A word from Myers + Chang
Myers + Chang is a funky indie diner setting offering Chef/Owner Joanne Chang and Christopher Myers's very personal interpretation of Chinese, Taiwanese, Thai, and Vietnamese specialties. At Myers + Chang, we focus on sourcing fresh, beautiful, local-when-possible ingredients, using lighter sauces, and giving you either fun and innovative takes on classic dishes, or creating new dishes that stay true to the flavors of the region.

We are inspired by Taiwanese soul food and Southeast Asian street food, all done with a great deal of care. It is a personal, sometimes loose interpretation, to be sure, but our criteria are simple: everything we make must be fresh, delicious, and addictive. We are passionate about sharing our love of this food with you.

Food here was interesting! Had the pork + chives dumplings, pork belly bun (bao), and the short ribs. The pan fried dumplings tasted great but it was a tad over cooked on the pan as it the bottom of the dumplings were hard. The bao was tasty and very rich from the belly fat yumm. Interesting concept and great food, but a bit over-priced chinese food.

Meyers and Chang looks to have grown from the remnants of an old diner. I am not sure of that but have a strong suspicion it is correct. Please do not that simple description of place in any way hold you back They have softened the interior so well that it is a cool ambience. The sensory buzz of fabulous smells, over the top genuinely friendly and outgoing staff mellow lighting and background symphony of open kitchen and crowd rumble are only a preamble to the taste delights. Creative sauces and unusual pairings truly expand the gastronomic universe. When in Southie, don't miss this spot.

Repeat visitor to this restaurant; we are not from Boston but friends brought us last time we visited and we really enjoyed Myers & Chang, so this time I brought my grad students. We had a great dinner, with interesting and creative food (Green Monster, a new dish, was great), perfect for sharing. Total bill excluding alcohol & tip for 5 people was $80, which I thought was very reasonable. Service was excellent.

Myers + Chang is a gem. Ridiculously delicious food - everything we got was the kind of savory and amazing that makes you stop the conversation and shift to talking about "how did they do that?!" For example, their brussel sprouts, you'd think that every treatment had been thought of (remember, kale is the new brussel sprouts) but M+C's sweet and sour is remarkable. The Wild Mushroom Omelette rice bowl is flavorful, plentiful and visually delightful. Our server Sarah was charming, timely, knowledgeable and the right balance of attentive while not hovering. Really couldn't have been better - definitely suggest becoming a regular.

Lunch was mixed. Vietnamese Dip was outstanding. My wife has GF noodle dish with broccoli rabe. The rabe was very stringy. Flavor was great but the stringiness made it a small issue. Hot & sour soup was very good. Desserts were the excellent and service outstanding. Logistically for the more seasoned clients, the menu was tough to read, stylish but difficult to read without iPdone love but.

This is a perfect place for something different-- lots of options to share with unusual tastes and plenty of choices for a wide variety of foodies (from those who decline meat to those who crave it). Have never had a bad meal, even if one or two choices were not my favorites. Overall, the service provides great advice and the atmosphere is informal and friendly. This is a perfect choice for groups--not too many-- who just want to try new things and appreciate some spice.

This is a very good fusion Asian restaurant on the South Side. Food is generally good to great. Appetizers tended to be better than entrees. Service was terrific, and the place is a lot of fun. Tip: If you want to hear your dinner partner, you might ask for a table along the wall toward the back (near the bar).

We love the layers of the flavors used at M+C--ginger, cilantro, lime, chili, vinegars...Duck wings, pork buns and Indonesian fried rice were absolutely incredible must-haves. Surprising the fish tacos were somewhat underwhelming--tasty but not quite the wow factor we expected. Regardless I love this place and highly recommend it!

Full disclosure: I'm a longstanding fan of Myers and Chang. We sit at the bar, watching the cheerful choreography of food preparation. Chef/Owner Joanne Chang and Executive Chef Karen Akunowicz continue to innovate. We tried the new wild mushroom lo mein, not a pile of noodles with topping but a rich medley of mushrooms, dark sauce and lo mein. Favorites such as the lemony shrimp dumplings, golden on one side and soft on the other, and the crisp artic char roll tasted delicious as ever. For those with food allergies, the menu now lists vegetarian, nut-free, and gluten-free items for convenience. If you've never visited Myers and Chang, you are in for a treat. If you have, go back for the yummy fun of it.

