It certainly will not be our last time at Mystic Fish - all was wonderful! We had reservations and were seated right away. The restaurant was busy as it was Mother's Day but we received great service - our server was excellent. The food was delicious - there was four of us and everyone loved their dinner. The building is older but very well decorated inside. All tables set formally. Wait staff appeared very well versed and friendly; our waitress was excellent. Menu offered a good variety of seafood, beef, pork, and chicken. The main course was very well presented, the fish was so fresh it tasted like it was caught that day! Service was excellent. A great experience and definitely on the "go back" list for us.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day diningMy husband and I took my mom & dad to Mystic Fish for Mother's Day dinner. What a treat! Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. He easily answered our questions about the menu, and was on the spot when we needed anything, even though he had other tables, including a large group. There were several Specials on the menu that were intriguing. The "small plates" make it easy to try several different things. The Lobster Bisque is my favorite, and I get it almost every time we dine there. Fantastic! Side vegetables are always perfectly cooked. My mom and I each ordered dessert. She loved the creme brulée. I decided to try the salted caramel gelato. It was a great choice. I would definitely order it again. Our table was ready, and our server skillful and relaxed, despite the hubbub. Food was excellent--went with the bronzed Chilean sea bass, a favorite. For an upscale restaurant the pricing was very reasonable for early meals.The well drinks were $2.50, The food was delicious and obviously very fresh. Nice presentation. For the 5 of us ordering 5 meals we only paid $91- plus tip.
This is a smoke free restaurant, but we had to smell cigarette smoke throughout our meal. The smoking tables are located just outside the front entrance door and should be moved out as far as possible. The smell of smoke was infiltrating the restaurant and we were sitting, way inside, far from the front door. The ambiance in the restaurant is excellent except for this smoke issue.Recommend asking for a table far away from front.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFood, as always, was fantastic.Food, as always, was fantastic. Having so many choices on the menu that sounded great, went with the mixed-grill that featured 2 of those other menu choices. Still can't say which I liked best (Mahi with Pineapple salsa, swordfish with artichokes or the salmon with ...), but it was so good! They just know how to do it right....atmosphere, warm and professional service, and a menu that is hard to beat. The food is always good (I mean really good) and the prices are reasonable for upscale dining. While the restaurant is always busy, we have always been treated like we were good neighbors and best friends, a really nice welcoming feeling. If you like good, fresh seafood prepared in some very creative ways, you should try this reastaurant. The restaurant has a happy hour and most drinks are $250. When I received the bill, I noticed that three drinks on the rocks cost $3.00 each. Of course the .50 by itself is trivial, but the fact that it was not stated on the menu, nor mentioned by the waitress was inexcusable. In my work I travel the country and eat out three to four nights a week. Mystic Fish has a terrific menu with plenty of variety. Entrees with incredible sauces and creative presentations. Good atmosphere and great service. I love it and will go back again and again.

Normally I look to Tampa or downtown St. Pete for an upscale dining experience. Looked at Open Table for ideas and decided upon Mystic Fish because it was pretty near where I live. Yum, yum. Goat cheese spring roll appetizer was decadently rich and flavorful. My salmon was grilled to perfection and the accompanying vegetable medalie was fresh and lightly seasoned. My husband ate every last bite of his hearty and boulliabiase. I enjoyed the tangy key lime panna cotta. Just a nice few bites to end the meal. Would be great place to bring guests. It's not the most romantic environment, but reliably comfortable and elegant, and the staff are wnderful -- from the person who greeets you at (and sometimes outside) the door, to the server to the person who says goodbye and checks to make sure everything was as it should be.
I am pretty conserqative with the stars; 5-star places should be the one or two at the absolute top of the list.
