Nessa never lets us down - I have
been 4 times in the past 4 weeks, and the service is consistent and attentive, the food is always very good (and good value) and the atmosphere is fun and energetic. Kid-friendly early in the evening, which is nice for a family dinner at something other than a pizza joint. The large and small pasta options make it easier to sample the menu over more courses, and I have yet to order something that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed (I've sampled widely from the menu). The staff will help you order more of a family style for the table to share if that's what you like, and there is usually at least one special that makes it on our order. Definitely our favorite neighborhood place!"

We were seated immediately .
Restaurant very busy with real mix of people. Nice vibe as cozy local gem. Food was nothing special but also not expensive. Presentation not notable. Service friendly but very rushed, even though no one waiting for tables. Fun ambiance, will try again."

we ate here recently and had a
wonderful meal. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Very attentive staff. Highly recommend."

Met friends for brunch. The menu
was small but really varied choices. We each ordered something different and all was delicious. Comfortable and eclectic setting and the service was attentive and not overly so. We were able to chat for awhile without being disturbed. Nice and relaxing meal. Would definitely revisit this place and maybe for dinner this time."

The food was great but a limited
menu. Salads are overpriced. Service was great. Felt very comfortable there. Felt like a small city restaurant."
Dined on 3/29/2014
The food and service is always
very good at Nessa. You are greated warmly and treated very nicely throughout your visit. The food is always really good. It's a very cozy restaurant, too!"

My wife and I have been slowly
discovering restaurants near our home. Nessa has been on our list for a while. We took advantage of restaurant week. I expected smaller portions, but, no, the food was substantial. The menu offerings were acceptable, although not super exciting. We had meatballs for an appetizer and a salad. Salad was boring, but meatballs were huge and delicious, served on polenta which complimented well. I had a pork chop scarpariello, and my wife had chicken under a brick. The chop was really delicious, and sizable. The chicken was pedestrian, and not very well seasoned. Lemon helped a bit. The sides were not generously portioned, nor was the bread (two slices). Dessert was excellent. Nessa will see us again."

We went for my daughters birthday
and Nessa did not disappoint. Our server was friendly and attentive, food was delicious and paced perfectly. The Italian meatballs and risotto appetizer was flavorful as was the salmon and the pork chop scarpariello. For dessert there wee great offerings including the Nutella panini and espresso chocolate mousse. Yum! We'll be back!"

It was a last minute decision to
dine at Nessa last Saturday evening. Let's face it, in the New York metropolitan area, Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen. Few offer anything extraordinary. While Nessa's menu is not necessarily unusual, the food is fit for a king! Try the meatball appetizer accompanied by risotto as it was excellent. On the same evening, two different pasta offerings were superb and cooked al dente. Finally, we really loved the dessert offerings which included chocolate mousse and Italian Cheescake. A return trip is planned!"

Food, service and ambiance are all
very good. Here are a few observations worth noting. Smaller pasta portions are too small as a main course and larger portions are, oddly, at least double the price and too large to eat at one sitting. Delicious and innovative bruschetta are small at three bucks a pop. Good-tasting bread, while included, is not served unless requested. Valet parking is helpful, as neighborhood lacks easy self-parking."

ordered short ribs a few months
ago and it was cooked perfectly. ordered it again last night and it was dry and overcooked leaving me disappointed :( service is good, ambience and decoration is good. we've been here quite a bit for a few years. it seems inconsistent at times, which makes us not come back for several months at a time to give it another chance. take out doesn't seem to travel well, best to eat there with drinks. kids menu is not an option, no pasta side dishes, another consideration if you have young kids."

