A word from Negril Village
Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Negril Village promises to entertain your soul as well as your palette in a hip & classy environment. The latest installment in the Negril chain specializes in Nu Caribbean cuisine or what is dubbed “New York Savvy Caribbean cuisine”. The menu embraces the cooking styles and techniques of destinations such as Trinidad (i.e. Chicken Roti), Puerto Rico (i.e. Island Paella), and of course Jamaica (i.e. Jerk Chicken and Ackee). Set on two levels, the restaurants décor can be described as contemporary yet natural. The spacious dining room, on the upper level, boasts bamboo floors and seashell lined walls; while the Rhum lounge, on the lower level, warms you with its raisin interior, red lacquer floors, and in-house DJ. Live Reggae, Calypso, and Latin bands will further enchant you as you sip one of Negril Village’s many tropical drinks.Continued

  • "Negril Village is an amazing spot. I've never been disappointed with any of the food i've eaten. It's normally hard to find a good caribbean food spot that's not cheap and Americanized. This food is amazing, the atmosphere is grown it's just a little warm. Definitely recommend though!"

  • "I ordered the oxtail stew and it was just all fat. They clearly was too lazy to remove the fat from the oxtail. It was just disgusting to eat. My rice was dry and the collard did not taste well. For the money I paid I was highly disappointed."

  • "This was my second or third time eating at Negril and every time I go, I enjoy the food. The food is always fresh, hot, well seasoned and tasty. The portion size are just the right amount. The waiters/waitress provide very good service! I went for dinner this time and took my daughter. It was her first time there, and she really enjoyed the food as well. She said she would definitely go back again. They is always a lively crowd & the staff is friendly!"

  • "It is the only restaurant which makes a veggie tofu roti a mouth watering experience! I am vegetarian and go there for this. And the drinks really Match the Caribbean Islands I know."

  • "The food is absolutely amazing! I'm Jamaican, and no kidding, it felt and tasted like my mom's cooking! Only downside is on the weekend nights, it gets pretty crowded and noisy, hard to have a conversation. During the week nights though, prefect setting for nice conversation,a date."

  • "My family chose this restaurant for my brother's birthday. He loves Jamaican food, but is very discriminating in his dining choices. I'm happy to say that Negril Village met his standards, and ours as well. Our hostess texted me approximately 4 hours before our reservations to confirm. When we arrived I wasn't surprised to see more than 20 diners waiting for tables. I'm so glad we decided to reserve our table. After waiting for more than 15 minutes for our table, we were anxious to begin our dining experience. My brother chose steak, which he highly enjoyed, and I was pleased with the vegetarian choices available, namely the roti with vegetables, which was delicious! My only complaint was the noise level; we had to repeat ourselves often."

  • "I love this place, and have for years. The food is always amazing and the service is impeccable. Just to give an example of the service, my wife and I had a small mishap with one if our appetizers. We let the staff know and they immediately remedied the mishap above and beyond our expectations. I looked at my wife and said, "This is why Negril is my favorite spot in New York." That's why we made reservations for next week."

  • "The service was excellent. When we arrived we were seated right away at our reserved time. The service was timely and our attendant was pleasant. Our choice of food was very good and we especially liked the choice of sampler appetizer. I liked the preparation of the food, not too spicy I could enjoy the true flavor of the food. My overall experience was outstanding. "

  • "The food was amazing and very flavorful, especially the calypso shrimp with grits. We also got the chef's sampler and shamelessly finished all of the food between the two of us. The flavored coladas were great too. Our server was very prompt and replaced one of our side dishes when we noticed it came out partially cold. The one he brought back out was piping hot and excellent. Will return again for sure!"

  • "The food at Negril Village was excellent. We had the jerk wings that were so incredibly spicy, it could put hair on your chest. My wife had the house snapper fish which she enjoyed thoroughly. I had the escovitch snapper and I only wished I had the capacity to order a second, it was that good. The drinks were also very good. I had a Rum Punch, and my wife had a delicious coconut martini. All in all, I can't wait to go back again."

