We've celebrated many occasions here in the past, but this attempt for our 10-year-anniversary will be the last one. We arrived 30-minutes early with the intention on having a drink before dinner. There was no one to check us in at the front, so we went straight to the bar. The bartender was obviously having a rough evening because he was very annoyed when we sat down and tried to quickly move us to a table. The table was not what we had in mind, so we said we didn't mind waiting and were in no hurry. He then proceeded to ignore us for the next 10 minutes while he made drinks and cleaned bar ware. Only once more turning to tell us "I can't help you, I'm juggling too many things tonight." With that, we decided to go spend our $$$ elsewhere.

New City is tops in Topeka when it comes to seafood and tenderloin. I had the most awesome salmon during our last visit. Great wines, friendly atmosphere. This is where we go for all great food. Always great food.

We are always on a search for quality food in Topeka, and we had high hopes for this restaurant. Although the menu reminded us of fine dining, my husband was displeased with the special. My scallops were rather good. However, for Topeka the prices are a bit too high. Hope this restaurant grows and reconsiders their pricing. We really wish there were more fine dining places in Topeka so hopefully this restaurant can stay!

Best quiet fine food in Topeka. Have eaten here for years. You normally won't find places like this in towns the size of Topeka.

Not good for over 6 people as the place is small. They do run out of food if several people order the same thing. In our case it was the roasted chicken sandwhich.

We stood at the door for a long time while a waitress and bartender just looked at us. Finally they acknowledged we were there. Another waiter finally came over and I told him we had a reservation but he didn't seem to care and didn't even ask us what our name was. The service was very slow and they were not friendly at all and did not even ask if we would like to order a drink and took the wine glasses off the table all together. They bussed a couple of tables before they even came over to see if we wanted anything. The food was mediocre, the portions were very small for the high price but we were full - lower price for what you get. Not once did they ask how our food was or if we needed anything. Barely received a thank you.

First time guests. The initial seating and service was good. We had reservations and were seated promptly. The service was odd - it appeared we had 2 waitpersons - and both must have though the other was taking care of us. Had to ask twice for a water refill. Waited almost 20 minutes to get check after our plates were taken away. We were't eating dessert or drinking coffee. I finally had to ask for the check. Drinks were good, I heartily recommend the butternut squash bisque - amazing! I had snapper and my guest also had fish. Both were tasty but overcooked. Will likely give it another try as the menu had several other offerings that looked good.

  • Very nice restuarant for Topeka

Very nice restuarant for Topeka Kansas. The pork Tenderloins with raspberry sause was excellent. my wife had the veal medallions which was as good as she said she has ever had.I like the Killer salad but the lettuce was mechanically shredded which put em off a little. I would have preferred larhger pieces than thin strands of lettuce. The taste and fixings on the sald was delicious. The portions were goood size and it left littel room for desert. Our waiter did a great job, he ahd an assistant helping him. the restuarant was not crowded and the food came out on time. We will be back again.
