  • a HORRIFYINGLY terrible experience!

From the sassy hostess, to the obnoxious server, to the rude & uncaring "manager", to the 15 minutes we waited to be greeted & given water, to the 40 minutes we waited for our food, to the blasting club music you couldn't talk over- I'd say it's a HUGE blessing to the general public that this place shut down. I would recommend avoiding the other location in Plano since this is a "business" that CLEARLY does not have a grasp on hospitality, quality, or guest experience. They RUINED my Mother's Day with my daughter by laughing at me when I inquired as to the status of our food, making snide remarks toward me in front of my child & other patrons, and forcing me to walk out & have to go find another place to eat who would treat us with respect.

Pleasantly surprised after all the reviews on OpenTable and Yelp. The sushi we got was great. The stuffed jalapenos were also good. Fried calamari was not worth getting, though. Waitstaff was attentive and had no problems with waiting.

This was a miserable dining experience. We were seated in an exterior/overflow seating area. The acoustics were so terrible that our party of 5 could not converse. The waiter asked my brother who ordered the wine if he wanted to taste it before committing to the bottle. We were in shock at his inexperience or bold assumption that we didn't care or know better. We have dined at the Naan at Shops at Legacy which we very much enjoyed. This location, however, must be struggling to stay in business. They are serving cheeseburgers and cheese fries and burritos at brunch and happy hour! More than a bad meal, it was a wasted opportunity for an enjoyable evening out with family and friends.

I think they are more interested in their bar sales then their sushi sales. All of their signature rolls are college themed, which is appropriate, because the ambiance was about the same as a college bar, and mediocre sushi tasted as if it came from a college cafeteria.

My fiancé and I want to NAAN sushi on our Valentines date. We had a reservation at 7pm but wanted to arrive a little early due to the prime time rush of couples. Valet was free and prompt! When we walked into NAAN (6:45pm) the hostess was friendly with an inviting smile! We were sat immediately! Our server was very knowledgable of the menu and attentive to our needs. The food was wonderful! There are only 2 things that could have been better...1: NAAN presents itself as more than just a casual restaurant but the owner/manager walks around talking to customers a bit too unprofessional for my taste. He took away from my romantic dinner with my fiancé by talking and laughing very loudly with a group sitting behind us; 2: ambiance was too dark!

Never Again! I have been to this restaurant approximately 20 times. In the last year service has continually gone down hill. With the diminishing service and the gradual decline in the quality of food, I have made this my last visit to Naan Sushi. Food was forgotten from the order. The bill was left and never retrieved. When I attempted to speak with the owner I was shunned away to the manager. No offer of any discount on current bill or a future visit was offered. I will never go here again. Service is extremely poor, not attentive and in some visits completely forgotten. Good Bye Naan. I hope another restaurant soon takes over this great location. You dont deserve to be here.

  • The food and service at Naan
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 11/21/2012
The food and service at Naan Sushi is pretty good. I'd give the food 6/10 and the service a 7/10. What struck me as odd was that this restaurant calls itself "upscale", but the vibe of the place isn't really very upscale. The interior is beautiful, but the plastic menus and an overexcited owner (or manager?) going around and pointing out what the most popular sushi on the menu is (while wearing a baseball cap) just doesn't scream upscale to me. Plus, my husband's mixed drink was mostly ice, not much kick to it. Overall, I can't say I recommend this place because I know of many better (and low-key) sushi places. To improve, I think the management just needs to decide if Naan is upscale or casual and stick with that vibe.

I read bad reviews about this place, but I have to tell you that my experience was great. I took my mom for mothers day and we enjoyed it. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and even recommended the SMU roll to us, which was by far the best sushi roll i've ate! make sure you get eel sauce (sounds gross, but was definitely delectable!) We sat outside on the patio because it was pretty that day, the inside is the normal downtown dallas restaurant scene.

I had a groupon to Naan Sushi, however, made in error purchasing the Groupon thinking it was the one in uptown. The one I purchased was for the Naan in Plano. I asked the waiter to ask the manager to see if he would honor the groupon. The manager approved the request and all went seemlessly. The sushi was fresh, flavorful and presented beautifully. Thank you to the Uptown Naan for their kindness and service.

Sushi was average but service was poor. Ten minutes after being seated, we still had not been greeted by a server. I literally had to go up to the host stand and ask them to send a server to our table. The great menu and creative, locally-themed rolls still don't make up for the poor service. I wouldn't recommend this place for anything but the menu.

This was our first visit to Naan. We found the food to be very good beginning with the dumplings and going on to the sushi and Teriyaki Chicken. Some areas of the restaurant were still under construction with plywood bar tops, but we sat in the dining area without distraction. Our server, Levon, was courteous and patient, and we were in early for dinner, leaving us little competition for his attention.

Naan sushi is a great restaurant with a nice upscale feel. The service is friendly, helpful and attentive. Just be prepared to learn sign language beforehand, since it will be the only way to carry on a conversation. The music playlist was fun and upbeat, but the volume was insanely loud. The server did turn it down upon request. It stayed at the lower volume for all of 5 minutes before being returned to deafening. Several other patrons complained about the excessive volume, but the same procedure was applied of only reducing it for a few minutes. The sign language skills will be handy since your ears may be ringing for a while after you leave.

The sushi was good, but there is better sushi available throughout the Metroplex. Most items are well over priced. You are paying more for the ambiance than you are the food. I would rate this restaurant as average. One good perk is they have a late night happy hour as well as an evening happy hour. The prices are average to moderate during happy hour.

Overall, a great sushi place that also has other Asian...mostly Japanese...dishes. Our main issue was that a food item...that we did not have...was added to our bill. When we called this out to the waitress, who took the bill back. When she returned, only 1/2 of the non-existent food item cost had been removed. When we asked about this, she said that this was because it was happy hour. ...???... After we demanded that we weren't even going to pay 1/2 the cost of an item we neither ordered nor received, she took the full amount off. Probably the strangest explanation for an overcharge I've ever had.
