Diner Reviews
  • "Always a perfect meal at the Nautilus. We highly recommend it."

  • "The food was good. They do not give you anything with your main course. At least a salad or vegetable would be nice. Pricey entrees with nothing extra. You get more at a diner."

  • "The Nautilus Cafe always offers very good food. The service is professional and reservations are honored. They never disappoint. We recommend it."

  • "We have been coming here for years. I have never written a review on Open Table, but felt Nautilus Cafe deserved one. The restaurant has a "Nautical" theme, but also has the best steak around. We have never been disappointed with any of their dishes. Brian, the owner/chef, who is always behind the scenes, cooking, knows his customers, and ALWAYS accommodates any special requests or needs. The staff goes above and beyond as well. The best dining experience around, by far."

  • "Prime rib is outstanding every night. Monday night, 2 lb lobster @ $33. Can't beat it!"
    Dined on 3/31/2014
  • "We were there for the Monday lobster special . One of us had it steamed the other broiled. In both cases the lobster was moist and tender. My other favorite dish is the scallops and they are always well prepared. This restaurant has never disappointed us."

  • "Wed nights are steak night. Great deal and great steak. French onion soup was also delicious!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary and we just loved the restaurant. The staff was great and the food even better. Its small but cozy and energetic makes it a great place to enjoy a really good meal near the water."

  • "Everything was very good from begining to end. We came from the north shore and it was worth the trip.Highly recomend, be sure to make reservations, place gets real busy after 6."

  • "We went to save money on the Monday Lobster Fest - two 2 lb lobsters for the price of one. What we saved on the lobster we spent on 2 glasses of wine wine and two sides. I ordered my lobster broiled and my wife ordered hers steamed. I thought mine was just ok. Some of the meat wasn't cooked completely. My wife thought her lobster was very good. If we go back I will order my lobster steamed and we will skip the wine and only order one side."

  • "This place has been around forever, but the dining room and bar glisten like brand new, with lots of wood, nautical accents, tablecloths and linen napkins. Service is attentive and professional. The food is straight up steak and fish house perfection. Best shelll steak I have had in all of NYC."

  • "One of the top restaurants on the South Shore of LI. Everyone thinks seafood(the Swordfish was outstanding) when dinning near the water but their prime rib could be the best ever."

  • "impeccable service and delicious food, what more can you ask for in a restaurant?"

  • "we have eaten here many times and the food and wait staff is always consistent-we were there for the early bird special and you can't beat that deal anywhere. They are so accommodating if you have special needs in preparing the food, always a good meal for the price"

  • "The dining room is very relaxing, Have had a few different dishes ,all very, very good. The Prime Rib is a total winner. Sides are very good too. The wait staff very friendly & know there stuff. We love to go with a few couples where everyone can choose whatever there taste. All in all a good choice for dinner."

  • "The Nautilus is a local gem. They were the first restaurant to open after Hurricane Sandy and was such a welcome relief after all we were going through with our own homes. The food is great, the drinks as well and it is anything but small and stuffy! You can really enjoy your conversations without worry of having to whisper like at some places."
    Dined on 12/16/2013
  • "Service was great, very attentive wait staff. The food was delicious. Would have liked to have a potato or vegetable come with the main course. Think $6.75 for a potato is quite expensive. Spacing of the tables is bad. I had to get up 2 times during my meal to let other diners out of the restaurant."

  • "For years we have enjoyed Cafe Nautilus but Friday night our experience was miserable. The server dumped an entire tray of drinks on our table and we waited forever for our food… Service was appalling.. and the restaurant was empty! What happened to one of our favorite places?"

  • "Went for a special birthday dinner with my Mom & Sister. Early bird special til 6:30 is a deal. Everything was great. Valet parking, seated at a nice table, service was friendly & on point. Food was delicious & generous. Will be back."

  • "Regular customer here for more years than I remember. The fish is fresh (I had the branzini), well seasoned, tasty, yummy. Portion sizes are just the right size. No one ever feels rushed. Dishes are not taken off the table if someone else is still eating. Service is friendly and warm. In the summer, the view here is spectacular as it's in the harbor. Small and intimate. Reservations a must and they accomodate you and don't keep you waiting. Service people remember you and special orders are not a problem. One of the best seafood restaurants on Long Island."

  • "Never a disappointment. The prime rib as well as the fish was tasty soft and priced well. DONT CHANGE A THING."

  • "The food was okay, I was expecting more. I had stuffed shrimp, it was alright, my friend had the fish , that was ok. I was disappointed."

  • "a restaurant with exceptional value is not easy to find, the Nautilus is just such a place! Wednesday night Prime Rib night is not only the best value around, it is also the best tasting at any price. To top it off they offer a FREE grey goose martini. Try finding that deal any where else. It just doesn't exist !!!"

  • "We return here often. We love everything about it. Everything is beautifully prepared. The owner / chef has been cooking up delicious fish for 20 years. They have a special steak night during the week, which is wonderful. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Our Prime Ribs of Beef (we both ordered the same) were cooked perfectly, served promptly and were delicious. We highly recommend the Wednesday Night "Steak Night". It's a best bet in Nassau County each week!"

  • "The food and service is always the same consistently excellent."
    Dined on 10/23/2013
  • "Nautilus's prime rib (bone-in) is consistently the best and most generous anywhere. Two factors can spoil a carnivore's pleasure: first, the room is filled with too many tables and chairs which intrude on one another, with waiters continually bumping patrons because they can't comfortably negotiate their passage; and, second, the noise level destroys the possibility of a relaxed dinner. When the owner renovated the place after the Sandy storm, he could have installed acoustic damping materials but he didn't."

  • "Glad we gave this another chance. Last experience had us doubting we might be back. The food was great but the service was lousy. This trip was a wonderful experience. Ramon, our waiter, was attentive and pleasant. The food was delicious and as always plentiful."
    Dined on 10/17/2013
  • "$65 for the '2 for 1' lobster special wasn't that special. It seemed pricey even for a 2lb. Lobster, especially with no sides."
    Dined on 10/14/2013
  • "Dinner was very good as usual. We really enjoyed seeing Carlos, the service he provides is impeccable. He and the staff remembered us from a few years ago when we use to attend regularly. We decided to spend our first night out with out the kids in 7 years here- that should say enough. Can't wait to return hopefully we will not have to wait that long again."
