New Leaf Restaurant & BarOutstanding Location w/ Good FoodHad a lovely lunch on a beautiful spring day. The weather was perfect, the food was spot on for a light meal, and Fort Tryon was blossoming into what will be its' full summer glory. It's hard to believe that this location is so easily accessible from mid-town. As always, I look forward to these visits which I make multiple times throughout the year. Highly recommended.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA rose among the thornsAs a last mintue thought I booked New Leaf as a quick mid town get away on a beautiful spring day. It was perfect. This place is a gem.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, as always.Excellent food, as always. Very noisy the night we went.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Leaf Perfect to Usher in SpringThis was a perfect way to usher in Spring. The outdoor seating is the way to go. Indoors seems gloomy, not too appealing. Our food was very good, a cut above any of the other local places but not over the top. Recommend the shrimp salad. Virgin Mary was outstanding, on the very hot side, perfect for lunch or brunch times. Our waiter, Mark, was a delight, very professional. Altogether a wonderful experience followed by a walk through the flower garden - wonderful sculpture exhibit and doggy heaven.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLocated in Fort Tryon Park,Located in Fort Tryon Park, the restaurant is in a beautiful woodland setting. We ate at New Leaf on a perfect spring day and enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the patio. Service was attentive and friendly. Our food was fresh, well prepared and presented. I had the salmon and my husband had the French onion soup and the Caesar salad. French onion soup was good and Caesar was huge and good but not your traditional Caesar. My salmon was excellent. We visited the Cloisters after lunch...good day trip!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the moment that my husbandFrom the moment that my husband and I walked into the restaurant up until the moment that we stepped out, after a lovely dinner, we felt nothing but welcome. The wait staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The wine and cocktail options were not too extensive and we were both very satisfied with our choices. The Flash Fried Calamari as an appetizer was perfect. The sauce that accompanied the calamari, a mint-cilantro chutney, complimented the flash fried taste very nicely. My main course was the House Made Pappardelle which came with crisp, fresh vegetables. My husband had the hamburger with cheddar cheese. The meat was prepared exactly as he ordered, the cheese was melted just right. We were too full for dessert. Next time!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways have a great time thereAlways have a great time there with friends. Love the Friday night live jazsz. The new chef has nicely tweaked the the old menu. Looking forward to more.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasant dining experienceVery pleasant dining experience in a wonderful location4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food, great serviceWonderful food, great service and a beautiful location!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFor food allergies & sensitivitiesThis restuarant is perfectly located near the Cloisters. The food is significantly of higher quality than most general dining experiences away from home. It is accomodatiing for my severe food allergies and sensitivities with extra care from the staff's assurance that all are knowledegable and very attentive. If raw foodies and vegans are concerned about eating out, this is a special visit. With the best experience, I highly recommend that this is a place that will be on my return list when I visit the cloisters again.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Leaf is a lovely placeNew Leaf is a lovely place with delicious, beautifully presented food.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMy teen daughter watched theMy teen daughter watched the snow come down while we were dining and she remarked "it feels just like Narnia".3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMIt started with Daniel theIt started with Daniel the bartender being warm, friendly, professional and makes agood drink. Then we went into the main dining room and met Holly who was the consummate server, all while being outgoing and giving.
Then the food incredible! And even though we did not order dessert Holly saw to it that one was sent over, with a candle, as it was my birthday. Great place to celebrate it!
We cannot wait until the warm weather when we will definitely go back for al fresco dining.
One negative the only way in from the parking is the lower (service) entrance which is in need of a facelift. Not a good first impression but everything else was so wonderful it wipes that awa3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMone in a millionAs far as I'm concerned, the ONLY restaurant on the northern end of Manhattan. And the incomparable setting, nestled in the trees on the ridge above the Hudson is literally priceless.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNear the Cloisters, and a find!A non-profit restaurant, part of Bette Midler's park project, only 3 blocks from an A train, about a block from a Manhattan bus. Wonderful, mostly local food. We shared perfect fried calamari, a delicate avocado and artichoke salad, and a superb crab cake., and all chose the same thing from the fourteen or so selections: duck roast (breast) with baked apple and grits and cheese side dishes--wonderful. Sorbets and maple cream brulee were outstanding.. We went in March, but I imagine in season it's exqusitie Lovely service,, intimate (only 14 tables) and soft jazz in the cozy bar on the night we were there.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPretty cafe in Ft. Tryon ParkPretty cafe in Ft. Tryon Park near the Cloisters in an old stone building, surrounded by trees. Relaxed atmosphere, like being in the country. There's also an outdoor garden patio for dining. Food is very good, and ambience is romantic after dark. Note: no air-conditioning.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
