Newton's TableNewtons table a winnerMother's day early dinner, three generations at a table, and the food was fantastic. The quiet atmosphere allowed us to hear each other, but also not be afraid to laugh out loud without disturbing others. The staff were attentive, and worked with every member of the dining party on their specific needs. The food was fantastic - and the menu varied enough for all to be happy. I am so impressed and will be planning more special occasion dinners there, as well as the ad hoc "got a free night so let's go out" spontaneous reservation. My highest recommendation.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMdinner was great. Our friendsdinner was great. Our friends were running a little late and we did not feel rushed or pressured to sit down. Had a nice long meal, which was delicious. We had some appetizers, main courses and 1 dessert - all quite yummy. Would definitely recommend.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place we take friendsLove this place we take friends here all the time and they love the ambience and the food!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful meal, if priceyThe beet salad was one of the prettiest I'd ever seen. And tasty. The main course (duck) was a bit small, but lovely. It's not a good place for a growing boy or a pregnant woman -- not enough food for either category -- but enough for anyone else. As an adult woman, I left the table satisfied.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat...with one caveatWe love Newton's Table -- it's our favorite restaurant in Bethesda. By now we've sampled most of the items on the fixed menu. Rather than rhapsodize about each, let me point out the one item we suggest avoiding -- the Fuzu. Too salty and generic. Better versions of the same thing are routinely available in any upscale Asian restaurant. Other than that, though, dig in with confidence!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWould definitely make theWould definitely make the trek from Northern Virginia for this again4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the drive!Worth the drive and so understated and relaxed. We just enjoyed the "apps" and shared. Will return to checkout seasonal menu.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA diamond among rhinestones!A diamond among rhinestones! From our 1st drink at the bar down to our dessert everything was amazing. The salmon and tuna entrees were outstanding as was the service. I can not say enough great things about this restaurant. I will definiteley be back and will absolutely recommend it to my friends!! A bit pricey but worth every penny spent!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Newton's Table!Newton's Table is our go to spot in Bethesda for special occasions, happy hours, and those Friday nights when we're just craving kobe wontons and a ruby slipper. Always fabulous service, food, and drink!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were thrilled with ourWe were thrilled with our experience at Newton's Table. The ambiance is relaxing and refreshing. Simply but elegantly decorated. The food is what was amazing. Each dish was a work of art and every mouthful was a burst of flavor. We will recommend this restaurant to everyone.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat's to dislike? The foodWhat's to dislike? The food is excellent, the ambience is good (not noisy, but not dead silent either), the service is wonderful. There are many tempting entrees to choose from and I can particularly recommend the mussels appetizer.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food not so great portionsThe place had wonderful food. With some dishes we thought they were a bit small, but liked them.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Restaurant in DCI hesitate to praise Newton's publicly, lest reservations become too difficult...but Newton's Table is hands-down the best restaurant in Washington DC. Chef Dennis Friedman and Robert are as talented as they come and make a fantastic duo- the dining experience they create is, quite simply, impeccable. Best meal I've had in years, with service to boot.
I hear Chef Dennis is gracing the masses with a new quick casual concept: Newton's Noodles- having tried their "fuzu" I know it will be a runaway success and hope they continue to expand, for all our sakes.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBethesda's gemFor wonderful food and great ambiance this is the "go to" place in Bethesda.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a spectacular experience. We had a spectacular experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious-fresh, perfectly prepared. I had the red snapper on a bed of creamy jasmine rice with a ginger lemon broth. The fish was crisp and seared on the outside and moist on the inside. My husband had the bison steak which was tender and flavorful. The gougeres were cheesy little puffs of heaven! We will definitely return to Newton's Table.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an outstanding experienceWe had an outstanding experience at Newton's Table - our first time there. The food was really special, the service just the right amount of attention and the atmosphere unpretentious but full of attention to detail. The noise level was quite low - not typical these days. Two of us had the house special, Fuzu, which was so good I would come back just to have it again. We already commented that we would bring our very picky New York foodie friend here when next she visits.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is delicious. WeThe food is delicious. I've been in this town for 15 years and this was one of my top 5 dinners of all time here!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely restaurant with excellentLovely restaurant with excellent caring service. I like to get a deal sometimes and the lunch special fills that need. My previous experience was for a tasting menu which was excellent and sent me back for lunch.
I will be back very soon.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic experienceWent there with my wife for our 10-year anniversary. We ordered the fixed price 5-course option where the chef surprises you with his choices and the sommelier provides perfectly paired wine tastings. The dishes offered an exciting variety of flavors combined with interesting presentation and expert preparation. The service was engaging and attentive.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBeing allowed to bring ourBeing allowed to bring our own wine (for a mere $15 corkage fee) was a huge plus, but the food alone would have been worth it! Don't miss the tasting menu!3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMApple of my eyeNewton's Table is one of our favorites. Chef Dennis' excellent food is creative, fresh, and would delight any foodie or newbie alike. The menu is not intimidating, but offers wonderful seasonal items with a creative flair as well as staples that will have you coming back again. And the desserts - YUM.
Service is professional and friendly, but not stuffy. Timing between courses was excellent. Servers were attentive and knowledgeable.
