We definitely recommend the hush puppies. The pepper jelly is the perfect compliment (not spicy...more sweet with light kick). Everything was very good. Only complaint is that the salmon wasn't served on actual cedar plank (like in many other restaurants for added flavor), which to me wasn't very flavorful. We enjoyed various dishes (including the ribs). The "three little pigs" were great - and the blackberry cobbler is the best cobbler I have had next to my mother's recipe. Our waiter was extremely honest with his recommendations of dishes and drinks- which was much appreciated. Thanks!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthern BBQ in ManhattanWe were looking for real southern bbq and finally found it at Neely's. The Kansas City dry rub ribs were tender and flavorful. The pulled pork was moist and served with just a touch of sauce, allowing you to add your own from the bottles of house blend sauces on the table. I would have liked a side of corn bread served with the meals and larger glasses of iced tea would mean less requests for refills. Prices were reasonable. Interesting selection of cocktails..spicy sangria was awesome. We had wings and hush puppies for starters...deelish! 3 of us had various style ribs and one in my party said she had the best hamburger ever! Leave room for the Mississippi Mud Cake!!

These are the best I've had so far in NYC (sorry, Hill Country). I prefer the wet KC style and they did it right with the tender meat falling off the bone. The mac n' cheese was tasty, too. My friend got the Fried Chicken and Waffles (avail only for brunch I think) which she really enjoyed. I sampled the Fried Chicken and it was moist/juicy (I normally don't like white meat so that says a lot). I'll probably get this the next time I go. Try the Red Velvet Mimosa and if you want some dessert, the NY Cheescake and Red Velvet Cake were good. We were celebrating one of the girls birthday. Everyone fell head over heels for the candied bacon and the drinks. then when the food came, ohh boy. Everyone ordered something different and they spent the night tasting each others dish. The food was out of this world. The food is absolutely yummy - everything we have tried has been delicious each and every time! As well as the professional and friendly waitstaff and management who always make you feel right at home.The spicy sangria is the best and so is the way the drinks are served - in mason jars! I have brought family and friends and it has always been a hit! The dry ribs are perfect as well as all the sauces, and the desserts are scrumptious. I would love to meet The Neeley's in person and even take a cooking course from them! i am so impressed by how they have trained their staff, and the quality of their food, even though they cannot be on site in NYC, Can't wait to return again soon!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Restaurant!!!!!!!!My friends dined at this restaurant to celebrate one of my girlfriend's birthday. eggs tasted like the inside of a refrigerator. My daughter's Shrimp over grits was a soupy mess. The flavor was good however the presentation was not appetizing. Perhaps it could be served on a sectioned plate? The worst part of my evening was walking down to the basement level in order to use the rest room. OMG,I wasn't sure if the steps would kill me before the cigar smoke from the sports bar below Neelys.
On the positive side, our waiter Maurice was very efficient and professional. Upon entering, we were greeted by both a host and hostess. The host went outside to get us a highchair and the hostess carried my baby bag upstairs.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
