Myers + ChangGreat experience!Went there for the first time and loved it! Joanne Chang was there working and talking to diners. Food and service could not have been better.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery morsel of food was excellentPerfectly seasoned. The service was outstanding! The ideal balance between professionalism, warmth and humor.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMexciting flavors, great cookingThe food at Myers & Chang is just great -- brilliant use of flavors, dishes just unusual enough to delight the palate. Service, while friendly and engaging, could have been a bit more efficient -- the glass of wine we ordered with dessert never materialized. But we'll be back for sure.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Asian Dining in New England!!!Disguised as a funky diner, this is serious food prepared by those who know how! Very rare for any restaurant to deliver so perfectly in every dimension. A great evening!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMyers and Chang has a veryMyers and Chang has a very creative menu and excellent service!
We especially enjoyed the ahi tuna wraps, the short ribs, and the chicken wings!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTrendy Asian fusionMyers & Chang is nothing if not energetic. It's in a modern but cramped room, with servers scurrying and the cooks, in plain view, hustling to prepare dishes. The parade of plates coming out to an eclectic clientele provide worthwhile eating, for the most part. Traditional Asian starters yielded a mixed verdict: scallion pancakes were expertly fried, but the spring rolls had no flavor. Among the fusion dishes, a salmon and apple tartare with jalapeños had great flavor. Chicken and waffles were well prepared, and a huge portion, but the Asian influence was fairly muted. Not so with my dessert, a refreshing lemon pudding with a homemade fortune cookie that actually tasted good. Plus, the staff-written fortune inside yielded a chuckle.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMRare visit to the Big CityWanted an edgy brunch with visiting relatives. This filled the bill...huge dim sum brunch menu, unusual and tasty selections, very friendly staff. Not for those on a low fat diet!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWow.I save my five-star ratings for only the best. Myers & Chang not only gets five stars, but it probably slides into my top 5 favorite restaurants in Boston...they made that great of impression on one visit. The wok charred octopus and grilled corn in sriracha butter and nasi goreng (fried rice) are two of the most flavorful dishes I've ever had. The atmosphere is relaxed, service was fantastic, and the open kitchen works, as everyone looks like they are truly enjoying cooking for you (unlike some other Boston spots with a similar layout). I can't wait for round 2.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Interesting SelectionsI have been to Myers + Chang a times and as always I was impressed with the new dishes I tried, and continued to enjoy the dishes I have had before. They are always creative and intriguing but rarely if ever do they disappoint!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat way to start the weekMyers & Chang does a special Cheap Date Night offer on Mondays/Tuesday. 40 USD for dinner for two, and it is really, really good. You can pick from 5 different set menus, and a bottle of wine for 25. Great success, cool vibe, nice service. Highly recommended.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFab Pan-Asian With StyleDon't miss: the Dan Dan noodles, the lamb belly, the salmon tartare with jicama (SOOO fresh!). Even vegetable sides like salad greens and eggplant were delicious and unique. If I lived in Boston, I'd be a regular regular!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food in BostonThe food at Myers and Chang is always unique. The menu is so diverse , a vegetarian or carnivore would be equally happy. The servers make you feel welcome and are ready with suggestions about menu choices if asked. I guess i would describe a meal there as an explosion of wonderful flavors.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh dim sum.Delicious dim sum made with fresh ingredients. Waitress was very helpful directing us to menu highlights and toward items our vegan guests could enjoy. We loved it.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA Good Fusion Asian RestaurantFriendly, helpful and attentive service. Good flavorful food, in a fun environment.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place!Went here for two-year anniversary with my boyfriend. We did the cheap date night dinner option, everything was delicious, food came fast, service was great. We will definitely be back!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI'll be back soonI'm sorry it took me so long to get to Myers + Chang. I've admired Flour for some time now and kept meaning to make a res at Chef Chang's flagship resto. Finally had dinner there with my brother and we were so glad we did. So many Boston area restaurants claim to be asian fusion. But they're posers. For me, Myers + Chang and the recently opened Blue Dragon are the real deal. BTW, don't miss the grilled octopus with corn.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Wife Was Right AgainI'm old school. I like Atlantic Fish Company , Aquitane and cheese burgers. I can be really hard on "trendy" Asian restaurants especially if they're overpriced. But this place is great! I've had the Hake twice. It is some of the best fish I've ever had. Date night is a bargain. And the Vanilla Bean Parfait dessert is just wonderful. My Wife Was Right Again.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLove, Love, Love it Here!Great food - try everything and explore the asian fusion food that is so well prepared and imaginative. Great cocktails too!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Boston Dining experienceLoved the dumplings and the grilled octopus and corn!