A word from Negril Village
Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Negril Village promises to entertain your soul as well as your palette in a hip & classy environment. The latest installment in the Negril chain specializes in Nu Caribbean cuisine or what is dubbed “New York Savvy Caribbean cuisine”. The menu embraces the cooking styles and techniques of destinations such as Trinidad (i.e. Chicken Roti), Puerto Rico (i.e. Island Paella), and of course Jamaica (i.e. Jerk Chicken and Ackee). Set on two levels, the restaurants décor can be described as contemporary yet natural. The spacious dining room, on the upper level, boasts bamboo floors and seashell lined walls; while the Rhum lounge, on the lower level, warms you with its raisin interior, red lacquer floors, and in-house DJ. Live Reggae, Calypso, and Latin bands will further enchant you as you sip one of Negril Village’s many tropical drinks.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Negril Village is one of the few good options for Caribbean dining in NYC. The drinks are excellent and the atmosphere is fun."

  • "I love the food here and brunch was no exception. I had the oxtails (omg they are the BEST) and my cousin had the jerk steak (which he said he loved). The best part was the gentleman playing steel drums and *drumroll please* THE MIMOSAS. We had the mango (which was AWESOME) and the strawberry (it was good but not as good). Plus. After the second one, they kept them coming without having to ask. No complaints here. We left full and tipsy (which was our aim!)."

  • "It was my first time going to this restaurant but it was a great choice, the restaurant atmosphere was welcoming and fun, our waiter was attentive and personable, and the food, OMG, the food was amazing! Would definitely go again!"

  • "This place has been around for years & although the portion sizes have shrunk the food is still good the atmosphere is still pleasant & the wait staff are courteous & accommodating overall a pleasant dining experience. The music that is played downstairs for those who want to party does not affect the upstairs dining room which is great."

  • "If you are looking for a nice west indian food and theme restaurant in the city this is the way to go. Music is nice and the food is so tasteful i'd buy the chef out if i could afford to. Noise level is a bit on the loud side but that comes with the territory. we west indians aren't known to be quiet in social gatherings. Overall it was a great experience."

  • "The restaurant is definitely a gem, especially for Caribbean food aficionados! But the noise level? I could certainly do without it! Great ambiance, great service, great EVERYTHING. We go for a romantic night out, dinner with friends, or just happy hour or a Sunday brunch with the kids. I just wish the noise level was a little better..."

  • "My partner and I enjoyed the food for the most part but weren't giving any attention the waiter messed up my partners drink twice. We had to look for a waiter to take our order for entrées even then what my partner ordered wasn't what she thought it was. We didn't know yams and sweet potatoes were different. The food was good but the service was so impersonal. I expected alot more for what I paid for two people"

  • "This was my first visit and it was highly recommended by several colleague and friends.I was impressed with the ambiance, the view & comfortable setting and the arrangement of the tables both intimate & group setting. The menu was very diverse with many selection. Oxtail was divine, pork was well marinated & perfectly cooked, drinks has the right amount of liqueur. Vegetarians are welcome. Only draw back is the entrance and it was challenging to know where to enter as no one was at the door upon entering. Our Waiter Gabriel was Pleasant, friendly & very knowledgeable for a (Brazilian / Peruvian). I would highly recommended."

  • "I am very disappointed by Negril's new 2 hour dining policy and will not spend my money to benefit a restaurant that does not cater to its patrons. I made reservations for a friend's birthday. Prior to being seated I was told I had a 2 hour time limit to finish my meal. I was rushed through the entire evening which was made very uncomfortable by the wait staff and was even more disappointed with my interaction with the restaurant's manager who was very unapologetic and informed me that they had to follow the 2 hour guideline since they had other customers. the food is excellent but you're better off spending your money elsewhere where you can get a better dining experience."

  • "I love dining at Negril. The restaurant is always crowded but the food is worth waiting for. I just got there early than my reservation time and they found me a table right away. Great service and the waitress was the same who took care of us the last time we showed up. She remembered us and we were comfortable. The dining experience was nice. I will recommend it."

