innovation and excellence continuesOwner-chef Craft creates imaginative and delicious food courses. It is always a pleasure to dine there. The current location has a different ambiance than the previous location in Benton Park. However the food is the focus. The wait staff is friendly and helpful.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant in St. LouisBest restaurant in St. Louis hands down. Food is simply amazing. Wines are extremely well chosen. Service is friendly and efficient. Never rude or snobby. Niche is worth every penny. My only wish is that the chairs were more comfortable and the tables more private.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat did they do with Niche? What did they do with Niche? It was perfect and now it isn't No choice, too far over the top. Too foodie Finished the meal and then found a burger. I was still hungry.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSavor this gemMy spouse and I love Niche's tasting menu because it takes all the guesswork out of dining. You get a little bit of everything at the best quality. We completely trust the masterminds in the kitchen and revel in every plate that comes to the table. The wait staff are enthusiastic and knowledgable about the process and ingredients.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMtrendy, beautiful foodanother good meal, but small portions. Limited entrees, so if you do not like one of the two main entrees, you are stuck. The limited selection can cause problems.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth the price. We went to Niche for our 30th anniversary. This is the most expensive restaurant I have ever visited and I was worried we might not be satisfied but the food and service were outstanding. Each item was carefully prepared and delivered. All of the courses were delicious and although I thought the portion sizes were small, I left feeling pleasantly full. Our compliments to the chef!
If you plan to enjoy a meal at Niche, you will not be disappointed.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive, but well worthExpensive, but well worth the money. Went here for a birthday, and I was in awe. Had the tasting menu.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMModernist cuisine isn't forModernist cuisine isn't for everyone but anyone in the St. Louis owes it to themselves to go to Niche at least once! Inventive combinations of flavors and textures coupled with impeccable service that never feels pretentious or overbearing ensures that you will have a magical evening. Although I could argue with some of the food choices, especially the brussels sprouts which were overwhelmed by the overly salty broth, there was always something new and interesting around the corner. The short ribs were as excellent as you would expect from a modernist restaurant. Overall, a delightful dinner in a thoughtful setting.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSensationalThis was the most enjoyable dinner I have had in years.
The service was impecabble.
The staff was Awesome.
and the FOOD was to die for.
It is a restaurant everyone should try at least once, you won't be disappointed.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe flavors were deliciousThe flavors were delicious of the unique menu. However, my husband and I were both hungry after dinner was over. Granted we had the 4 course dinner, but we didn't want to pay any more than we already did. This place is expensive.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the chef's tastingWe had the chef's tasting menu at the chef's counter - amazing! Every dish was meticulously presented and each one tasted better than the last. We went for our 10th wedding anniversary and the staff made sure that we were spoiled from the moment we arrived until we left. Such a great experience and one I would definitely recommend.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA Culinary DelightMy boss was in town and he specializes in the development and operations of fine restaurants. He was impressed!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic, concentrated intenseFantastic, concentrated intense flavors, unusual textures, well matched wine pairings, one of the best meals ever!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThere is no doubt this restaurantThere is no doubt this restaurant is fit for Foodies. The tasting menu is a work of art designed to delight both the eye and the palate. It is a wonderful food experience!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing, talented, creativeAmazing, talented, creative chefs! Friendly and professional staff. Love this place- can't say enough great things!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a wonderful experience. What a wonderful experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and our server, Jennifer, was great! Our dinner was the best.....even better than we expected. Thanks for making our evening so special.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the four course pre-fixWe had the four course pre-fix dinner and enjoyed everything we had for dinner.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNiche continues to set theNiche continues to set the bar for exquisite dining experiences. Chef Craft has no equal when it comes to creating cuisine that it delicious, beautiful, and creative. The staff is informed, engaged, and professional. Niche is arguably the best restaurant in the Midwest.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTesting menu was a'OK, I expectedTesting menu was a'OK, I expected better from Niche. I like "old Niche" better. Some of the dishes were mediocre at best. Will probably return.
