The staff was extremely accommodating by providing a high chair and sitting us where there would be enough space for all of us. The food was excellent and the price was reasonable for a holiday event. Our toddler was very hungry and our waitress rushed his order so he could eat as soon as possible. She frequently came to check on us even though she had multiple tables to handle, she made us feel like we were her only customers. The staff even offered to take a group picture of us so we could share the moment. Had a reso at 1:30 on Mother's Day. Showed up 15 min early and were seated exactly at 1:30. Food at our table ranged from simple kid-friendly fare (grilled cheese, hamburger) to tasty casual adult meals (chjicken sandwich with arugula, crabcake sliders). Service was a little slow but given it was Mother's Day and they were very crowded, it wasn't unreasonable. Plus, the ambiance more than compensated for the wait. Our waitress offered to take pictures of our family outside in front of Zeus (it was also our daughter's birthday) so she deserves extra kudo's, too! is that the bar service left a lot to be desired. The selection of liquors was very limited. I find it incredible that ANY BAR would not
have sweet or dry vermouth. How could you make a martini or manhattan? Park was closing at 6 so I understood the change of time. Problem was we felt rushed because they were closing soon after we arrived. My son wanted a milkshake with dinner but they said bartender already left and could not make it. There were a lot of mushroom dishes, so if you like mushrooms, it is a good place to eat. The day we were there they were only open to 4pm, so that was the last seating of the day. I can actually say it was the best meal I have ever had. My only slight disappointment was that I wanted to surprise my daughter with a birthday dessert but the hostess would not allow me to do it ahead of time. I was told I had to talk to the server about it once we were seated which didn't happen. They did offer and bring her a dessert shot but there was no element of surprise or special item to celebrate. Typical children menu with gourmet food available for adults. Everything tasted great and was served beautifully on the plate. Price was very reasonable. Just a few dollars more than the typical fast food in the parks, but much better quality. The inside had a great theme that everyone seemed to enjoy. Our table was waiting for us at the exact time of reservation. Superb waitress helped me make my food selection by offering a green salad instead of potato salad. My fish tacos were full of crunchy veggies. My husband, the meat eater, rated those petite fillets top notch. This restaurant is great for people who want a nice break from all the walking and riding in the park. We had mahi mahi, which was cooked through (depending on your perspective that is either good or bad). My favorite item was actually the spinach salad with some kind of blueberry dressing. Delicious. Also loved the rosemary bread. Mmmmmmm.
A big draw here is the theming and it doesn't disappoint - it's like dining in some fantasy cave, with not a straight wall in sight, inside or out. Lots to look at. Restaurant is pretty bright, though. Only atmospheric disappointment is a high noise level. Wait staff is excellent.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have eaten here many times.We have eaten here many times. Our last visit was less than stellar, but hoping that was not the new norm. We have had many wonderful dining experiences here. This last time, the meat was overcooked. In all fairness, I did on mention it to the server who would have surely switched it out. We did not have as good of an experience as we did the first time. My son and I ordered the same meal that we had on our first visit which was the Bacon Cheeseburger. This time the burger was so greasy that the bottom bun was soaked. The first time it was excellent. The service is excellent and the ambiance is excellent. We did not complain about the food to the waiter. These 2 visits were only about 6 weeks apart and it was my birthday. My 11-year old was dismayed at the lack of chicken tenders on the menu, but our server Jeff accommodated her request to downgrade the BBQ Buffalo chicken wrap without batting an eye. Jeff was personable, friendly and provided great service! All of us enjoyed the still fresh warm herb bread while we waited. The Shrimp Tempura Sushi appetizer was outstanding, as was the pizza appetizer. My son's hamburger looked like a real, handmade patty, and he raved about the bun. Blueberry Spinach Salad with Salmon was simply the most satisfying spinach salad I've ever eaten. Fresh, tasty and a perfect mix of flavor. The decor and low noise level make you forget that you're at Universal Studios. The prices are very great for the food that you get! You're going to pay $10 for a burger, fries and a drink at the other places and have to fight for a place to sit. You can make reservations here ahead of time and pay not much more for more of a gourmet meal. They have a good variety of food from pizzas and chicken wraps on the casual side, to steak for a nice dinner, and Pad Thai if you want to go ethnic. They also have little desserts in shot glasses so that you can have a small taste of dessert without getting stuffed. I ate at two restaurants at Disney (Yak and Yeti and also San Miguel) making reservations for all three (Mythos included) at the same time. I felt the seating arrangements offered at Disney were much nicer, one with a water view and the wait staff were much friendlier and engaging. I also think the food was more reasonably priced. Where I would eat again at the Disney restaurant, I don't think I would at Mythos as it would work better for a couple on a romantic dinner then a family coming for a lunch.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choice after a tiring dayWe chose to make reservations at Mythos during our vacation to Island of Adventures. We did not know much about it with the exception of pictures from the website and a few reviews. Our kids were amazed by the inside and the seating was just what was needed after an entire day of walking - very very comfortable. Menu was great, even for kids, but the risotto of the day dish was terrific!!!! Pizza for kids was brick-oven style with a great crust and burger was terrific as well. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely eat there again nc recommend to others that were vacationing there. It was a great place for dinner if you are looking for a sit down meal with more than your regular "park food options." Its menu was really varied, probably the most varied on our holiday to Orlando. We all tried something different, the childrens menu was great, my daughter loved the banana split, the rest of us had the ravioli, the chicken wrap and I had the chicken salad. All sound simple but the chicken and cashew salad was probably the bet meal I've had whilst here. The ambience and service were also great, busy when we went but still felt relaxed and our waiter was great, took us through the menu in detail and left just enough time before coming back with courses and to see if everything was ok.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! If you don't have reservations, you can put your name on their list and go on some more rides or shop and they'll text you when they have an opening which I thought sounded great. Great value for the food and ambiance. My daughter and I went twice on our trip, and all of our entrees were delicious! I would eat all of my meals there while at Universal Islands of Adventure!
