Naschmarkt RestaurantGreat Austrian foodMy wife and I usually go to the Austrian Resturant in Boulder Creek, but this was Superior.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server (from Argentina)Our server (from Argentina) was very engaging! His service was attentive, lively, and we appreciated his love for fine food and wine as well. We had the Quark Spaetzle appetizer and Yagerschnitzel entree with the rubarb sturdel for dessert. All our dishes were excellent - very flavorful and seasoned to perfection. Fine Dining Experience!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAustrian Excellence in CampbellThis restaurant is among the best of any type at which we have ever eaten, and is certainly in the top tier of California restaurants irrespective of where they are located. The service, to start with, is really professional and impeccable--the entire staff, apparently, has been with the restaurant since it opened, and their team commitment to excellent service really isn't matched anywhere else, at least in California. The menu features Austrian dishes with due attention to the influence of the Austro-Hungarian dynasty. In our case, we started with the superb mushroom strudel, then a cauliflower soup with salmon roe that really was incredible, with following main courses of the jagerschnitzel and Hungarian goulash, also superb. Excellent!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this placeHaving been here a few times know I have to say that everyone who is working at Naschmarkt wants to make your day a special one.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy, fun restaurant for foodiesThe Jäger Schnitzel amazing; Wiener Schnitzel with lingonberry sauce divine; Hungarian Beef Goulash hearty and delicious. But, the sautéed Salmon was just ok.. and a really small 2x2 piece of fish... so small that diner made popcorn when he got home. We should have ordered another bowl of the yummy sautéed vegetables. Would I recommend Naschmarket? YES.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Evening with good foodIf you're looking for a quiet, romantic spot, this is not it. However, if you love good food served by knowledgeable waitstaff in a lively environment, this is a good choice. I don't normally go looking for Austrian food, but this was a great place to try some dishes that you won't find elsewhere.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Fantastic!Highly recommended, always fantastic. This visit, refreshed wine list, couple of new or refreshed entrees. Starter of Mushroom Struedel on a bed of greens, is inspired, excellent twist on a classic, turned savory. The New York Strip, was a great surprise. Not just a steak for those that don't want the Austrian cuisine, this steak was excellently flavored, grilled to perfection. Very, very nice. Rhubarb Struedel for desert was delicious, only nit to pick is that the rhubarb was just a little too crisp. Overall and excellent restaurant with excellent staff, service, food, wine.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Neighborhood RestaurantMy wife and I dropped in here about a month ago and were lucky enough to find two seats at the bar. This place is amazing. We have been back four times since, twice just the two of us and once each with my parents and another couple. Each time was fantastic. Once we sat outside, which was a little quieter than inside. The other three times we sat at the bar, where John, the bartender, is a force of nature: friendly, fast, and talented. For appetizers, the mussels, scallops, and spaetzle are all deliciious. For main courses, we have tended to go with fish dishes, which are great, but I also had the chicken one night (I never order chicken in a restaurant, but John said to give it a shot, so I did, and was very happy). Give this place a try.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience!Food was very good, We were very impressed how good was done, just the way it like it was done when we were in Deutschland. They should improve service, in my opinion they should be more decent, human ;-) Overall Very good restaurant !5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Regional FoodIf you are looking for authentic Austrian fare, than this is the restaurant for you. Those who ordered that route had a wonder dish presented to them. Not into schnitzel? No problem. You will find other items like fresh fish on the menu. I made a lovely light dinner from the scallop appetizer and and beet salad. I wish my salad was a bit larger, but if I was having it before a main course dinner, I probably would have felt the size to be adequate.
The place is small with table close together. We were there on the Thursday and it wasn't fully booked, but there were enough people there to tell me it would not be deafening loud if fully booked.
Our server was prompt and knowledgable and our food cam out quickly.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat MealWe had a great meal at the Naschmarkt! The service was outstanding and all of the dishes were fantastic. I had the pork belly, a recommendation from the waiter, and he was right that it was great. I can't say enough about the food. They also have a nice selection of beer from Germany and Austria.
