  • "This is great little corner pub. With really incredible food!"

  • "We had reservations for 4 service was good food was great and my date loved the unique beer selection."

  • "A friend and I went for dinner before show at Aronoff across the street. The bar area was loud and lively, but he dinner seating in the back was private without being 'stuffy'. Service was enthusiastic and attentive. Menu boasted a wide variety. The leek soup was unique and very tasty. I ordered the salmon dish with brussel sprouts and sweet potato......one of the best dishes I've ever had (not to mention healthy)!! I would highly recommend Nicholson's and not hesitate to go back!"

  • "Yuck! I have eaten here a few times before and loved it. The menu is completely different, much smaller. Maybe they are under new management because the fish and chips was a completely new dish that looked and tasted like Gordon's frozen fish sticks. The server was friendly but forgot our appetizer order and was more interested in chatting with other servers than attending to her tables, which were all in need of something. Service I can forgive because one bad egg can be replaced, but the food is just not worth your trip."

  • "Great brunch and a great bartender that mixed up a great 'grapefruit mimosa' with fresh squeezed grapefruit."

  • "As usual the haddock was delicious however it seemed to be cooked just a tad too long. Crunchy is good but hard crunchy is rough on the mouth! Everyone at our table ordered the fish and chips (haddock and fries) and everyone said the same.... it was almost too hard to eat. Great batter, wonderful fish yet tough to chew! None of us finished our meal because it was actually painful to eat! Delicious tartar sauce, perfectly sweet and tart and creamy. Acceptable slaw, nothing exciting there. The "homemade catsup" was tasty yet runny. One complaint.... there were many empty tables throughout the front rooms however we were seated at the furthermost table in a small, very crowded, quite noisy room in the back."

  • "I've used Nicholson's as our "go to" dining place when attending events at the Aranoff. The food is always great. The service is wonderful."

  • "This place has it all, you can sit at the bar where the bartenders are incredibly friendly. There is also a dining area where its a bit more quiet and low-key. But they also have a small room with a fireplace in it that is very quiet and very romantic. The perfect date night treat is the sticky toffee pudding, its to die for and is perfectly sized to share with your date."

  • "We used to love this restaurant before or after a show. The food has only gotten better over time! But this last visit, the customer service was horrible. My 7 year old daughter was with us, and after ordering drinks and bread we finally asked if there was a kids menu. Only then did she bring it out with crayons. When we told our server we would be ordering off the menu and not eating the buffet she seemed very put out. I never got a water refill, I poured some into my glass from my daughters. When she brought the credit card back at the end, she did not say one word. No thanks or anything. Also, I had put a note in my open table reservation that it was my moms birthday. Not one word was said about that either."

  • "My granddaughter and I had lunch here before going to the Wicked matinee. Our server was polite, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was excellent and a good value for the money. Will definitely return!"

  • "Service was top notch and the beers were typical of an Irish pub. Saying that, even most Irish pubs are catching up on the craft beer craze so the selection at Nicholsons was definitely lacking. Food was not bland, fish seemed to be out of a box... really nothing was horrible but nothing was that good either. Very disappointed..."

  • "We recently were in Cincinnati for only one evening while visiting colleges with my daughter. We stayed at a nearby hotel and chose Nichollsens for dinner due to the reviews and location. It is directly across from the Aronoff Center and Wicked was there the night we went but even though the restaurant was crowded with show goers, the food and service were great. We had reservations and we were seated immediately. Our waiter greeted us and brought our drinks to us within minutes. The bar is lovely, old fashioned, lots of wood. An amazing array of single malts are available here! I chose the fish and chips and my daughter chose a burger. Both were excellent and served with a smile. Oh, and the wait staff wear kilts!"

  • "This was the third or fourth time I've been to Nicholson's and I've never been overly impressed by the food, but who really goes to an Irish pub for the food? The hamburger and pot roast that we got were both so-so, but the spinach artichoke dip was AMAZING. The beer, wine, and mixed drinks list is extensive. I ordered a lemon drop martini and it was nothing short of terrible. However, the beer list was great and other drinks that I ordered were good. The best part of dinner was the band playing, Floyd and the Walkmen. I probably would have eaten whatever they brought me if that band was playing. Excellent entertainment!"

  • "We had 7:15 reservations, we were promptly seated. I was worried about being bothered by the St. Patty's day crowd, but the back dinning room was perfest. Good job."

  • "Was able to reserve a table on Thursday for Friday before seeing a play. It was our first visit and we were impressed. Nice Happy Hour prices and reasonable pricing on our dinners. We would visit again."

  • "I made blind reservations here for my daughter and I before Wicked! I was apprehensive but what a surprise! They had musical themed drinks, great seating, fantastic service! The server even split the lunch for my daughter and I onto two plates for us! I had only mentioned we would share the meal! She also brought out ice cream special for my daughter. This was a great experience, affordable and fun!"