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMeclectic and fun; good foodWe really enjoy the small plate concept which allows you to try a large variety of the innovative twists they have on Chinese and Thai food. The service is very friendly and the dishes come out quickly. You can order a few.. tthen decide on if you'd like seconds or move on to try different dishes. It's a casual and fun place to eat. We'll be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Myers + Chang. GreatWe love Myers + Chang. Great food that's creative and well prepared, friendly, lively atmosphere. When we bring friends from out of town, they always rave about the food. Some favorite dishes: arctic char roll, sweet-and-sour soup, any of the vegetable sides.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAsian comfort foodVery good food, energetic, fun vibe, but too noisy to have a meaningful conversation with your partner without shouting.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulousThe food is incredible. I try items I would probably never try anywhere else. Very original options. The staff is always very, very friendly and accommodating.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat night out!Date night! One of my coworkers has been raving about Myers & Chang for months now and I had never been before so when it came to me picking a restaurant for my boyfriend and I to visit for a night out on the town, I immediately thought of this place and was so pleased (we both were)!
When we walked in, we both instantly commented on the decor and ambiance- it was a really cool vibe in there and reminded me of a place you might find in downtown NYC. We were seated right away (I made reservations days before) and our server came over and welcomed us promptly. Throughout the meal, our server was incredibly nice, patient, and helpful in offering her suggestions. Dinner was delicious! Definitely save room for desert, too. 100% worth it.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMstaffOur waitres was wonderful, went out of her way to get us oriented and and get going with fantastic choices.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best meal we had in boston...The best meal we had in boston... a definate must try. If I lived in boston it would be my regular go to spot. Service was incredible. Who would have known it was our server's first day. She was cheerful, knowledgeable and made great recommendations. I will dream about the garlicky coal black wings for some time.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFunky as you would expectFunky as you would expect in the South End. Great food and lots of variety. Not your usual pan-Asian. Good spot for people watching too. Gets packed starting at 6PM.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe only suggestion is thatThe only suggestion is that I wish everyone's meals were served simultaneously.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh End Dim SumWe went for dim sum on Sunday. It's not the same as dim sum in Chinatown proper, even though we were still in Chinatown. No ladies pushing carts here, and everyone speaks English. There was only 1 Asian person working in the restaurant so I admit I was a little worried, but several diners were Asian. The cocktails were excellent, with an Asian twist, and the dim sum was original, and had AMAZING flavors. This is high end dim sum at its best. I can't recommend this place enough!I'm looking forward to returning for dinner!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to go again!!!!!!This was our first visit to Myers and Chang. We saw Joanne on an episode of "Simply Ming" with Ming Tsai on PBS and again on another cooking show (possibly Food Network) and said "We have to try this place"! The food is uncluttered, 4-5 ingredient based, and simply delicious. Being this was out first visit, we decided to order an appetizer or two, then, depending on those and how hungry we were, we would keep ordering...or not. We started with Mama Chang's pork dumplings - thin dumpling skins and the pure flavor or delicious pork were a huge hit. Then the airy, crispy scallion pancakes, then the fish tacos, and chicken and udon noodles were delectable treats. You MUST go here!!!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect place to get togetherPerfect place to get together w/ some girlfriend. Inventive food and drinks!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing-- inspired,The food was amazing-- inspired, novel, and supremely made. Pre-ordered a special b-day cake - awesome!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGot a little lost becauseGot a little lost because instructions on email said to enter 81 E. Berkeley in our GPS. We parked there and were nowhere near the restaurant. We walked back to our car and then had to drive a bit to get the restaurant. Place was crowded but they had our table ready for our 5 person reservation. Drinks were good. Food was good except for shortribs which were dried out. Desserts were amazing.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an awesome experienceWe had an awesome experience and can't wait to go back! The Chicken & Waffles were absolutely incredible. Also our server, Peter (along with the rest of the service staff) was incredibly attentive and Chef Karen was great to both watch and talk to throughout our meal. Highly recommended.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe fact that your table isThe fact that your table is ready at the time of your reservation already hits high marks. We ordered the following : scallion pancakes, pork bao buns, Mama Chan's dumplings, Korean BBQ sloppy joe and fried rice. Don't forget dessert ! House made coconut cream pie, yes the tart shell was hand made, and a vanilla cream with organge granita. Service was friendly, not overbearing, just the way we like it. Water glasses were constantly full.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen we ordered our meal,When we ordered our meal, we asked our waitress if we should order just our apps first or just tell her everything now... in hopes that all of our food wouldn't come out at once. It did. I don't know if that's just how things go there, but unfortunately a lot of our food got cold. All that being said, the food was DELICIOUS! Also, when the waitress asked if we wanted dessert and we said, OF COURSE, we were disappointed when we waited and waited, only to get our check.
