The food was excellent. i had the duck w/ mushroom risotto, and thoroughly enjoyed it. on my previous visit, I had the mahi mahi with a parmesan cheese glaze that was amazing. we brought friends this time and they were equally impressed!

What an amazing experience I had! The server was amazing as I know very little about wine, but he recommended the perfect one for my flounder. The dish was perfect, too, as it was light yet so flavorful for the summer time. The fella and I started with the stuffed meatballs, which were steaming hot and on a delicious bed of polenta. I tried the shrimp salad for dinner, and it was light and refreshing with great flavors. Fella got the scallops - I didn't try them, but he raved about them. Our waiter was attentive and went over the specials with us, as well as a few highlights from the menu. The atmosphere is elegant but casual. There was a band playing in the bar area when we arrived, and they were awfully loud, so I was glad they were wrapping up as we got there, but perhaps some people found them fun. Although we liked the menu of Providence Café better, we also like the menu and atmosphere of Napa on Providence. It's the perfect place for most all occasions, with a wonderful, knowledgeable wait staff and management. The food is fresh, well prepared, and beautifully presented. There are very affordable to expensive price ranges of wines, so don't be intimidated into thinking that wine you will like will cost more here; it doesn't. The entire dining experience far exceeded my expectations. Having lived in Northern California for much of my life, I'd say they did a great job creating a "Napa" ambiance. I will not hesitate to invite my out-of-town "wine snob" friends and family here. They'd all love it!
The service was truly impeccable. We dined on the patio and our waiter was superb. We then ventured into the bar and grabbed a seat after dinner. John was our bartender and the most friendly one I've met in my life. An onlooker would have thought we all knew each other for years but we had just met that evening.

From the moment I walked in the door I was welcomed by a big smile from a very pleasant maitre'd named Frannie. One of the managers, Scott, greeted me as I sat down and welcomed me back to the restaurant. This warm greeting made me wonder why I had only come in for dinner and happy hour recently. We both enjoyed a number of delicious small plates with exacting service by one of the new servers. NOP seems to be struggling to find its culinary character, it seems to seem to do comfort classics uniquely - but misses the mark. I had the Corvina as recommended, it was a bit overlooked, the sauce was delicious .but the sausage was painfully salty and did not enhance the dish.
If I didn't know better. I would think that the owners were pork farmers or related to some.
