A word from Narcissa Restaurant
Named after the beautiful and feisty dairy cow who presides over André Balazs' Hudson Valley farm, the Locusts on Hudson, Narcissa marries the clean flavors and impeccably-sourced ingredients of California cuisine with new techniques of roasting, rotisserie and slow-cooking. Seasonal, local and organic produce from the farm have been specifically planted to support Chef John Fraser's healthy, multi-layered American menu, which offers both simplicity and sophistication.
The intimate neighborhood restaurant offers two dining rooms, one featuring a large open kitchen and chef counter, the other overlooking a charming private garden, allowing for al fresco dining in warmer months.

Diner Reviews
  • "Amazing service, unique beautifully crafted cuisine, and we'll crafted cocktails made this an amazing evening. The outdoor seating only served to further the wonderful experience at Narcissa. If you get the chance don't pass this up!"

  • "Been sever times. Always a delight. Love the jumbo biscuit with lavender honey butter. Everything is well prepared and you can tell a vision was examined and is followed through. Great place!"

  • "I knew the ratings and also the reviews, but unsure how the Chef would pull off these uniquely designed items. I was more than surprised. Each dish exceeded my imagination! The outdoor dining was intimate and quiet which also helped with the whole experience. We sat out on the lower grassy area under the trees. Service- Also outstanding! We eat out at NY specialty restaurants and have experienced so many of the great chef creations-I was truly amazed that this one is now a top favorite. SO grateful! The bar is raised. I think they know what they do well and do it to perfection every time. Quality consistency is the key. I also feel like each staff member cares. It shows. We'll be back regularly!"

  • "I went here thanks to a review from Immaculate Infatuation. Yet again, those guys were right on point. The food was lovely, service was great, and we (party of 4) walked out pleased. In terms of appetizers, the gnocchi, and polenta were my favorites. For my main, I had the scallops which also didn't disappoint. The portions weren't that big, but the meal was flavorful and very well done."

  • "I had a big expectation after reading restaurant review, but quite disappointed with food quality. Everything "looked" nice, though. The server suggested options for kids, but he obviously didn't taste the food before. It was so spicy that my boys filled up with bread only. I've had better duck, which was my entree choice, somewhere else. The server was too attentive that we felt rushed as well."

  • "I went here for my birthday dinner and everything about it was perfect! We sat outside on a gorgeous night and the ambiance was amazing. Lanterns give the perfect mood for a lovely dinner. Food was a lot of delicious farm to table. Get as many vegetables as you can handle!"

  • "To really enjoy Narcissa, you must sit outside in their charming garden. The service was excellent, our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. We had the whole roast chicken for two priced at $70 and it was nothing to write home about. Happy we experienced dining here, but will try other restaurants next month when we return to NYC."

  • "The food and ambience were great. Our waiter however had a bad attitude and clearly didn't want to be working that day."

  • "I went to Sunday brunch with four of my girl friends. We sat outside in the courtyard that was absolutely amazing. There was grass and a tree! We all remarked that we didn't feel like we were in NYC. The food was delicious as well and the eggs were very fresh - almost orange colored."

  • "Every single dish was delicious in its own unique way. In addition, the restaurant is beautifully designed and has a warm, energetic feeling inside. My only complaint is regarding my cocktail (The Gentleman Farmer), as it had much too strong of a lime taste."

  • "Great outdoor terrace. The ambiance was so great, I can almost overlook my cold poached eggs and the fact that the waitress completely botched a surprise dessert for one of the people at my table. French toast nibblers as a shared appetizer is a must for brunch."

  • "The most special experience for a birthday celebration. This is a true farm to table experience. The food preparation was outstanding, creative and delicious. Our waitress Brooke made the experience very special. From the most spectacular beet salad..to the carrots Wellington to the desserts....we were humming. The ambiance and service met the standards of the culinary skills"

  • "I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the choice for my vegan companion was excellent . The staff were charming and knowledgable and we were recommended an excellent red wine, which I would definitely have again. So somewhere I will go back to, though best to specify where you want a table, we were initially shown to a rather nondescript one, but they happily changed it for us"

  • "I requested (in the notes section of Open table) a perfect two top either outside in the courtyard or inside, mentioning it was one of our first special dates, and i'd leave it up to their recommendation. When I arrived all 3 hostesses smiled and said "we have a perfect table for you outside in the courtyard", and they winked at me. The dim lit atmosphere outside was perfect, service was great, and the farm to table food was amazing. They mentioned the farms from upstate NY and Vermont where they get all of their ingredients from, which was nice. We ordered a bottle of wine (Farmer Jane Garnacha, which was fantastic), and we also ordered the scallops and duck breast which were both delicious. I definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "A perfect meal. The outdoor garden is charming, elegant, sophisticated. Our food was expertly prepared, you taste the fresh ingredients in every bite. The menu offers interesting takes on classic dishes. My favorite dish was an appetizer of fresh tomato salad. Simple and delicious."

