Diner Reviews
  • "This is a lovely bistro hidden away in the Mayfair Hotel.....well within reach of the theater district."

  • "Too expensive, even for NYC - almost $60 for an English muffin, yogourt parfait, 2 OJs and 2 coffees. Service was friendly but very slow (not enough staff)."

  • "We had excellent service and very good food. The atmosphere was surprisingly quiet. It was not at all crowded for Sunday lunch, but was still appreciative of a timely seating for our reservation. It was especially convenient for meeting someone at Hyatt."

  • "I was there for the first time with my family for a Mother's day brunch. The brunch menu is extensive. There is something for everybody. The presentation of the food was excellent. We sat on the window side over looking E42nd Street. Our server, Eddie was also great. Very pleasant and attentive. Definitely coming back. "

  • "Had a business lunch here during the week. Fast service and good food. It's a hotel restaurant so it's not cheap but definitely worth the price. "

  • "I had a business lunch with a colleague who was staying at the Grand Hyatt for a conference. The location was ideal because we had a limited time to catch up before his next appointment. The service was prompt and efficient, which suited our purposes. Also, the convenient lunch options of 1/2 sandwich and soup or salad were perfect for our appetites and schedules. We both had a small cup of manhattan clam chowder, which was very good. My turkey club was tasty and my colleague enjoyed his pastrami as well. The prompt service allowed us a few extra minutes of conversation and my colleague got to his appointment with time to spare."

  • "Good food, great atmosphere that helps calm my day from time to time."

  • "We booked a table here as the Hyatt was close to Broadway and on our way to the hotel. We were expected and got what we went for: a quick late night bite. The service was ok. The food good for what we payed, but nothing special."

  • "Food was good and service very good. Bar and restaurant are cold."

  • "Went for dinner and had a wonderful meal. There were four of us so we tried different things and it was all delicious with portions that were definitely NOT skimpy. Three shared appetizers - beet salad, scallops with thick cut bacon and creamy, creamy yummy mac & cheese - and four entrees - skirt steak, pork chop, roast chicken and snapper with mushrooms (tonight's special). Everyone had a great time. Service was perfect with just the right level of attentiveness without being over-bearing. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Breakfast service was poor - hard to get drink refilled and no attention at all, post-delivery of food. Oatmeal was watery/soupy. Prices excessive but maybe what you would expect in a hotel. Lunch was less busy and service & food (a fish entree) both better."

  • "The restaurant motif was stark and uninviting. Very cafeteria-style and institutional-like in its decor. It was not soft and inviting. Getting up to the restaurant using those stairs was a feat if one, like me, just had knee surgery. Those stairs are a killer. However, once seated, the human element kicked in and the wait staff was absolutely wonderful and sensitive to our every need. They anticipated what we wanted and with grace and alacrity, it was there for us. Good for business meetings, not for a cozy, calming lunch or dinner."

  • "Very good for small business meet and confidential discussions"

  • "Not a big fan of the food here for the price, also the waiter had to ask and re-ask what we ordered."

  • "Two weeks ago, I organized a breakfast meeting at NY Central with some high-level UN officials. Ambience of the restaurant is good, although our table was right next to the kitchen, with very high noise levels. Lots of banging of pots and pans, yelling by kitchen staff made it quite embarrassing for me considering who was at breakfast, which included a UN Special Rapporteur, a former head of state and other important women. I also thought the waitstaff's chatty attitude to these women (all of whom were from another country) was not totally appropriate. I would recommend the restaurant again as a good, central place to meet, but for more informal purposes. Great for meeting a friend for a meal, or for a one-on-one meeting."

  • "excellent food and menu selection. the service was TOP notch. We will be returning again, and recommending to all of our friends and colleagues."

  • "I come here often for business breakfasts. It is extremely convenient and the food is very good. However, for the second time in a row, I was overcharged for items never served! The service here is one extreme or the other: hovering servers interrupting every three seconds or the opposite. And unfortunately I had no time to chase down my waiter for the undelivered muffin that I was charged for. It is a shame it is so badly managed as this is a convenient burp sines breakfast spot with very good food."

  • "I had a business lunch with my client. Good atmosphere, convenient location. Great for business lunch for a small party. I'd like to try for dinner next time."

  • "Good food and perfect for business lunch. Waitstaff very attentive and quick to respond. The tables are small, considering the size of the dishes."
    Dined on 9/12/2013
  • "The restaurant was very small and noisy which was not what we expected. The food and service were good, but we hoped for a better ambience for our special romantic dinner out during vacation."

