  • "As I was here I was thinking this is the target Houston's/Hillstone had in mind. It's semi casual-comfortable, there is an emphasis on comfort food, and the menu is varied enough to please anyone there. We really enjoyed the meatballs, and the halibut. The rock shrimp and the pheasant were both over-breaded for my taste. The french fries and brussel sprouts were OK, but not as good as you can get elsewhere. The waiter was knowledgeable but spoke at a 99 mph pace, so he was hard to follow. The place is very loud. We decided next time we will copy the two regulars that were sitting next to us - order a salad and steak. They both looked very nicely done."

  • "We had the noodle dish, veal schnitzel and daily special meatloaf - all executed impeccably and we ate every last bite. Good food doesn't have to be complicated or overly fancy. This is how food should always be, not overdone, just right!"

  • "Came here while in Dallas on business on the recommendation of a friend. Started with the deviled eggs which was the perfect small bite to enjoy with a pre-dinner cocktail. I'm from Boston and currently live in Seattle and am fairly particular about seafood. I usually shy away from ordering anything this far inland however here I enjoyed the most succulent, flavorful cut of swordfish I have ever eaten. It was simply, yet expertly prepared. My friend had the scallops and felt the same way. The roasted beet and carrot salad is a must try as well. Our server was knowledgeable and enthusiastic and the prices are quite reasonable. Imaginative menu, inviting atmosphere, outstanding service - this place is a gem."

  • "This was the 4th or 5th time we have gone to NS for dinner. Every other time we have been there the food has been excellent but this time was different. Had the scallops, chorizo and polenta dish. Scallops were over cooked and polenta was dry. SO had the swordfish special - also overcooked. Certainly not the caliber of food we have had in the past. Service was exemplary, as usual. We are going to write this one off to a bad/off night in the kitchen and will be back. Disappointing nonetheless. I hope the hype isn't getting to them."

  • "With a reservation on OpenTable for Tuesday evening we were seated immediately and our experience here remained on point from that time. Our server was knowledgeable on the dishes and current specials, which ALL sounded delicious. The halibut was cooked to perfection served with well flavored lemon-garlic spinach. Mac-n-cheese was both cheesy and creamy the way it should be. Drinks were mixed to perfection. Dessert I felt was a little unfinished with the pot of butterscotch. The server described it as the creamy part of creme brulee without the hard-sugar topping. I felt the dessert was too sweet and needed to balance it out with crushed vanilla wafers, pie crust, or nuts. Despite disappointment with dessert dinner was outstanding."

  • "My husband loves this restaurant so I chose to head back for my birthday meal. The food is always excellent, we had an overcooked steak which was corrected to the perfect doneness with no stress. It is a smaller restaurant so the tables are a bit closer together than in most, you can still enjoy your private time but be aware of the closeness factor. Delicious wine and the fried pineapple pie was killer. Highly recommend!"

  • "This restaurant is a wonderful secret! Once you open the "hidden" front door, you are in a hip, oasis off Lover's Lane. Great wine, lovely food and we loved the ambience. Seems like a restaurant you might find in Portland, LA, or Soho."

  • "Our driver drove past this restaurant three times before we spotted it so be careful when driving here. The bar was hopping as was the restaurant but the service was spot on and the food, although a bit salty was very good. We had excellent mussels, a cheeseburger and a steak frites. The drinks were great and we had an enjoyable evening."

  • "I have been here twice in the past month now, and all I can say is WOW! From the excellent Whiskey selections, to the short but excellent wine list, to the amazing food, this restaurant has lived up to it's billing. I cannot recommend the fish, Delmonico, London Broil, Hamburger, Oysters, Meatballs or Quail more. The only negative feedback I have is that they sat our party of 5 in a booth and they are a little cramped for 5 men. When we asked if we could be moved to a table we were told no both at the hostess stand and after we were seated. Apparently they had reasons, but there were empty tables and the customer is always right... well at least they used to be. The booths are not appropriate for more than 4. Other than that great!"

  • "My husband and I split the porterhouse steak and it was really good - nothing out of the ordinary with the exception of it having a slightly smoked flavor. The side dishes were pricey - we had a mac and jac - it was good but not extraordinary. For dessert we had a banana split and it was to die for. Our waiter was helpful and seemed knowledgeable and courteous."

  • "Celebrated Dad's Birthday. Aside from squeezing 6 people into a too small booth, our experience was enjoyed by all. The oysters were "best ever" . We ordered the Salmon, Cod, Redfish and Scallops. Cod was slightly underdone, sent back and returned quickly & perfectly done! All the other seafood dishes were excellent. We all agreed we can't wait to come back and repeat the order. We would request a table, as it was really difficult to have a conversation squeezed into that booth."