Personal favorites:
Apps: Nori Tuna, Short Rib, Kobe Wontons
Dinner: Coconut Fuzu, Bison Ribeye, Salmon, Mushroom Ravioli
Dessert: Banana Caramel Roll, Chocolate Crunch, Homemade Ice Cream
Drinks: Ruby Slipper, Sazerisaac, Pear Pomatini
This restaurant is a real gem.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant. AllExcellent restaurant. All food items were delicious. Service was impeccable. I will definitely return to Newton's Table.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a truly wonderfulThis is a truly wonderful restaurant right in the heart of Bethesda. The owner/manager actually called me by name as though expecting me while many managers look at you like you're a martian from outer space - even if you have a reservation, The wait staff hits just the right tone, friendly, knowledgeable but not cloying. But the real attraction is the food - possibly the best meal I have had in years - maybe ever. It was red snapper over exotic grains with the lightest, most delicious broth. I returned for lunch, which is a mere $15 for appetizer and entree, and it was a similar experience and equally delicious. And you can carry on a conversation. Definitely my new favorite place to dine in Bethesda.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMReally outstanding. LovedReally outstanding.
Loved the beet salad and the salmon!3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful restaurant for dinnerWonderful restaurant for dinner and has a great lunch-time special. Will return again for sure3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant, excellentExcellent restaurant, excellent food, excellent service and not noisy but a bit pricey3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional food and serviceI think this is now the best restaurant in Bethesda. All our dishes were original and delicious. Special mention for the 14 Ozzie bison ribeye which was not too large after all because it all disappeared - meltingly soft. The nori tuna was as great as advertised. And the service was exceptional, just the right level of attention without hovering or hurrying.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was excellentThe service was excellent and the appetizer (Kobe Wonton) and bread was amazing! The main dishes were a bit too salty. We had the organic fried chicken and the fuzu noodles. It was too salty for our taste and we actually preferred the appetizer more.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the best meal I'veThis was the best meal I've had in Bethesda and one of the finest I've had in the entire DC area!2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant never failsThis restaurant never fails to please! The Bison entre was outstanding. . Two days later I am thinking of how to get another dinner together and do a repeat.2/21/2013 12:00:00 AMNot cheap, but very enjoyableMy wife and I dined at Newton's Table on a Monday night, so we knew we may not get their "first string" chef and staff, but we had a lovely experience. We were greeted warmly, the service was excellent and unobtrusive, the restaurant was pleasantly quiet and calm. The appetizers (tuna) and salads were very good, the entrees (sea bass and bison) were very well prepared, and the wine list was fine for our tastes, if a bit pricey (just over twice what we pay at the wine store for the same bottle). The meal was well paced, we were thanked appreciatively when we left, and overall, the experience was excellent. The one off note was an angel food cake dessert, which was, well, okay. Overall, we would return.2/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was absolutely deliciousThe food was absolutely delicious and the waiter was wonderful and very patient as we sat there and closed down the restaurant! There may be a vibrant bar scene, as they do have a small bar area, but not on the Sunday night we were there.2/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I wandered inMy wife and I wandered in here for the first time when we were looking for something a little quieter than other restaurants we frequent in Bethesda, Maryland. But, we didn't want to compromise on food. We were greeted at the door by Robert who was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. His knowledge of the menu down to the fine details and the menu itself led us to have a seat for an early Friday dinner. The Salt and Pepper Shrimp were a fantastic start... sauce is outstanding and shrimp cooked the right way. I went for the Bison Ribeye and my wife had the Tuna Nigella. The portions are reasonable and we left pleasantly full. Service is outstanding, even compared to Bethesda's best. Perfect ambiance. We are now regulars!2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPresentation of food is outstandingPresentation of food is outstanding! Sunday night is the only drawback as they ran out of main courses. Otherwise, 2nd choice food was still very good.2/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAn amazing meal!Service at the bar was not great...the ambiance is just OK...and we had to wait about 40 minutes past our reservation time for our table...but once we got to our table it was worth it. The food was exceptionally good...well worth the wait. And the top notch service at the table made up for the experience at the bar.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food/service etc.Excellent food/service etc. But the portions are too small2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is consistently veryThe food is consistently very good. Menu is varied. Try the Nori Tuna, gougeres, and Fuzu (similar to Pad Thai) Love the chocolate crunch.2/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent andThe food was excellent and the presentations were gorgeous. I had two specials, a shrimp soup and a bison rib eye rubbed with coconut and served over a salad. Both we inventive and delicious. My friend had the tuna appetizer and it was so beautifully served that I wanted to take a picture of it. It was also excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.1/29/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat for dinner and now for lunchUp until a couple of weeks ago I had only been to Newtown's Table for dinner. It is my one of my favorite restaurants in Bethesda but I never really thought of going there for lunch because it is a bit expensive. When I learned that they have a $15 lunch special that includes a pick of one of three appetizers and a choice of all but 2 of the entrees I decided to give it a try. The first time I was a bit disappointed because it was the first time I had ordered something that I didn't love (the blackened tuna roll) but when I went back a couple of days ago I fell in love with the restaurant all over again (I had the fish special that was amazing). I now can recommend it as stongly for lunch as I always have for dinner.12/12/2012 12:00:00 AMWe selected this restaurantWe selected this restaurant for its interesting menu and great location in downtown Bethesda. The ambience in the restaurant was very nice, and even will full seating, it was not overly noisy at all. The appetizers that we had were very good, especially the beef carpaccio. The wine list was also very nice and a great selection. However, we were somewhat disappointed with our main course selection. We both ordered the Maryland crab cakes because the waiter mentioned that the crab cakes were made with 100% lump crab meat and no filler. However, when the dinners were presented to us, we did not know that there were going to be deep fried on the outside. So it was really fried crab cakes and not what we were expecting - disappointing.12/11/2012 12:00:00 AM