  • "This was a special 50th birthday treat and the meal was extremely nice, however we felt that both the meal and the drinks in the adjoining bar were a little pricey. Although the setting and the views over 42nd Street and Grand Central Station were superb."
    Dined on 6/8/2013
  • "The food was ok I think I could have made a turkey sandwich myself that would have tasted better...the staff was friendly and service was great...but the food was not anything to rave about...a little disappointed but I will go back for drinks!!!"

  • "The menu had changed from what was listed and we headed there looking specifically for souffle and it was no longer being served."
    Dined on 5/4/2013
  • "Suprisingly good for a hotel restaurant. Salad was excellent but the chicken entree which was good was a bit dry."
    Dined on 4/22/2013
  • "Not much to say. Good location to have a quick meeting over a quick bite but really limited menu, really not all that great and has absolutely no ambiance. Again, I was just there for a lunch meeting and it was conveniently located and quiet to have a meeting but I would never come there for any other reason."
    Dined on 4/18/2013
  • "Well spaced tables for business conversation. Minimal/no interruptive background music."
    Dined on 3/21/2013
  • "Overly pricey, small portions. Went there for lunch and hadn't been there for a while and was shocked at the pricing. I guess you pay for the scene. I won't be back."

  • "Ordered scallop dinner. My niece and I both had the same thing. Our scalloped had a weird taste to them and were tough and overlooked. Waitress was hard to get. We had reservations and our table was not ready so we sat at the bar for a few drinks and the host never came to get us. He just kept seating other guests. I walked over to see if we could be seated and still again had to wait. Ended up sitting in the bar to eat. Nice bar scene but I wouldn't recommend dinner. Paid 134.00 for two people for an awful dinner we didn't even finish the scallops"

  • "Good location quality service, and the pricing was reasonable, This was the dining at the hotel of where we were at so we had breakfast there a few times and found it to be enjoyable at reasonable rates, but it is not what I would consider high end dining by any means, more of a nice place to grab a bite if you happen to be staying at the hotel or good place for a business meeting but not the type of place to go for a special evening also."

  • "This was my second experience of dining at this restaurant. I went for Thanksgiving and they served a special menu for the day which I cannot fault. The food was a modern twist on the classic turkey day feast, delivered fast and presented well. It tasted great, thick and creamy butternut squash soup, moist turkey and stuffing with winter veg' puree and a simply fantastic pumpkin and caramel tart that I would happily have over and over again! At $65 it was more expensive than last year's offering but still reasonable compared to some. The restaurant is well designed and my table had a great view over 42nd street and would urge fellow diners to ask to get these tables if not offered. The service was excellent and would visit again."

  • "We celebrated Thanksgiving dinner here. Nice portions for all. The turkey was flavourful and moist, our children even complimented how good it was, desert was apple pie and pumpkin pie with house made vanilla ice cream, yum.."

  • "I had never been to NY Central but the location is hard to beat and the new decor was really great. The food was excellent though expensive, not surprising given its location within a hotel. They were very accommodating of our having a toddler with us as well. I'd definitely go back."
    Dined on 10/18/2012
  • "There was no hostess, when asked if appetizer could be had as a main course, a double portion was served (way too much) at a cost of 2 times the app meaning $36! for lunch!"
    Dined on 10/2/2012
  • "Attractive and convenient mid-town setting. It should be noted that it is in a hotel and does not have direct street access, since one can get confused looking for any indication of it along the street itself. If you're in the Grand Hyatt, there you are! So it's a good place to meet people who are arriving via Grand Central Station, yet it is well removed from the bustle of the station. The food was excellent and so was the service, gracious and professional."
    Dined on 9/24/2012
  • "It's a hotel lobby restaurant. It's also not good."
    Dined on 9/22/2012
  • "Great place for a corporate dinner - eclectic menu, very good wine and cocktail list."

  • "I think it's very expensive. No way it's only $$$."

  • "A wonderful, convenient, peaceful oasis near Grand Central Terminal. The menu offerred perfect lunch options for each of us, and the food was delightfully fresh and well prepared. Very professional staff were so helpful."

  • "Hostess had that horrible NY "attitude" when I requested a certain table for a business breakfast meeting. Service was inattentive. Food was good, though."
    Dined on 8/9/2012
  • "The waitstaff was very attentive and knowledgeable. They provided great recommendations for our dinner, which my mom got the chicken by recommendation, which was delicious, and we had the Souffle with bananas which was great! The food portions were large, we shared 1 side (the creamed spinach - mmm!) between 3 of us and it was just enough. The servers were always there to refill the waters or bring more bread. The wine list was large - I had a delicious glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I did feel that $15 is a bit hefty for a glass of wine though. The burget was massive and the fries were delicious, but again $20 for a burger seems excessive, even for NYC. Overall, a great spot for a special occassion."