My in-laws had lived in Germany for several years and they said the food was better. Their on-line reputation is well deserved.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMy sister always loves toMy sister always loves to try out new restaurants when she is visits from out of town. However now she wants to always come to Naschmarket Restaurant. Of course, I never mind as this is one of our monthly restaurants to visit.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!LOVE this place. Food is always top notch. Most restaurants, I find something I like and always want to order the same thing, however, at Naschmarkt, the food is so incredible that I am always ordering something new. There are a few keepers on the menu, but you can also find new gems as the menu is seasonal. The soups are out of this world, silky, flavorful, and unique. Portions are great too! Service is friendly and professional. Food comes out at a nice pace. These guys have it down!! And, you just can't beat the value.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNaschmarktNaschmarkt is a wonderful change of pace in the South Bay. We've been there 3-4 times and each time we come away committed to coming back again. This is a great spot with a tremendous menu, service and ambiance.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen we got there while waitingWhen we got there while waiting our orders we could see the kitchen and everyone looks busy, we had a great time with my friend and we enjoyed the food we ordered, definitely I will return to this restaurant.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNever fails to be a very niceNever fails to be a very nice experience... The owner is gracious, the food is excellent and attractive. There is a good reason why this restaurant is always busy. Be sure to have a reservation. We loved the stuffed cabbage and the wiener schnitzel.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in San JoseAlways the best in San Jose. Top-Notch Service, food, ambiance. Great cocktail menu, excellent wines. Menu constantly evolving (rather than changing), so don't miss the classics (Smoked Chicken with Quark Spätzle or the Austrian Cold Cuts) or the new favorites (Jäger Schnitzel or the ever-changing pasta). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNaschmarkt is UNBELIEVABLE!!!Naschmarkt is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Not enough words to describe our experience. From the great and knowledgeable service to the food. OH The food!!! Can't wait to get back here and try something else from the menu. Here's a tip: When in doubt go with the Pork Belly. CRACKTASTIC is a word that describes the food.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNot many Austrian places aroundNot many Austrian places around so this find is a good one. I will go back. Had SALZBURGER NOCKERL 9 soufflé for dessert and it was yummy.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVED it. Only complaintLOVED it. Only complaint is that there was a bit too much time between courses.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a gem in the CampbellThis is a gem in the Campbell neighborhood. The food is an amazing treat. We had reservations at 6pm and the restaurant was full. Give yourself a treat and experience this unique spot. It will transport you to Europe.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic, Friendly and TastyThe welcome and departure to Naschmarkt is always unique. The host always makes you feel welcome and quickly gets you seated. Service is attentive and polite. A proactive service approach, knowing what we need. We ordered the Petrole Sole and Grilled Salmon which were prepared to bring out the flavors and texture of the fresh fish. The Butter Lettuce Salad is delicately presented and the sesame seed oil dressing is scrumptious. The Apple Strudel for dessert was warm and perfectly presented, and it reminded me of the small German restaurant I visited as a child in Michigan. I highly recommend trying some of the European wines. Has a small outside area that feels cozy. It is worth the visit!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit. This was our first visit. It is a smaller restaurant that is always crowded. We really enjoyed the excellent Austrian food. The server was very helpful with items on the menu. We enjoyed the jaeger and wiener schnitzel. The food was flavorful without being salty. We had a recommended vanilla brulee that was excellent. We plan to go back and try the other items on the menu.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNaschmarkt - One of the bestFirst time. Very impressed. Excellent food. Great presentation. Outstanding service.
Naschmarkt can compete with some of the best restaurants in the Valley.
Definitely going back.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food and good valueMet and exceeded our expectations.
Interesting beers and selection of Austrian wines. Server knew a lot of detail about the food preparation and was helpful in choosing drink options.
Appetizer cold cut sampler was excellent, liver pâté was fabulous. Our entrees were great as well, chicken and salmon were perfectly cooked, juicy and flavorful. Bread pudding dessert also delivered, "Einspänner" (double espresso with big dollop of whipped cream) we ordered off the menu reminded us of late night Vienna coffee shops.
Will be back.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Nice folks. GoodGreat food. Nice folks. Good ambiance. Menu is a nice change up. German and Viennese dishes, but lighter than you would expect. Good wines. Definitely two thumbs up. Great find in Downtown Campbell.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMTouch of Vienna in CampbellThe restaurant has a small vibe, is very welcoming and comfortable. We started with Manhattans blended with Bulleit Bourbon served very cold and were well made. One of our main courses of course was the Classic Wiener Schnitzel (Veal schnitzel) with lingonberry sauce, Austrian potato salad, lemon and crispy parsley and the Hungarian Beef Goulash braised in paprika with herbed spätzle, roasted Hungarian pepper and sour cream. All entrees arrived piping hot and all were very delicious. The wait staff was very seasoned and engaging. We will be going back soon and would highly recommend Naschmarket in Campbell.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMBe sure to enjoy a glass ofBe sure to enjoy a glass of wine with some if the heavier meat dishes. And save room for the amazing desserts!!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, the food is superbAs always, the food is superb and the service equal. As long as you go knowing that conversing is a little tough due to all the noise, you will have a wonderful time.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service was fantastic.Food and service was fantastic. This was for a birthday. Red roses were on the table just as I requested. Food was very flavorful. Every taste delighted my lady and she was so pressed with the evening.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen wanting to come hereBeen wanting to come here for a while. Was not disappointed at all. Too many fun things to try, so just went with appetizers and dessert...my favorite combination. We brought our own bottle of wine, but did get a couple glasses from their wine list, which was also very good. All staff very friendly and gave great suggestions.