The menu changes often, but somehow remains consistent. Risotto appetizer is a staple on our table. We tried the local asparagus w/ poached egg this time around as well. Delicious. The food is outstanding. The staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the menu, the ingredients, the food prep and wine list. The ambiance is great. The space itself is beautiful, but in a relaxing way and the Jane Filer art on the walls is perfection. Its also a place that you would feel equally comfortable in a coat and tie, business casual dress or jeans. The garlic soup and poached egg over polenta were outstanding. My husband's flounder was very good. We had a great bottle of vino nobile. At the end of the meal we were surprised with a little treat for our 29th anniversary. It was a great find. The reason for our visit was an anniversary celebration and we weren't disappointed. While we didn't indulge this time the chefs tasting menu at $50 is a true bargain, just go hungry.
Whatever rissoto is being offered is always another great choice. We enjoyed two seafood dishes on this visit, both were exceptional. The flounder was tender and perfectly seasoned. The surprise was how tasty the salad greens with buttermilk and Maytag blue cheese dressing was. The portion seemed more sized like an entree. They were both delicious and savory. The rest of the menu was somewhat pretentious. If you like veal, pork and fishy fish, then this menu is for you. The creativity but simplicity of everything we ordered was just amazing. Also, I had the best two cocktails (St. Fizz and the Nickel Pickle) and have already attempted to make them myself. We even tried to figure out if we could fit in going again on our short trip. The service was just as wonderful as the food. Our server made wonderful recommendations, knowledgeable about the menu and was happy to answer any questions.
