The red sangria was wonderful, the sparkling not so much (bitter). The portions are somewhat inconsistent in size with some dishes being about right and some entirely too large (as strange as this may sound). This serving size variation clearly varied in inverse proportion to ingredient cost. We also felt like the food was delivered too quickly (we went with tapas), almost in waves, whereas the best tapas restaurants plan this a bit better and at your eating pace. The food was a pretty good value for the money spent. While Nacional 27 is not our favorite Spanish/tapas in town, it is not bad, plus it is cool inside, so we would probably go again.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThorough menu of differentThorough menu of different South American fare. Fit for many occasions - we were there for girls night out, but many couples and other groups seemed to fit well there too. Shortly after we arrived, there was a successful proposal and everyone got to join in the applause and see the bride-to-be get weak in the knees thanks to the beautiful round room layout. Dinner was outstanding, although the white wine sangria wasn't a favorite among those in my group who ordered it. After dinner, our table turned into a front row seat to fantastic Latin dancing. A little pricey for the portions you get, but that's expected when you go to these kind of places. Drinks were also good, with the caipirinha and pisco sour being my favorites. The huge basket of chips and salsa they bring to the table first is a great start. The drinks were fresh and very good and our server was so attentive and accommodating. THe scallops were super and all the tapas we had were top notch. My friends and I went once in the summer and had a great time and I said I have to go back and that's what I did! The service was great, the food was exception and the vibe was energetic! The restaurant design is attractive in an industrial sort of way, and the layout is reminiscent of my image of a 1930’s supper club where the focus is on the dance floor. The food was good and plentiful, and the service was on the mark. Nice chips, ok salsa, interesting tapas, and tasty suckling pig, pan-roasted chicken, and Argentinean skirt steak with chorizo and chicken sausage. Also enjoyed was the Boca Loca drink flight.