  • "My daughter's birthday so my haitian boss suggested i take her to this great restaurant. We were not able to get a table until 10:00pm it was our choice we got there and the place was like a bee hive but the staff remained calm and got us seated in less than five mins and the great thing is unlike other restaurants we did no have to wait forever for the food. My only disapointment is the amount of food. We are jamaican we are high energy people so we require food food food. I got one i mean one dumpling one banana and i thin slice of yam. I am satisfy with the quality but the quantity prevents me from giving a five star"

  • "I had gone to this restaurant with a group of friends and I had a good time, the food was delicious, and our server was AMAZING! I decided to take my mom and another family with us to Negril for mothers day. We had a two year old child and had to wait twenty minutes after being seated(had to remind the hostess to seat us).In addition, we ordered Pina Coladas, and our server came back and told us they ran out (this at about 9:30pm), told us he would bring us Daquiri's. We had to give back the Daquiri's because they were crushed ice, there was no alcohol or flavor (rum/guava). Then we ordered our dinner which was not even hot!!! And since it was mothers day, we wanted to get our mom's dessert. We wanted the cheese cake and they were out."

  • "Overall the experience was fine. It was a party of two, we were immediately seated upon arrival (highly recommend making reservation in advance). However, we waited for about 15-20 minutes before our waiter finally stopped by with a hello or glass of water. Other waiters passed by and did not stop to ask if we were being helped. We had to grab someone's attention and ask that a server be sent over. Seemed a bit manic, as the waiter informed us that he did not know he would be serving our table. Once we placed our orders, everything seemed to fall into place. Food was amazing, came out promptly. Would definitely recommend, just be prepared to possibly have to tackle a waiter for service. "

  • "Arrived at 6pm for 8pm reservation on a Tuesday night. The Hostess sat us immediately. Kudos for flexibility(we would have sat at the bar if we were unable to be seated). Lendell was our server and accomadated my request to ammend a dinner entree. Didnt like the automatic gratuity, but since Lendell was attentive and accomadating, I brought it to his attention and he changed the bill and I gave him a cash tip(for more than what was calculated on the bill) . Food is fantastic and the ambience is awesome."

  • "Party of six on a Tuesday evening. The food was cooked to perfection. Everyone enjoyed their food. They worked hard to accommodate us. The server was very attentive. The dj was on point. It was a little pricey however we drank a lot of shots."

  • "I have been here before for drinks and appetizers. However, I brought a friend who never ate island food. They were very pleased. I went on a Monday and that is a perfect day if you do not want to wait. Over all the food was good and service was good .No complaints from us."

  • "Negril Village offers a great ambience and the food is excellent, however, on this particular visit, our waiter completely screwed up the bill and charged the wrong amount on my credit card -- giving himself a tip amount that is DOUBLE the actual bill (like who in their right mind would do that??!). I would only recommend Negril Village in terms of food however this careless service has made it lose major points in my book and I am very skeptical now in recommending to others. My only suggestion is to pay in cash if you do decide to dine there. This was once one of my favorite restaurants but my views have changed because of this incident which I find totally unacceptable and I am still currently waiting on them to rectify. "

  • "The food here was absolutely delicious. The meat was fall off the bone tender and the side dishes were full of flavor. I had the brown stew chicken entree while my boyfriend had the plate of oxtails. For an appetizer we both enjoyed the "Ackee Tostadas" (I highly recommend it, yum) and there sweet cornbread. The service was warm, friendly and fast which was exactly what we needed to make it in time for our next destination. If I had one negetive thing to say about the restaurant is that they are way too pricey, and they add gratuity automatically to your bill, lets just say i wasnt expecting to see a 3 digit bill price for 2 people. Overall i recommend this restuarant, but be sure to save your pennies :)"

  • "This was my second time to NV and once again the atmosphere and food did not disappoint except I found the jerk chicken too hot. The drinks were too strong also. The music was so sweet we couldn't wait to go downstairs after to dance only to find out that after paying $140+ for dinner we would have to pay admission fee of $15 each so we went back to our hotel instead. I feel that customers that patronize the restaurant should be allowed the choice of going downstairs. I posted a pic of the restaurant I took on my Facebook page and quite a few people enquired about it. I'm from the island of Bermuda so it's just the type of place we like."