We visited this Italian on a
Saturday night for a date night. From the moment we arrived in this restaurant which was never more than 50% full, we felt rushed. We each ordered a drink and an entrée. Our waiter was appalled that we did not order any "bruschetta," which was four tiny slices of bread with a shot glass filled with a topping. Turns out, if you do not order it, you don't get any bread or anything with your meal. We each received our tiny entrees about 10 minutes after ordering (and 5 minutes after our drinks). We actually had only each taken 1 sip at that point. Our entrees were so small we had to ask the waiter if they were full portions. Our "date" lasted 35 minutes and cost $80. Had to stop for food on the way home."
Dined on 3/1/2014
Overall, great experience. 2
negatives: can get very loud (ask for the back room if that bothers you)...and, bread is not a 'given' I felt like they were doing me a favor when I asked for it."
Dined on 3/1/2014
We ate here to celebrate
Valentine's Day a day late and what a great night ! The bruschetta are just so well done and tasty ! We split appetizers and again delish ! Dinner was wonderful and the nutella dessert was enough to make you cry it was so rich and delicious."
Dined on 2/15/2014
This was our second time and the
food was great. We were there on a busy night so it was rather loud but we were still able to hear can other."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Food was good but I found it
expensive for the place. Would I go there again? Yes."
Dined on 2/7/2014
Just tried Nessa. Food, service
and ambience were above expectations even though we'd heard nice things about the restaurant. Can be a little loud, so dine befoer 8 if you want a nicer experience. Very good authentic Italian food. Better service than most restaurants."

We've been to Nessa a few times
and have always been pleased. Good food, good atmosphere. One of our favorites!"
Dined on 1/18/2014
This place is kind of tucked away,
and we sometimes forget about it. But we were reminded what a great find it is... good food, good prices, and a fun spot. The only downside is that the bar area is really small... so if you want to have cocktails before dinner, I would recommend someplace else."

Decided to spend NYE at Nessa
which we always like a lot. Was told they were full and walked into a 30% full restaurant with our out of town guests. Server kept pressuring us to order appetizers even though they never turned over the table after our 8:30 res. The eggplant app came out cold which they took back and fixed. Pasta was very good as usual. Cheesecake and Nutella dessert not terrific. I would like to see Nessa return to it's roots, focus on improving service and add some new items to the menu. I like it there but they need to mix it up."
Dined on 12/31/2013
food and service good . Noise
level very high. Playing background music adds to the noise."
Dined on 12/28/2013
Nessa is a lovely restaurant, but
the quality has dropped a bit over the past year or so. Given the competition in the area, they need to do better. I am not ure we will return, but in the past, enjoyed several dinners at Nessa. We visited on a Saturday night,--the place was not busy, and several items were not available on the menu--moreoever, there were no specials, thus limiting the choices. Not good for a Saturday night. The service is always good but the food prep was only fair."
Dined on 12/7/2013
Had dinner here with 6 friends.
Good was good service initially was very good but as the night wore on the service did start to slow down. However not enough to stop me from going back. Over all a very nice restaurant with good good and not too expensive."
Dined on 12/12/2013
We have just discovered this
excellent local restaurant. We went early so it was not very crowded yet.The food was very good and authentic Italian. The quality was as good as it's high priced competitor just down the street. Service was prompt and non obtrusive. Parking may be a problem. We were told there is valet parking but it was not available when we went. We will go back often."

I have dined at Nessa many times.
It had been awhile since my last visit and this time it was a big disappointment. Service was poor. Uninterested, uninformative, non attentive. The restaurant was not busy. Servers standing around talking. We had to ask for bread after 10 min. The waiter never came over to check on our meal or to see if we wanted an additional drink. It was a good local spot but I don't think I will go again."
Dined on 11/30/2013
Overpriced for such small
portions. Food mediocre at best. Much better local Italuan options. Overall, very disappointed."
Dined on 11/29/2013
Everything we had was delicious
and served in a timely, but relaxed manner. Appreciated being able to order a half portion. I accidentally ordered the wrong wine and the waiter graciously took it back and gave me another. Wish I lived in the area and could go again easily."
Dined on 11/27/2013
Food was very good, wait staff
attentive and professional. A little pricey but within norms for the area."
Dined on 11/22/2013
Food was good and the menu was
terrific. The service wasn't as good as the food. The waiter had a weird affectation. He almost couldn't be bothered...."

