick and Nino's is likely the most outstanding restaurant in Springfield! It is a perfect destination for a special occasion, romantic dinner, or a night out with friends. The full-service bar can provide you with any drink you desire. I loved the atmosphere. The service was spectacular. Our server was extrememly knowledgeable and made the experience even more enjoyable. I ordered the flight of filet mignons and it was the best steak I have ever eaten. We rushed out the door to catch a show at the performing arts center. At intermission, all we could talk about was how good the meal was. So after the show, we went back to their Pinnacle Club Bar and had a night cap and a split a dessert. Share the sides with another person because the portion is big, and it is not included w/ the entree. Prepare to at least stay for 2 hours to enjoy all the atmosphere and food. They have great collection of teas also, and after dinner your party can step next door where there is a vibrant bar,where they make amazing cocktails. While not in the "big city", you get quality steaks, chops and seafood with service that you need to experience to believe. Our waiter was well ,trained and anticipated what we would need and made it appear just as we needed it. The peaceful ambiance was helped by the tables being set far enough apart to allow private conversations. It was the perfect place. The food was absolutely perfect in preparation and presentation. Coming from Chicago and having lived on the East Coast for most of our lives, we had high expectations and Nick and Nino's exceeded them. One of the best steak dinners we've had in years.
The maitre 'd noticed that it was my wife's birthday and accommodated our request to have a scenic window seat. Their wine list by the glass and by the bottle are on iPads, the only place in Chicago I can think that does that is Chicago Cut Steakhouse, so good for Nick and Nino's getting ahead of even their Chicago steakhouse rivals.

The Sea Bass was exquisite. Even though everything was above average, the prices were quite high for Springfield, IL. I would expect these prices in Chicago or Omaha or Indy.
I will return, but not as often due to the steep prices. I would have expected two meals without wine to be around $75-$80, not $100.

When we left the same window table was still vacant. It's located donwntown just off of the busier streets at the scenic top of the Hilton hotel. The ambiance was artistic, chic, modern, with low lighting but not dark. Open tables, a bar, or large seclusive booths are available. It is uniquely refined and yet relaxed. The wait staff was very attentive, professional, and helpful. The menu has a variety of finely crafted options that they are happy to prepare to your liking, with more choices than your average upscale restaurant and a full complement of wines, desserts, and mixed drinks.