  • "My husband and I have been planing to go here for a while now we just never made I t! It was well worth the wait! We made reservations for 12 and I wasn't sure I would make it because I was exhausted! But as soon as I stepped into Negril the vibe was amazing I immediately woke up! The drinks are phenomenal OMG the food was great as well I just wished the portions were a little bit bigger but overall I was very satisfied!"

  • "My friends and I met at Negril's. The customer service was great, as we had a reservation, but one of our party members were late. They saved us a table while we waited for her at the bar. The food was delicious. I would definitely return."

  • "The food was fantastic! The Jamaican breakfast would be my brunch recommendation- tasty and filling. Now its clear they were slammed and not really prepared for the rush. Our server took a while to come to our table, but I didn't mind, because like I said they were slammed. What I didn't like however was the impersonal service. He basically breezed by, giving the thumbs up sign, which I suppose meant "is everything okay" At the end of it all, 17% gratuity was added and service left much to be desired."

  • "I love the food here I always get seafood roti now when i go! The only issue was the spacing. They put the tables so close together it can get packed and crowded fast."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The food was amazing and the ambience was great but the tables were very close together which made for uncomfortable conversation and awkward trips to the bathroom.Otherwise this restaurant was fantastic, try the Rum Painted Salmon!"

  • "My reservations were for ten pm, was not seated until 10:49pm! Had to stand and order drinks at the bar. When my table was finally ready they rushed as if we didn't have a bull to close out!"

  • "Great restaurant. It's in NY, but I live in Connecticut and I go every chance I get. Love the Rum Painted Jerked Salmon and Coconut Martinis. Always my favorite."

  • "this is my third time coming to this restaurant.I was excited because I know the atmosphere is great and the food is wonderful.. The major thing that disappointed me was the service, it was 6 p.m. Very few people in the place and it took so long for a server to take my tables order. Delete it was my mother's birthday so I wanted to impress her but she was not that impressed but yet she did enjoy herself. She said the food was good the drink was very strong but it was worth the money and the dessert was delicious."

  • "very un pleasant . The hostess was very rude I had a 4 pm reservation which the online system selected. To my suprise I was told I would have to wait for a half hour to be seated because the kitchen was still serving lunch. There was multiple tables open but none of my guest could be seated. After asking another member from the staff that was also rude . We were told "Whats the point of sitting if you can't order. There's really no point okay so you can wait here up front". Another gentleman came over at this point possibly the manager whom never identified himself and took myself and my guest to a table. The waiter was was pleasant enough. The waiter was nice. Not sure I would ever return to this establishment."

  • "Was not sure what to expect when we (my husband and I had date night) got there, but we really enjoyed the food. The food was outstanding. The place is alittle cramped but the atmosphere was energetic. I would definetly go back there."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "My first time there, definitely not what I expected server wasn't the greatest, had us waiting for a while. The food was ok not what I expected. At the end server have us the wrong bill. They should def have a bathroom on the dining level. Having to go all the way down to the lounge for the bathroom is ridiculous. The music coming from the dining area sounded like a little radio being played, sound system sucked. Desert platter was mediocore. Drinks not the greatest at all."
    Dined on 2/7/2014
  • "The food was very tasty but they ran out of a lot of menu items during dinner service. If you are looking for a quiet dinner, then this place during the weekend isn't for you. There is a "lounge" downstairs that can get very noisy. Also, I find it odd that diners in the restaurant have to travel to the back of the downstairs lounge to use the restroom. I recommend the oxtails and rice, very authentic. I also had the shrimp and grits, wasn't a big fan of it. I highly recommend the cod fritter appetizer and the guava BBQ wings. Quick and friendly service."

  • "Great West Indian cuisine however the service was not the greatest. We did feel rushed and at times a little disrespected. They also ran out of a lot of food early. The lounge area was not as energetic as I thought it would be."
