A word from Narcissa Restaurant
Named after the beautiful and feisty dairy cow who presides over André Balazs' Hudson Valley farm, the Locusts on Hudson, Narcissa marries the clean flavors and impeccably-sourced ingredients of California cuisine with new techniques of roasting, rotisserie and slow-cooking. Seasonal, local and organic produce from the farm have been specifically planted to support Chef John Fraser's healthy, multi-layered American menu, which offers both simplicity and sophistication.
The intimate neighborhood restaurant offers two dining rooms, one featuring a large open kitchen and chef counter, the other overlooking a charming private garden, allowing for al fresco dining in warmer months.

A beautiful place to eat. Every bite we had was flavorful, just complex enough to still be enjoyed...but the service could use a shot in the arm. The hostess and bartender could barely muster a smile and our server couldn't pour wine without spilling on the outside of the glass and on the table. Didn't ruin dinner, but if those areas were even slightly improved it would make a big difference in overall enjoyment.

I enjoyed my recent dining experience at Narcissa. Our waiter was terrific explaining all the dishes and providing recommendations when asked. The food was delicious and there was a variety to choose from and the dishes were prepared well.

Cute restaurant and very tasty dishes. We got a variety of starters to share for the table. The vegetables to me stood out, especially the rotisserie crisped beets. I really like the figs too which went really well with the ricotta. For my main, I had the branzino which was very well cooked, although it wasn't anything too exciting. The carrot fries were delicious with the dip, but the kale was underwhelming. We had the poached pear for dessert which was very good. We were a party of 6 and had a bench table against the walls which made serving and clearing the table a bit difficult and dishes were just handed to us. I would ask for a table when booking next time.

Unfortunately the experience at Narcissa can be very even. The food there is generally quite good, but the rooms are very different, the main room is attractive and lively, but their second room feels like a cafeteria, really unattractive, kind of like a motel breakfast room, and that is where we were stuck, even though we had requested the other room. To add insult to injury there were mosquitos flying around and we repeatedly bitten, never eaten indoors in a NYC restaurant and been attacked by mosquitos before. The service feels rushed, the waiter uncaring, the tables are cramped and too close together, the portions very small for the price. All in all I would say the unpleasant atmosphere outweighs the good food.

Narcissa was perfect for our group, which included the hard-to-accommodate combination of a foodie who wanted something adventurous, an elegant person who cared about style and wine, and a vegetarian. Excellent execution on all fronts. The garden was a lovely setting.

4 at lunch. We sat indoors-near the outdoors at a lovely spacious table. The menu does does not look terribly exciting or innovative but the food was WOW. That is, when we eventually got a waiter to take our order. Even when we got up and looked for the maitre d' and asked for a waiter there was a considerable time lapse. Inexcusable--they were not busy-just understaffed. We hope to return...the food needs no help but obviously decent service is not included!

We loved Narcissa from top to bottom to begin with - the restaurant and bar are beautifully laid out, and the service is warm and friendly. We started with a drink each at the bar - the Frisky Cow (with bourbon and Aperol) was crisp and delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the Head Over Heels (gin and prosecco-based) - it was too sweet for me. Regardless, both were delicious. For dinner, I had the rotisserie-crisped beets; phenomenal arrangement. The creamed horseradish was a really fantastic complement to the slightly charred beets and tart apples. Really light and fresh. For the main, the carrots wellington were...a tiny bit underwhelming. Good, but not quite as phenomenal as I'd expected. Still delicious though. Overall, great experience!

Narcissa tends to fly under the radar a bit after the early glow and attention it received. It's definitely a solid all around establishment. The service is excellent with an inviting staff. The Menu offers a great mixture of farm to table driven dishes and solid proteins and seafood options to accompany the perfectly executed vegetables. The Branzino was moist and well dressed with a not overpowering mostarda often when I order the whole fish options I find myself begging for some acid but certainly not the case here. Bonus points for actually serving warm and flavorful fresh baked bread as opposed to the often lack luster cold waste of calories served in other reputable restaurants. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu

I'm a vegan and they were very accommodating food was fresh, creative, original, delicious. Beautiful space, they made me a green juice even though we were there for dinner, and it was only on the brunch menu. My husband had fish, and the beets appetizer , and said it was perfect, staff was informative, and attentive, and friendly. The bar served fresh local fruit, and vegetables mixed into their cocktails instead of the sugary, syrupy crap most bars use, all in all very impressed and would return.

I knew the ratings and also the reviews, but unsure how the Chef would pull off these uniquely designed items. I was more than surprised. Each dish exceeded my imagination! The outdoor dining was intimate and quiet which also helped with the whole experience. We sat out on the lower grassy area under the trees. Service- Also outstanding! We eat out at NY specialty restaurants and have experienced so many of the great chef creations-I was truly amazed that this one is now a top favorite. SO grateful! The bar is raised. I think they know what they do well and do it to perfection every time. Quality consistency is the key. I also feel like each staff member cares. It shows. We'll be back regularly!

I went here thanks to a review from Immaculate Infatuation. Yet again, those guys were right on point. The food was lovely, service was great, and we (party of 4) walked out pleased. In terms of appetizers, the gnocchi, and polenta were my favorites. For my main, I had the scallops which also didn't disappoint. The portions weren't that big, but the meal was flavorful and very well done.

I had a big expectation after reading restaurant review, but quite disappointed with food quality. Everything "looked" nice, though. The server suggested options for kids, but he obviously didn't taste the food before. It was so spicy that my boys filled up with bread only. I've had better duck, which was my entree choice, somewhere else. The server was too attentive that we felt rushed as well.

I requested (in the notes section of Open table) a perfect two top either outside in the courtyard or inside, mentioning it was one of our first special dates, and i'd leave it up to their recommendation. When I arrived all 3 hostesses smiled and said "we have a perfect table for you outside in the courtyard", and they winked at me. The dim lit atmosphere outside was perfect, service was great, and the farm to table food was amazing. They mentioned the farms from upstate NY and Vermont where they get all of their ingredients from, which was nice. We ordered a bottle of wine (Farmer Jane Garnacha, which was fantastic), and we also ordered the scallops and duck breast which were both delicious. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
