Diner Reviews
  • "The cook may be the only one on top of his game at the restaurant. Showed up on a Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. There were only 7 tables sat when we arrived but it seemed the wait staff couldn't handle even those. We waited over 10 minutes to be approached and there after everything took forever. Once the food arrived we had no silverware and we had to scrounge for our own, as no staff appeared for over 5 minutes. The food was superb though. Mac n Cheese was phenomenal and the ribs fell right off the bone. I'd recommend ordering out rather than dining in there."

  • "Need I say more? Actually, all of the appetizers were really good. I ate too much to have room for my meal. The entrée I ordered was the country fried steak. It was very good including the sides of green beans and mashed potatoes. I'm not a gravy man but it was served with a light gravy that I was told was also very good. Excellent meal for a late night dinner!"

  • "Dined here to celebrate my wifes birthday, made reservations on line and indicated that this was a special occasion, but no one asked if I had a special request even after mentioning that I had a reservations. My appetizer came with scallions as a garnish that were wilted still had the roots attached as if they just yanked them out of the ground. VERY SAD server kept us waiting for just about everything, towelettes and napkins, I thought this was standard when you order ribs. Had to get another server to bring me the bill. I tipped this guy simply because it was the right thing to do not because he worked for it or deserved it. Had it not been my wifes birthday, different story. I can go on but I see that there is a limit on space to write"

  • "We came to Neely's to celebrate my husbands birthday. The room that was set for 8 was beautiful, the privacy curtain made the night that much more fun. We felt like we were the only people in the restaurant. I would recommend this place to anyone, it was great. Our waiter needed a little more experience but other than that it was a great night out."

  • "Food was awful. Nothing like what one would imagine it would be like while watching the couple on their television show."

  • "Has gotten a lot better since I was there last a year ago. The service is more on point and the food is also a little better..."

  • "When Groupon offered this as a place as part of the Reserve program, we jumped at the chance to go and we were not disappointed. The service was great and so was the food. The portions were way too much to finish. The unlimited sangria plus the extensive bar were such a good time."

  • "I went here for dinner with my husband and another couple. It was the second time that I had gone to Neely's BBQ Parlor. The food was tasty, and the ambiance is great, but there was nothing about the food that was served, that warranted the cost of the meal. It's barbecue at the end of the day, and that's just it."

  • "The BBQ is nothing to write home about, but their sweet potatoes with pecan butter and the mac and cheese are very good. The drinks are amazing and strong. Good happy hour prices. The staff is friendly and attentive. The ambiance is really nice, especially at night. I also love that they play 70s-90s R&B."

  • "The service was great and the food was fabulous. This was our first time at Neeleys but won't be our last. The brisket and baby back ribs were amazing and the sides were all great but the best mac and cheese I've ever had. It was worth the calories. A great neighborhood find!"

  • "The food are prepare very well, you can see that they put a lot of time into making each dish. The ribs are delicious and very tender. It comes right off the bones."

  • "My husband and I, went for dinner. The food was really flavorful and well presented. Nice drink menu and bar. However, the tables were close together and noise level loud with forgetful wait staff. We would eat there again, but sit at bar were there is more room."

  • "Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes, jumbo shrimp with Grits, deviled eggs with spicy bacon, pulled pork, ribs, mac & cheese and red velvet cake. Afterwards, go downstairs to the cigar lounge for an after-dinner apperitif and a cigar. Speakeasy style. Really enjoyed Neely's restaurant. Came here for a Christmas office party and returned back with my husband."

  • "We were a group of 6- and seated at a large round table. Service was attentive and quick.Abundant servings of smoked, delicious meat. A bit artery clogging- but you know that going in. Side dishes are tasty too. Entrees are large enough for sharing or doggie bagging."

  • "We had a great dinner with our three children, ages 2, 5 and 7. The menu offerings please adults and kids. The staff was so nice to us. They greeted us at the door and took our carriage. High chairs were readily available. Our waiter was fantastic - he had selection ideas, spoke directly with the kids and was very attentive."

