Mykonos GrillFinally got to try and so worth it!We have wanted to eat here for many years but never had the chance. After reading a great review in Bethesda magazine we decided to give it a try for my wife's birthday. We were very impressed. This is a very authentic Greek restaurant with wines and food that are top notch. The service was very good and the food was amazing. It was our first time in this restaurant. The food was outstanding! The service was great, they served food pretty quickly and it was hot, the meat was tender and the rest of the food was excellent too. Some of us ordered a special - lamb shank and some of us ordered sample platter. All was great! The best dolma or dolmades I ever had! Musaka was delicious. The salad was fresh and very tasty too. My favorite dish is the chilian sea bass served with potatoes and a vegetable. The service is helpful and friendly and they let me taste a bit of wine before ordering it since I was not familiar with Greek wines. We got there early so there was little background noise. We had asked for a "quieter" corner, knowing that the low ceilings (very traditionally Greek) could make conversation a little harder. Decorated as if you are dining outdoors on a Greek island, this restaurant is appropriate for both quiet, intimate meals as well as special occasions for small groups. The service is friendly, helpful and prompt but not overbearing. The wine list is Greek, but carefully selected for both quality and reasonable prices. The food is fresh and authentic. Our group had a variety of appetizers, including superb dolmathes and perfectly grilled octopus. The trout with spinach and feta is outstanding, and their baklava is among the best I have ever tasted. We lived in Greece for 6 years and the food at Mykonos makes me remember that lovely country. Some other Greek restaurants have just some of the favorites and whatever they serve is prepared in a more typically American way (which is fine too if you're not looking for especially ethnic food!), but for authentic Greek recipes and preparation, Mykonos is a great choice! You are always given a warm welcome when entering the restaurant. If you've ever been to Greece the decor, with a white and blue motif, will remind you of eating dinner in any number of Greek island restaurants. Mykonos' menu is full of classic Greek specialties as well as a daily special menu. The food is well prepared and the portions generous. The service is very attentive and the servers are pros.