We really enjoyed this place. For our first visit we were there for a Sunday brunch, which is there dim sum menu. All the menu items were terrific, and they did exceptionally well at accommodating our one vegan person. Really interesting menu, including drinks, and the service/wait-person was terrific. Our only negative -- the music system was too loud to allow for a comfortable foursome conversation. We considered asking for a different table, but we saw there were ceiling speakers throughout and we didn't bother asking if there might be a quieter place. All in all, however, this is as good a place as its reputation.

Every time I come here, I am so taken aback by how nice the staff is. Every one of them. And accommodating. What did I do to deserve this? Do they get special training in "niceness"? I just don't usually expect it in a place that seems trendy. Food was brought to us one after another, whenever they came hot off the press, presented with a smiling phrase like, "here are your dan dan noodles!" I have been a few times. My first time, I loved sitting at the bar and watching the show. Love the mix of food choices, including plenty of veg options. Go when they have Dim Sum, for an opportunity to taste a variety of dishes. Love the hakka eggplant dish. Perhaps the most. Can get busy, so reservations are recommended.

The hosts greeted us warmly and seated us right away. The corner table at the end of the bar by the kitchen was not a great location but it was looking very busy in the restaurant, so there were no other options. We had decided on our food choices, but had to ask a bus person to find the server so that we could order, because it had been about ten minutes and no one had come to the table. Once we placed the order, the rest of the experience went smoothly. Everything we ordered was delicious. The Scallion Pancakes and Cold Thai Dan Dan Noodles were so tasty. The Balsamic Salmon and Tamarind Glazed Scallops were excellent and cooked as we asked. The Vanilla Bean Parfait was especially good and a refreshing way to end our meal.

I work not far from myers + chang and love their food but had never been there. its a fun atmosphere. The service was good. But cant say great. They were busy (which is totally their fault for being good), but seemed stretched a bit for staffing. I never got a napkin either. Small oversite. Kind of weird. I honestly didn't even notice for a bit but when I did it was hard to get someones attention to ask.

We had high expectations and were very disappointed. The pork dumplings were too greasy and not as good as I get from my neighborhood Thai takeout place. To make matters worse, we specifically ordered them as an appetizer, and they were served at the end of our meal! The beef and broccoli chow fun was doused in a brown sauce that we didn’t like. The best thing was the Thai ginger chicken salad was very tasty, with lots of fresh herbs and lime juice. I wouldn’t order it again because the chicken was ground into unappealing bits, and there was also something tiny and crunchy in the salad it that felt like biting into sand or small pebbles. We could have had a better meal for half the price at any number of other Asian restaurants.

I have been wanting to go to Myers and Chang for years and was not disappointed in the least. The food, drinks and service were fantastic. My only issue was that we were seated next to the patio door that kept being opened to bring table settings in and out and then seat people. In this summer, it would have been fine. On a 50 degree October evening, it was a detriment. This would not stop me from returning - the food was awesome - but I'll definitely request a different table next time.

Eight of us dined here to celebrate my birthday and it was a perfect experience. The food was great and we loved all the sharing. We each ordered 2 dishes and then passed everything around. Some dishes were so good -- mussels, scallion pancakes, dumplings -- we had to order seconds. Our waiter was attentive and kept the food coming. Everyone enjoyed the lively setting and the variety. And, as a bonus, Joanne Chang was in the house and greeted our table.

Four of us went for Dim Sum brunch on Sat at 12:30. We had a number of dishes all of which were well prepared and interesting. The braised pork belly bao is fantastic. We had one of our party who turned out to be allergic to rice of all things. It is difficult to dance around that in a largely asian themed restaurant. No rice, rice wine, rice wine vinegar or anything that contained anything rice related. The staff was very accommodating seeking out all of the dishes on the menu that either contained no rice products or could be slightly modified to accomodate. We still had a great brunch with the available choices. My hat is off to both the chef and the staff for accommodating such an unusual request.