  • "Best of the South on the Upper East Side. From pulled pork and ribs to collard greens and mac and cheese, if you're a fan of down home cookin' you'll love Neeley's. The corn bread is terrific and, from the bar, try a Tupelo Sour. Elvis would have loved it! And if you're into cigars, there's an excellent cigar bar downstairs."

  • "Pretty good ribs and sides. Fried green tomatoes and catfish were excellent. The candied bacon and devil eggs would be excellent if only the bacon was served hot."

  • "Food and atmosphere is awesome. This was my 4th visit and as always it was a pleasant visit. This restaurant is definitely the place to be on a birthday celebration or romantic date."

  • "The food is consistently good every time I'm here. Go on Monday's if you want the Fried Chicken with waffles, otherwise you're out of luck. I opted for the KC Style Ribs again and tried a couple different sides. Ribs were cooked perfectly, tender but the meat didn't fall off the bone until I wanted it to. Contrary to popular belief, the meat should not just fall off when you touch it--if that happens it is improperly cooked. The Cole Slaw is the best I've ever had. Too many times this side can be overdone or made with god knows what but this was simple and good. I hate Collard Greens but even those tasted fine to me. Next time I will try the Memphis style Ribs as I noticed a "wet" option...I thought it was only available dry."

  • "Mu husband really like Neely's. We've gotten in the habit of going there on holidays or days special to us. We like the food. Tasty but unpretentious. The atmosphere is great. Even though we don't have kids we like that it's fily friendly. We often see multiple generations eating together. It's designed so there are small rooms for groups, too. We've recommended it to several friends and colleagues."

  • "went to Neely's for the second time after seeing a broadway show - was seated right away - service was great. the only issue we had was we ordered a few appatizers and they came out with the food. the server apologized and did not rush us but would have liked a little while to enjoy the apps and then have dinner. tables were cleared right away and we didn't have to ask to have our water glasses filled. overall, great dinner - can't wait to go back"

  • "Been watching the show forever. The restaurant lived up to my expectations. I have to go back for dessert though, had no space left after dinner. Cocktails were also amazing! Had the Spicy Passion it was delicious. Will definitely be back. Also want to mention that the service was excellent."

  • "Pretty much everything about the place was on point. The staff was very helpful and courteous, the food came promptly. We never felt rushed or abandoned, as there waiter checked in at regular intervals. As for the food, it was funny to come from Georgia to NYC to get some very tasty BBQ. Neely's goes on the list for repeat visits."

  • "The food took about 40 mins to come out. My Mac and cheese was cold, my mothers country fried steak meal had no flavor. My fathers catfish didn't even taste like fish. The manager took off the country fried steak but we wish it was just a good meal."

  • "We came here for Christmas 2013. We were seated promptly. However, it was 15 min before our waiter came to greet us. Thank God we were wise enough to give him our complete dinner order when he came over. The appetizers & main entrees were fantastic. The desserts we ordered were terrible! The red velvet cake tasted very old, and smelled like something different than what it was. The peach cobbler was such a let down. The service is extremely slow. I would go back only if I had a ton of time on my hands and sit at the bar. Order the ribs and a lemonade passion fruit."

  • "My mother and I have been long time fans of these food network stars. We marveled at the chance to dine here for an unconventional holiday dinner. Although crowded, there was no wait. The food was excellent and i highly recommend the sangria!"

  • "This is the right place for a quiet evening gathering right during the hustle and bustle of The holidays. While I wished the kitchen was open a little later that's just me being selfish and forgetting that the staff have lives too! The food is wonderful, and hopefully they will bring back the black eyed peas for pre NewYear and the potato salad. The wait staff is attentive and pleasant and it's just a wonderful southern gem of New York."

  • "First Christmas in Ny was going to the Knicks game. Found Neely's on open table and it was great. Seated promptly, wait staff was very good and attentive. The Brisket was hot and tender. Dady's Day Off for mom was excellent! The mashed potatoes were very good. Peach cobbler was tastey. I even purchased tShirts and sauces to bring home."