I'd like to think it was a fluke night, because I love the food in that place and the wait staff is generally wonderful and on top of their game.
All in all, I will definitely be going back!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite restaurantsOne of my favorite restaurants in Boston. The food is consistently wonderful with a dazzling interplay of flavors, colors and textures. Even converted my dining partner to tofu after eating the spicy silky tofu. This is a place you go to eat. The ambiance is casual, tables a bit close together but the excellence of the food surpasses everything.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. I had high expectationsGreat food. I had high expectations and it exceeded it.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA South End MustVery accommodating to dietary restrictions. Staff here is FABULOUS!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI think there is a legitimateI think there is a legitimate case to be made that this is the best restaurant in the city. Obviously there are fancier and more expensive places, with more elaborate decor, etc., but when you dig back at the essential core of what a restaurant is-- the food-- every time I've been here (10 or so) and tried almost every dish, each one is outstanding, there are no boring fillers on the menu, there is no dish that isn't special in its taste, seasoning or preparation. Bravo!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is wonderful! TheThis place is wonderful! The food is incredible with extremely reaonable prices. I have been there a dozen times and have not ever been disappointed. The service is also superior. It is one of my favorite paces to eat in Boston. Make sure to make reservation if you want yo sit at a table, this place is in high demand. It is one of the reasons I love living in Boston, to have such convenient and awesome place to eat. If you get a chance, try one of her cafe, Flowers, for awesome dessert. You won't be dissappointed!Myers and Chang are geneous. I hope they don't ever change a thing about it.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAdventurous tastes. GreatAdventurous tastes. Great mix of Asian influences. Very affordable. Highly recommended!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMyers and Chang only gets better! For no particular reason, we had not visited Myers and Chang for several months and so I was a little surprised by how spectacular this restaurant really is. The dishes are original, varied, brightly delicious, and nicely presented. The wait staff is young, well-informed, and friendly. And the chef, Karen Akunowicz, radiates good will and culinary competence. For anyone who has not had the pleasure, Myers and Chang will provide a startling and delightful extension of what you thought you knew about Asian food. For returning customers, Myers and Chang only gets better.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, a good experience.Overall, a good experience. As is all too often the case, the small plates were more interesting and daring than the large plates. We loved the dumplings and octopus salad that started the meal, but of our main courses, only one (a duck fried rice special) stood out.
The lamb belly was one-dimensional and lacking zip and brightness; the lamb belly meat itself, usually gloriously fatty, was dry, possibly because it was overcooked. The salmon was well-prepared but plated in a confusing way, with discs of ginger that scanned as slices of fingerling potato...until I put one in my mouth to experience the worst bite of the evening.
The staff is great and the space is nice, so I'll be back to see whether I can have a better food experience.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMHip, fun, small platesFun ambiance, great music, decent food (not going to wow you but good and fit for sharing -- small plates style).3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the tripOne of the very few restaurants in the South End worth finding parking for, we love trying everything on the menu. Especially the Dan Dan Noodles and the Brussel Sprouts (and I never thought I would ever say that I love Brussel Sprouts). The Dim Sum style menu on Weekend Brunch is perfect for sharing and it's easy to accomodate "veg, gluten free, dairy free" people and have the meal still be great. The staff is so friendly and helpful- we can't say enough good things.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe LovemThis Place!Another visit to Myers and Chang! Love- love- love the Charred Wok Udon Noodles with chicken among other things.
Always a warm welcome, great service.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