  • "Our group of 5 had reservations for 5:45. Traffic was awful so we were almost 20 minutes late! We were treated so gracious. I phoned ahead to notify. They were concerned for us and said not a problem. We walked in the door and was seated immediately although we were holding them up! Just an amazing staff and our waitress was wonderful......................the food! UNORGETTABLE. Thanks Nicholsons we will be back."

  • "Lovely place to eat before walking across the street to the Aronoff."

  • "Disappointed in atmosphere-made reservation almost 2 months in advance-guess if you don't REQUEST a certain spot you get a table stuck in the bar which was loud and not what I had in mind. Would be nice if they prompt you to select an area when reserving a table. Hostess was not very nice at first :( Also-they have large groups in the drop down on open table but they won't allow you to make a reservation for more than 4 without a phone call-defeats the purpose of being to make a reservation on line don't you think?"

  • "Nicholson's is excellent for dinner before an event at the Aronoff. The place is bustling, noisy at the front, but the service gets you to the play on time. Not only was our server prompt and at our ready, but the manager/hostess was checking in all the time. The shrimp pasta was garlicky, but very tasty."

  • "Nicholson's is convenient to the Aronoff & it was apparent that the servers were cognizant of the needs of those attending the performance. The menu is limited and the selections aren't the best for theatre going. Some small plate options and less fried food would be appreciated."

  • "Had an early dinner following Wicked at the Aronoff. Seated promptly and our server was fabulous! My buttermilk fried chicken was tender and juicy but the green beans that came with it were amazing. My friend had the fish and chips and said it was yummy as usual. We sat at one of booths facing the bar which is always fun for people watching."

  • "We started with duck fat fries which were delicious! The homemade catsup and lemon garlic aioli accompanied the fries wonderfully. I then had the salmon. I am not a huge fish person but the sides on that dish is what really made me choose this dish. I'm so glad I followed my stomach on this one! The salmon was extremely devine. It was like butter in your mouth. The Brussels sprouts and sweet potato hash was just as good as it sounded reading the description on the menu. I then ended with the pot de creme and the Galinda Sparkler which is around in honor of Wicked playing across the street. I made sure to finish every bite of my rich dessert."

  • "Great place to go before seeing a show at the Aronoff!"

  • "Nicholson's recently started a Sunday brunch buffet. Buffets are normally a no go for me, being semi-vegetarian and gluten free, but this one had great options. It's also quite inexpensive. (Less than half the cost of Sunday brunch at 360.) Their extensive scotch and beer offerings aren't much use at brunch; hopefully they'll add morning specific drinks to their offerings. In the mean time, it's much quieter than Nicholsoon's in the evening and a great place for a relaxing Sunday morning."

  • "My wife and I were on a business trip and decided to try this restaurant out. Good food at reasonable prices. A nice selection of Irish whiskeys and scotch. Our server was very helpful. We will visit this restaurant again."

  • "The establishment was full, and a good thing we had a reservation. We were seated promptly upon arrival, despite being about 10 minutes early. However, 30 minutes later the back room was empty as the theater goers had left. A nice selection of beers on tap, with several imports. Both my business associate and I had the fish and chips, which was good, particularly the duck fat fries. Fish was crisy without being greasy. Service was attentive without being pushy or obtrusive. Even when full, you can converse without shouting. Would recommend to anyone looking for a solid dining experience."

  • "Nicholson's was lovely! Our table was ready and available when we arrived even though we were a bit late. They put us all the way in the back which was just fine because we didn't have to worry about a lot of traffic. The food was excellent and we received a complimentary dessert for our birthday guest of honor!"

  • "The waiters wear kilts. 91 Scotches on the menu, Scotch eggs, and Shepherd's Pie. The only thing missing for us was Steak-and-Kidney Pie (maybe English, not Scotch?). Our server, Lisa, was friendly and efficient. The food was fresh and tasty. Good wines available as well as good Scotch. The decor is cosy and historical. Loved it!"

  • "My mom and I have been to Nicholsons lots of times and the server we had Saturday was down right awful. This is a resturant that we both love going to and our server has ruined a resturant for us. She took 10 minutes to take our drink order. When our appetizer was brought, mussels, she did bring additional plates or an additional fork, our fork was re-used for lunch. When our food came, it was obvious that it had bet under the warming lights for awhile. The fries were soggy, fish cold and sandwich missing turkey burger. The manager had to deliver our food, which was hot and prepared correctly. Our server then had an additude since our meal was taken care of by the manager. It will be awhile before we come back."

  • "A great dinner before heading to the Aronoff. As we entered we were directed to the hostess stand, past the bar area. Seated promptly for our reservation time in a cozy booth across from the bar. Waitress and staff were excellent. We had plenty of time and did not feel rushed. Husband loved the selection of single malt scotch and serving it neat with sides of ice and room temp water. We shared the beer cheese. It was very good. We both had the buttermilk fried chicken which was perfectly cooked. The Mac and cheese was ok but the green beans were delicious! Garlicky with bits of parm cheese - yum! And they offered to box our leftovers and stop in after the show to pick them up! Nice touch! A great experience all around!"