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and smiles fromGreat service and smiles from the entire staff throughout which made us feel as we were invited guests to their home. Everything was executed to the tee starting with an expansive overview and recommendations from the menu to remembering the thoughtful touch of bringing out my wife's dessert with a birthday candle along with an extra dessert on the house! It was her first time and my second but definitely won't be our last.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a nice experience andAlways a nice experience and someplace where you can always count on the food to be excellent.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent place to sampleExcellent place to sample less well known Central European cuisine on par with high-end French & Italian restaurants in the Bay Area. Definitely try the Double-cooked Pork Belly, and the Blueberry soufflé!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Dining in San JoseAs usual, perfect ambiance, service, food, wine, everything. Can't go wrong at Naschmarkt. Every time we go, we leave very pleased with the experience. Highly recommended.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time hereThis was our second time here and we had a great time.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis will go into our rotationThis will go into our rotation for Date Night. The place is small and intimate, not too loud, just right. We sat on the enclosed porch, to watch the view of the street, but the bar overlooks the kitchen if you want to watch that action. The night was warm enough, but our waiter offered to turn the heaters on if needed. The Quark Spatzle with smoked chicken and corn was a smooth and earthy flavor -just right for sharing. The Goat Cheese Purse salad is better as a single item and I would try a different salad next time. I had the Atlantic Cod fish,it was perfectly cooked, very moist and flaky, a very good dish. We skipped dessert and took a walk through downtown Campbell for a lovely evening.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything we had tried wasEverything we had tried was delicious (from the cocktails to the desserts). We'll definitely be back.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNaschmarkt is an excellent choice.Naschmarkt is an excellent restaurant. One of the best in Silicon Valley. It is defined as new Austrian and that is very accurate. I have spent a lot of time in Germany and Austria and the food here is very authentic but also lighter and better. For my last visit, they made two specials for me by request that were not on the menu. Both dishes were incredible. The service is very good and the "vibe" in the restaurant is comfortable and fun. Great place and I highly recommend it.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at Naschmarkt and for new Austrian food. The staff was very attentive and patient with us as we worked thru the menu items to determine what we might enjoy. The food was delicious and served piping hot from the kitchen. Great wine and beer selection too! Definitely will return here again to enjoy this unique and satisfying dining experience!3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellence for EVERYONEAlways excellent, Naschmarkt proved so again! We see the menu changing each time we visit (about every two weeks). Not all changes are dramatic - some are mere tweaks - but they are all very well-conceived. Braised shortrib has been a special the last few times we've dined, but each time the accompaniment has been tweaked in new ways. Back again for dessert were the chef's "crêpes", which were highly recommended by the waiter, and even better than promised. We saw first-time diners and seasoned veterans delighted by all the wonderful food and service. This restaurant is not to be missed.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGo! Try it! Be amazed! We simply love Naschmarkt. The menu is constantly evolving, retaining some favorites (Wienerschnitzel) and adding new items. The service is always excellent or better, the ambiance is fantastic, the hostess (owner) is welcoming, warm, and gracious. This visit, the swordfish with roasted vegetables was new to the menu and incredibly delicious. The Jäger schnitzel in mushroom cream sauce with turnips and savory bread pudding was also new, and utterly perfect (except that I am the lone nut that would always like more turnip!). Every time we visit Naschmarkt we are reminded how incredibly lucky we are to live so near this fantastic treasure. This is the best restaurant in Campbell. Go! Try it! Be amazed!2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways 5-stars, best in San JoseWhat can we say about Naschmarkt that we have not already said? Consistently 5 stars, ALWAYS excellent service, ALWAYS "wow-that's-delicious!" food, great ambiance. This is probably the best overall restaurant in San Jose. The prices, the food, the portions, the service, the ambiance, the wine list, the everything, comes together to make for an excellent, excellent, excellent evening. This is probably our 20th visit to Naschmarkt, and we are always, always pleased. This time we had friends (who had never been) with us, who were blown away by how great the place was. Unless you get seated near the back by the bar, I could not imagine anything about this restaurant about which one could complain. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!1/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly refined, best serviceNaschmarkt is usually 5 stars. Still excellent, this time Naschmarkt was not quite usual perfection. All issues are nitpicks, so we still highly recommend it. All of the food was very good, except that the duck confit pasta didn't seem as perfectly composed as last time. This time, the flavors weren't as well balanced. The lamb special was excellent, but overpriced at $32 and lacked enough poached garlic. Service was top-notch, as usual. Biggest issue was that we were seated in worst seat in the house, adjacent to where the bar juts into the room, clogging the path to the kitchen; every server used the space right by our table as a waiting area. Every time I looked left, I was looking at a strangers back side. Not very relaxing.1/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best in San Jose/CampbellI RARELY give 5 stars, but Naschmarkt deserves it. This restaurant is always great in all aspects. I could recount again the professional and unobtrusive service, or the delicious food, the warm welcome, the great wine list. But I'd be repeating myself over and over and... Instead, I'll focus on what makes Naschmarkt so delightfully better than the rest: it's the small touches that almost go unnoticed. It's the way the staff keep the water glasses full, the coffee that has legs, the way they recognize you when you return, the way they froth the milk in the little pitcher that accompanies your coffee, or the bread that "just appears" when you have a bit of charcuterie left. We will return again and again.1/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Lunch, super service,Great Lunch, super service, overall a wonderful lunch. I had been here for dinner, but the lunch menu is different and equally good. Thanks for super service and a memorable lunch.12/21/2012 12:00:00 AM
