This isn't a "grab a quick bite before the Fox" type of place. Plan on staying 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The cocktail list is TO DIE FOR. We wanted to try them all. Alas, so many yummy drinks, so little time. The food was totally delicious. Totally unique. The set-up makes it easy to check out others' choices and is conducive to conversation with other diners. I enjoy that but if you don't, don't be scared away by that comment. Jennifer took great care of all of her tables but we could think we were her only table from the service we received. LOTS of personal attention from the entire wait staff.

I was there with my mature 10 year to celebrate a special evening for him. He is as much as a foodie as I am , he truly appreciated the personal service! The attention to detail that Niche delivered to please him and myself was amazing. My son enjoyed the many courses and discussing the ingredients and Flavors. It was one of enjoyable meals in every aspect one would want to experience with a favorite person and their palate;) Niche needs to be complimented that their food , service, and ambience can be enjoyed by all:)

We had the 4 course meal for our 8th wedding anniversary. The food looked great when it came out and the fusion of flavors were fantastic. Just about every dish had one ingredient that I would not normally eat, but when combined with the rest, really made the dish quite scrumptious. My wife is gluten intolerant, and Niche was very accomodating to her needs. Henry was our server, and he was quite informative, and delightful. He really helped us have a nice evening.

It hadn't been long since I had last been to Niche, but there were all new selections, seasonal and fabulous. The green bean salad was one of my favorites: unexpected, but bright combinations. The hen-of-the-woods mushroom was incredible. There wasn't anything ordinary.

  • Fussy, overpriced; tiny portions

We were so excited to try Niche, which has gotten incredible reviews. The prices did not upset us, because we expected really high-quality food. However, the food, while tasty, seemed incredibly fussy. Delicious ingredients were masked by overpowering dressings. Portions were tiny. If you don't get the 4-course option, the portions are itty-bitty and wildly overpriced. The mushroom dish , while tasty, was literally a ripoff -- $34 for 5 mushrooms? I don't care how great they are, that is too much money.

From start to finish, our dining experience at Niche was excellent! My husband and I were treated to a fabulous meal and superb accommodations. Sitting at the "Chef's Window", we were warmly welcomed to the restaurant as each chef greeted us. We chose a "4 course meal", and each course was amazing by itself. The colors, flavors, and textures all provided beautiful presentation, as well as mouth watering enjoyment of each sweet and savory combination. The wait staff was timely and prompt, and fully attended to every step of the meal. We look forward to returning and enjoying the seasonal variety that is offered on the menu!

Celebrated our ten year anniversary at Niche. Great food and great environment. The Very Good for ambiance mainly comes from the fact that it's a small restaurant and you sit right with others. That being said, we knew that going in and it was still amazing. Food was incredible and something that was perfect for our celebration.

Our experience at Niche was excellent. Five stars for the food and service cannot describe the experience. Each dish is created with ingredients that most of us would never think about. I describe it this way: Chef Craft and his team spend as much time creating the bottom layer of a dish as they do the top, sometimes even more. When presented to you the server explains, in detail, every ingredient in the dish. We ordered the four course. During the dinner the Chef also sent out tidbits of other dishes. They were equally fantastic. The recommendation: GO TO NICHE! Reservations are a must.

10 course tasting menu had nice balance of flavors in each dish, well executed, good pacing, perfect serving sizes, interesting twists without venturing too far into the odd gastronomy arena. Wine pairings were very well done; definately the way to go with the 10 courses. Very nice staff, front and in open kitchen. Comfortable, cooperative collegiality is nice to see.

Had a great date night! Went on a Monday, which has a special reduced menu with more provincial fare. Thank you for that opportunity! Food quality was outstanding and with high skill of preparation. Taste combinations were well balanced and smartly arranged. Unfortunately, as with many other newer age restaurants, the portion size is inversely proportional to the prices. I left with a very satisfied palate, but still was a little bit hungry......

We had a very enjoyable anniversary dinner at Niche. The four-course menu was interesting, a great combination of taste and textures, and just the right amount of food. Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly and provided helpful recommendations. With high ceilings and hard surfaces, it is loud so it has an energetic but not necessarily romantic ambience, IMHO. We would recommend it to foodie friends.

This dining experience finds you at the mercy of the chef. For the uninitiated like myself, the menu does not have items I would ordinarily order, however given that it is prix fixe, the choice is already made for you. Thus the chef forces you to experience something "new" and the experience is wonderful. Every bite is a novelty. Spices are faint but felt. The quality of ingredients is incredibly high. Yes it costs a lot, but worth it in my view.

This is just an amazing restaurant! It is pricey, but if you have the money to spend, just the best, most interesting place in St. Louis! The egg benedict is addicting. Each of the first course choices was great. The zucchini soup was so unusual with a hint of mint. Peas were wonderful, as were carrots. Pork belly and quail were so tasty. Had the steak as the 3rd course and done perfectly. Cool space, but very noisy. Tables are close, which was fun on Saturday as we got acquainted with the couple next to us and shared some of our food choices. If you haven't already gone, go!

This was our first visit to Niche since it moved to Clayton. We were relieved to see that little had changed from the fantastic, all around experience that a dinner here entails--including the innovative cocktails (even sans Ted Kilgore). We would have given the entire experience a full 5 starts, but a few of the wine pairings were ever so slightly off the mark with the courses, which made this particular visit a 4 1/2 star (still marvelous).

This is a place for outstanding and creative food experience - the "Pork Belly" just melt in your mouth and taste is outstanding- The "Baetje Farms Cheese" dessert was another highlight, as well as the "Berger Bluff Carrots" as a starter: You just have to try all the different food, cause they are all unique. There is not a long menu list to choose from, but what you get to choose from is very good quality and innovative food. When ever we are in St. Louis we just have to go to Niche for dinner!! very highly recommended if you what something different.

From start to finish, everything that came out of the kitchen was outstanding! We picked our own dishes from the four-course menu and had the staff pair wine with each. Snap peas had great flavor combinations and the carrots with burnt ends and crunchy quinoa was excellent. Whitefish was a standout. Although inventive, the quail ball could be skipped. The kitchen team pushes the envelope on what you think might be standard items. Ask your server to explain the dishes because they could be off the wall--in a good way. We are from Chicago and Niche could without question easily be part of our restaurant scene.

The positives: Flavors were wonderful. Presentation an A+. The not so positives: The portions were definitely not sufficient, unless perhaps you indulge in the prix fixed menu of four dishes. I was the only one in my party of three who did not order four courses. Two of us ordered the pork belly and one serving was pure fat. Overall it was too expensive.

The vegetarian options were great - the hen of the woods is outstanding and definitely worth a try. Loved Dia's Cheese Bread and the fact that it is gluten-free was a delightful surprise. The restaurant featured an open kitchen where skilled staff churned out dish after delicious dish in a coordinated, highly disciplined elegant manner - a pleasure to watch. Kudos to Chef Kraft! Definitely an experience I would like to repeat. The understated candle accompanying my dessert plate was a nice touch recognizing this was my birthday celebration.
