Nectar - PhiladelphiaSpecial Occasion SpecialNectar is a beautiful, exciting space, serving interesting food to a sophisticated crowd. We were there for mothers day, so it was packed. The beautiful glass and stone open interior seemed to concentrate all the conversations, making for a fairly noisey environment. Service from our waiter was very good, although our food seemed to take much longer to arrive than nearby other tables which had been seated after ours. Food was vividly flavored, and the menu made much of the fact that most of it is locally sourced.

I got the scallops with risotto and he got the shrimp and beef dish. We also ordered the calamari and the wild boar noodles to share. Everything was fantastic! Also, when completing my reservation I mentioned it was his birthday. The waiter brought out a delicious chocolate desert with a candle for him at the end of the night. I thought that was really great as I have not always had waiters follow birthday requests at other restaurants. Our server Amine was down to earth, friendly, efficient and made some excellent drink, appetizer and entree recommendations. Everything was prepared to perfection with lots of flavor and unique presentations. We left with a doggie bag and our leftovers the next evening were as delicious as the night before. It was a special occasion for the restaurant with its Chester County Wine dinners. Thus, it was quite noisy - too much to be able to easily hear my dining partner. We tried their fried rice, foie gras, oysters, and ribeye and every dish was memorable. The sushi/sashimi platter was also very fresh. Nice wine list. Cute desserts (mini donuts with 3 dips, sesame and hazelnut cakes) made a nice finishing touch. Great modern decor and service was fine. We decided to take friends as our last experience was excellent. This visit did not disappoint! Everyone loved their appetizers and entrees! There was nothing left on the plate. Service was very good and the atmosphere was happy and upbeat. Our only negative was a rather large party of 10 or so that arrived towards the end of our meal. The food is always excellent and the service is always great. It is constantly busy and jam packed. Even though it is busy, the service never seemed to lack. The other night we stopped in and sat upstairs. Our waiter came by the table a few times for our drink and food order. After that he was a ghost. The one man who was there cleaning up the tables was great and very attentive but our waiter left us and never came back upstairs for about 30-40 minutes. Our food was extremely late but it was busy so I don't mind waiting. The service from our waiter was terrible.