  • "Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was great and the perfect portion sizes. It is small and a bit hard to find at first; I'm not sure we would have found it if there hadn't been valet. The cozy "secretness" added to the charm. It is not a place for a large group. Not sure I would attempt bringing more than six. Definitely a place we will visit again."

  • "You know.....I am really thankful that I love the food so much that I am willing to deal with the AWFUL people working the hostess stand. The wait staff is amazing. The food is amazing. But, heaven forbid you show up 2 minutes late for your reservation. You will be punished and left sitting in the bar for up to 30 minutes even though they have no other guests to attend to and at least 1/2 the tables open. It shouldn't be like that unless it is peak time and loaded restaurant."

  • "Neighborhood Services has such a great reputation we were perhaps expecting too much. We were seated next to the bar and i sat on a highchair which is not the optimal dining experience. My wife was disappointed in the seating arrangements but did not want to go to another restaurant. The fried asparagus was excellent. We both had sole and it was very good but not any better than so many other baked sole dishes in town. My wife's dessert was outstanding. My desert resembled a hot lava cake but was not hot (it wasn't inteded to be) and not as good as what you can get at Chili's. When you take everything into consideration it was overpriced but we plan on giving it another chance and see if we don't have a better experience."

  • "I thought it was good/average food, I was certainly expecting great since it was rated #1 in D Magazine. Booth was a little snug for a couple of larger people in our party & not enough elbow room; asked if we could have a table instead and was told no by the waiter."No tables available, it is the day after Valentine's Day". I was impressed with the drink I ordered, something Sour kinda of like an Amaretto Sour without the Amaretto. Bravo to the bartender!!!"

  • "Went here for an earlier Valentine's day dinner with my boyfriend. The food was great - LOVED the fried asparagus and the scallop dish. The service was excellent. Our waiter took the time to described and gave great recommendations. Timing was good on each course until the dessert course. After waiting for what seems 20 mins, our waiter came by to let us know that something happened to the first dessert and the second was on it's way - on the house. Nice touch. Would definitely go back and recommend to others."

  • "This place is awesome. A great array of appetizers, main courses, and specials. Could almost be considered a steakhouse, but they offer way more then just steak and do everything very well. Would have to eat here a dozen times to try everything I wanted to. We got asparagus, meatballs, and the crab dip. The meatballs come in their "voodoo" sauce which is some sort of brown peppercorn type sauce and is truly outstanding. We then got the pork chop and delmonico. The pork was outstanding like everything else, paired perfectly with carmelized apples on top. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Make this a first stop in Dallas. Wish they moved to NYC."

  • "Had a group of 4 girls for my friend's 25th birthday, and it was perfect. We all eat Paleo, and could find tons of delicious Paleo-friendly meals - YAY!! That alone is a huge victory. Our server, Jason, was so friendly and fun. He really played up to our personalities which was smart on his part and made the evening even more fun. Birthday girl had the Sea Scallops and loved them. I had the Flat Iron & Fries (not called that, but I don't remember it's fancy name..). It was all OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD. We skipped on the dessert given the amount of cocktails we'd had (the Beauty School Drop Out is sneaky and delicious). All in all, a wonderful experience. I will be back for more special occasions."

  • "Have been here several times and the food and atmosphere never fail to please. I had one of the fish specials and it was wonderful. The fish was fresh and flakey - cooked perfectly - over delicious grits. One of my friends had the T-bone steak and smiled with every bite. And it was huge with plenty to take home to enjoy later. My other friend had the meatloaf over mashed potatoes - who uses aged beef in a meatloaf? Well apparently everyone should! We will be back because the food was wonderful and the service was excellent."

  • "After finally finding a reservation that morning we reserved a table for 10 p.m. The food, servers, bartenders, and hostesses were wonderful. The staff was very friendly and personable, yet very professional. After trying most of the hot spots in Dallas, this is by far the best restaurant I have ever been to. It's underfroundish, sheek, and well managed."

  • "With reservations had a long long wait. Could not fight through bar crowd to order drinks while waiting. Finally seated in the bar area which was offered as an alternative by very nice hostess. London Broil arrived in seconds it seemed; charred - as in burnt. Ruined the steak flavor. Beef Tartar lacked flavor - seemed un seasoned. So popular it seems that over crowding, noise and over tasked kitchen puts this on my " maybe later" list."

  • "The food is awesome. Can't go wrong with any choice. However, our waiter was less than helpful, arrogant and not at all personable. He looked annoyed when my family members asked for more explanation of the various specials. After taking our initial drink order of alcoholic beverages, he never asked us if we wanted another, although my glass was very empty after the appetizer, through the entree and dessert. I mean, it's to his benefit if we order more beverages, right? Higher bill = higher tips! I'm not sure what his problems was, but unfortunately it was noticed by everyone at our table. We love the food, and my husband and I enjoy dining here, but it will be quite a while before we bring guests again or recommend this place to others."
