We have been to Navio a few times and have enjoyed each time. This visit was the best yet. We got a window table so we could look at the ocean and the beautiful grounds of the Ritz Carlton. The food was excellent. The scallops were the first in a long time that were not gritty. They were sweet and succulent. Hubby had the short ribs and they just fell apart with tenderness. We shared a lava cake (which isn't on the restaurant menu) but the waiter offered it. He could size up some chocolate lovers ! We really liked Navio's focus on local ingredients and were a bit concerned that they might be needlessly tinkering. To our delight, Navio's ocean cuisine menu continues to showcase the best of what is locally available but in new creative ways where seafood indeed takes center stage. The menu and wine list have been designed so you can create a wonderful assortment of small plates or enjoy a more traditional 2, 3 or 4 course meal. Navio also offers a tasting menu (w/ or w/o wine pairings) Alas, the prices are still quite high. Paul will treat you well.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchI have been to numerous Sunday Brunches including the Del Coronado and this brunch was hands down the best ever. The food was incredible in variety, presentation and taste. The service was fantastic and I never felt like they were trying to turn the table. When we went to get more food our napkin was folded and we had clean silverware. The view from Navio is a perfect view of the 18th fairway and the rugged Northern California coast line with waves crashing over rocks. It was an outstanding dinner with impeccable service. We wouldn't expect anything less from the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay! We had a full meal - two appetizers, two entrees and two desserts. Both the appetizers (beet cured salmon, green garlic soup) and entrees (halibut, rib eye) were excellent, easily surpassing our expectations. The desserts were both good, but could potentially stand to be a quarter smaller.