A group of 8 of us had dinner at
Nessa before heading out to a concert at the Capital Theater ( an 8 minute walk). We had a reservation. We were seated promptly, the waiter asked if we were going to a show, so he could insure that we had enough time. The food was delicious, the service very attentive, and very nice ambiance. I would definitely go back."
Dined on 11/19/2013
We all enjoyed the food. Chicken
under brick was excellent. Salads and pastas very good. Lovely ambience but way too noisy."
Dined on 11/16/2013
Food was absolutely delicious and
the service was outstanding! I was a little nervous when we sat down about the noise level but after only a short while the place was packed and the noise level didn't really seem to increase! A friend and I sat for quite a while catching-up and we were not pestered by the wait-staff ... they came when necessary...I don't like to be pushed through my meals!! For only getting out once-in-a-while having two babies at home, this was the perfect balance of good food, friendly staff and fabulous atmosphere!"
Dined on 11/15/2013
We had a nice, tasty dinner before
catching a show at the Cap. On;y downer was the parking. We'll be back with quarters!"
Dined on 11/12/2013
The food was quite good;
everything else was a disappointment. Despite reserving far in advance, we were given a table right by the swinging kitchen door; I literally ducked every time it opened. Service was quite slow, despite our noting that we had concert tickets that night. The "half carafe" of wine was half the size it should have been; we barely got two decent glasses out of it. The we waiter told the next table, but not us, that there was a 15% off promotion for those going to the concert we had said we were attending. When we inquired, he returned with the "discounted" bill, noting that he "assisted" us by putting the tip on the bill. The tip was over 25% of the pre-discounted total (including tax and full bar bill) -- outrageous!"

Dined here a few times and I am
always impressed with my meal. Not the same old boring menu you find at most other Italian restaurants. I guess that's why it is always packed with people when I go there. Can't wait to go back!!! For a great meal order the bruschetta appetizer, roasted veggie salad n spinach gnocchi. I wish I only had left room for dessert."
Dined on 11/1/2013
Second time there and just as
pleaded.consistent and friendly service and great food"
Dined on 10/5/2013
After a few months of not dining
at Nesa we went back on a Saturday night ... Nesa has declined in service and its upsetting. We used to love going here and recommended it to many friends. Our server was horrible. Attitude, not attentive and I regret that we even left him 15% tip. He deserved nothing ... I felt bad for the busboy because he was the very attentive and if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have had bread or water ... Our waiter was so horrible we were never asked if we wanted another drink ... sad that they have waiters like this that can destroy a restaurants reputation."
Dined on 10/19/2013
I had been to Nessa once before
for brunch with a group and the food was great! My husband and i just went last weekend for a date night to celebrate our anniversary and we loved the food. We both got pasta dishes which we would recommend - which is saying alot because my husband is Italian and we don't often go out for Italian food because of it. I wish they had a slightly bigger menu, but everything was great. The nutella desert is wonderful!"

Haven't been to Nessa's for a
while but my friend wanted to go there for her birthday. It was a great experience from the moment we arrived and were greeted warmly by Peter who continued to join us throughout the evening. Our waiter Ricky was amazing-attuned to our every need, attentive to every detail (down to immediately offering club soda to my friend when he noticed she was trying to remove a food stain). Ricky was truly very professional.... he might have been one of the best servers I've experienced in a very long time! The food selection is fantastic, beautifully presented and everything was outstanding. They even provided my friend a birthday cake gratis...very classy - no silly singing-just a sparkler and some staff. Great place!"
Dined on 10/14/2013
I felt like I needed to apologize
after asking for anything like....bread, no potatoes but veggies instead, sauce on side, etc....Waiter was just annoyed at having to be there! It was a Monday night so no excuse for waiter not being attentive. The place was hardly bustling!"