  • "It's great to see Chef Fraser trying new things, while maintaining some of the elements that made Dovetail such a special place. I do wish the Manchurian Cauliflower weren't basically a rendition of red sweet and sour sauce, and the much more Ave about carrot fries were more like carrots inside beignet batter. Offerings were otherwise excellent. Excellent service, nice surroundings."

  • "We requested an outdoor table several days in advance, and so glad we did: the outdoor space is lovely. It took almost 30 minutes to get our drink order taken, at which point we ordered our meal, but then the service picked up and was great for the remainder of the evening."

  • "Another excellent dinner at Narcissa. The service, food, and atmosphere are all top notch and the prices given the quality are fare. I think I'm willing to say that a Narcissa is overall one of the best dining experiences downtown."

  • "Narcissa is perfectly executed. Laid back vibe, flawless service, vibrant flavors. The fluke crudo and steamed bass were simply sharper and better than similar dishes at other restaurants roughly in this category. The vegetarian choices--highlighted by the Carrots Wellington--were strongly appreciated in our group. Top-level cocktails too."

  • "I have been to every iteration of this restaurant space and I think they finally have it! The food was light, but the flavor combinations were complex, it was elevated from your typical "farm to table" restaurant where you feel like every dish could be recreated at home by a good home cook. Stand out dishes included: rotisserie-crisped beets in a horseradish sauce, barley risotto, steamed black bass, whole rotisserie branzino, cheesecake, and the raspberry and lychee fruit salad. We ate outside on a perfect summer night and the noise level was at a perfect point we could actually converse with each other easily. Service was acceptable, but I felt that there were a couple of lapses that could be solved by a better trained staff."

  • "We had a 9pm reservation, but ended up opting for bar seating. The bartenders are excellent as well as fun. Started with the figs. AMAZING. I had the lamb, which was off the hook and my man had the duck. It was all delicious as were the cocktails. Well done!"

  • "As the title says, the service couldn't have been better. The rotisserie chicken special was good, but the larger pieces of chicken left something to be desired. Both the crab salad and softshell crab were exquisite, however."

  • "Veggie dishes are really great! especially anything with carrot! Chicken dish is nothing special but tasty, so as rib eye. Service is friendly but bit slow, over all I had a nice time with good food and wine."

  • "Small portions of non seasoned food was the only consistent aspect of the meal. Service was spotty as the meal progressed while managers played with their phones. Didn't even bother to stay for dessert, maybe we missed the best part. No way to know."

  • "Upon walking through the door, Narcissa exceeded my expectations. Although a member of our party was running extremely late, our server took note that we were gathered for a special birthday celebration and couldn't have been more pleasant or accommodating. In fact, providing an exceptional experience began with the hostess and maître d', who seated two of us before the remainder of the party had arrived and, in response to the request I made when reserving on OpenTable, gave us a lovely table with a stunning view of the room and the patio area. I actually think it's the best table in the entire restaurant. From cocktails to dessert, our meal was spectacular...everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Can't wait to return!!"

  • "Trees dripping in lights and lanterns. Prettiest outdoor setting for an early brunch or outdoor meal. We went for an early dinner to avoid crowds because we had a kid. The staff was friendly and attentive and very helpful in selecting courses for our meal. We opted for the special whole chicken (I think around $85?? but it fed all 4 adults!) with some sides and 4 appetizers. Drinks were great. I'd love to come back with gfs for a brunch or lunch again. It's just a great setting. Food is good but I think its the ambience and setting that sets it apart."

  • "This restaurant feels casual, at least for brunch, but the service is top notch and discreet (typical of a very high quality restaurant). With one exception that is - the hostess staff. They acted a bit unwelcoming when we first arrived, gave us a strange top to bottom judgmental glance (we were dressed appropriately for the time of day and venue). Attitude wise, they seemed a better fit for a bar or club in Meatpacking... Oh well, our waiter was amazing so that balanced out the experience. We ordered the French toast bites, the biscuit with honey-lavender butter, eggs Benedict with tomato, poached eggs with avocado toast, a side of fries, Bloody Marys, and a specialty cocktail (the Noonday Spritzer). Everything was very tasty!"

  • "We looked forward to this meal as big fans of The Standard. We were oh so disappointed to find it full of mistakes + mishaps. Two of us were persuaded to order the chef's special - a whole roasted chicken. When one of our bites revealed blood-red rawness on the bone, we were told not to worry, that this 'was normal' for a roast chicken. We then found even the wing meat was totally and dangerously raw. The waiter offered to have the chicken "reheated" (really?) - we decided to order something new. By the time the waiter came back 20 mins later, the others had finished their meals. Even a cocktail ordered to fill the time was forgotten. After 40 minutes a manager came by with a "sorry" and an offer of food. Terrible. 2 of us left w/o meals."

  • "Celebrated an anniversary here and we had a great meal with delicious wine. The two-top tables on the western wall of the restaurant were a little cramped (if they removed just one of the seven tables there it would be more comfortable and more intimate), but other than that, no complaints."