But, big thanks for accommodating for a gluten-free guest4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTook sweetie for a birthdayTook sweetie for a birthday and it was fabulous. The most important thing is that she was happy.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOur overall experience wasOur overall experience was outstanding! Easily the best dining experience I've had in Saint Louis yet, and I don't see anyone around who could top it. We want to thank everyone, especially the kitchen, for our wonderful evening. The toasted garlic fluff in the soup complimented the flavors in the soup so well, I loved it. Our server did a fantastic job at helping me order my drinks and had the tender make a drink for me not on the menu, which was so nice of her. We cannot wait to come back for a tasting menu again! Thanks!!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful eveningSuperb food! I've eaten at the old Niche and had one fantastic meal and several good ones. This matched the extraordinary meal. The idea of having a limited but exceptionally good menu is a good one. The chef is obviously challenging himself to try new things and having fun while he does so. I really enjoyed the examples of "modernist cuisine."3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNiche has yet to dissappoint.Niche has yet to dissappoint. When I need a great meal this is my first choice.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNiche has found a new nicheNiche's new location is beautiful. Open, spacious, high ceiling all of which helps with a lower noise level than the former location. As always, the chef's talents are an outstanding temptation. There are tempting menu items to choose from, but if you want to have the Niche experience, the carefully planned and beautifully executed chef's tasting menu is the only choice. The new menu is a little different, tasting menu or a choice of four courses. They no longer feature a varied list of entrees, just limited entrees and sides per evening. But, that said, it's still my favorite dining experience in St Louis. The innovative menu, tempting bouquet of flavors, creative preparations and innovative blend of ingredients are superb!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDictatorial But DeliciousI'm a little put off by the notion that you have to eat the chef's selections, either from a fixe price menu or a more elaborate tasting menu - and the more so because everyone at the table must agree to one or the other. But given that premise we ordered the tasting menu and spent the next 3 hours entranced and entertained by the succesive small but fabulous plates. In less capable hands I would have chaffed under the restricted options but the fact that Gerard and his staff overcame my negative predisposition speaks volumes.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food at a reasonable priceWhile the choice of menus is limited (prix fixe or tasting menu, no a la carte), the quality of the food more than makes up for it. Better to do a few things well than many things poorly. Prices were refreshingly reasonable ($85 for the tasting menu, $45 for wine pairings), and the pairings were of excellent quality, albeit not "fancy". Our only gripe is that the place is rather cramped and noisy - definitely not in the "elegant dining" category. Excellent value overall, though.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMnot for methe cuisine is daring and provocative. There are some that would say that this is an amazing experience. The service was amazing. the menu is however is too limited and the portions were too small for me. it was an experience, just one I would rather not repeat.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, my wife and I enjoyedOverall, my wife and I enjoyed our dinner at Niche. The only notable exception was the draft that blew in every time the front door was opened. It was a unwelcome blast of cold air. We are planni ng to recommend Niche to our son and wife when they visit St. Louis this summer.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMNiche is striving to be theNiche is striving to be the best and is well on the way. The staff overcame a couple of minor issues so that our evening was excellent3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe first three courses wasThe first three courses was amazing and gave us surprises how good it taste! The waitress was nice and patience to explain the menu to us. The dessert, however disappointed us. The presentation was nice but the taste was horrible.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, the food was amazing. As always, the food was amazing. The egg was probably the best I've ever had it, and the tuna was almost as memorable as an earlier, vitello tonnato-inspired dish that hooked me on the restaurant several years ago. Dia's bread was a wonderful starter; cocktails were great, especially The Beet's Knees. Service was flawless. The staff at Niche is what really makes dining here the impeccable experience it is. I will always miss the Benton Park location, as a resident of that area, but nothing has been lost -- and it's always a pleasure to see a great chef take his restaurant in a new and more creative direction. Thanks for having us!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThere's nothing negative IThere's nothing negative I can say about our dining experience. They went above and beyond. We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and, without prompting, they provided all the members at our table with glasses of complimentary champagne. The food was amazing and was delivered to the table at a nice pace.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCan STILL taste the flavors!Annual visit to Niche' did not dissapoint!!!
First, love the new location! But, I was a fan of the Benton Park location as well!
Second, as usual the food was mind-blowing!
Equally impressive was the service and Gerard Craft's appearance--love how he still is visible in his restaurants!
Finally, my experience can be summed up in the fact that we were STILL talking about the food almost a month later; the flavor!!!
Highly recommend Niche' to anyone!2/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
