M.Y. China - SFWe went for Mother's day andWe went for Mother's day and it was entertaining to watch them make the noodles and the food was great. Best Peking duck service ever!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful restaurant- fresh foodWe had the M.Y. China dim sum basket, truffle xiao long bao, pork belly sliders, beijing noodles, fried squid-all good- just forgot to get the Bejing duck- saw someone else with the duck and will get that next time.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceMy husband and I came to have lunch at M.Y. China on Mother's Day. We have made a reservation at 12:00 but as you know, many restaurant would let you stand and wait for at least 5-10 minutes to sit down even though you have a reservation. But to my surprise, M.Y. China takes us to our table without waiting. That already gives me a very good impression about time management of this restaurant. Then, the service and good are great too. We will definitely come back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMM.Y. China - Great FoodI went for dinner on a Friday. It's always good to make a reservation on a Friday. We arrived early and they were able to accommodate us early plus 1 additional guest. Service was quick and good. Food was outstanding.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMust go back!Came to MY China for lunch on a Tuesday to celebrate a co-workers birthday. There were 7 in our group. Was greeted and seated promptly. Restaurant is very elegant and service was very good. We ordered a number of dishes and shared them family style. All the dishes were excellent. Highly recommend the beef pulled noodles in soup, wild boar dumplings, wild boar scissor cut noodles, mushu pork tacos, shui mai, crispy roast chicken, and the pork and crab dumplings. Prices are a bit on the high side, but well worth it. Looking forward to returning in the near future to try some of the other dishes.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat noodle placeWe had tried 3 different noodle dishes, all of them were great!!!
Great dessert especially the purple Yam w/ ice cream.
Pls try not to miss it!!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunchWe started our vacation at M.Y. Chinese and was not disappointed. The seafood dumplings were a great choice for appetizer. We also had the crispy honey chicken and would definitely reccommend it. Staff was very friendly and provided great service!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOur third visit since theyOur third visit since they opened. It is now in regular rotation of our favorites in the DT - SF area. Even a go-to for Chinese. They have managed to maintain the consistency of their dishes so far. Hooray!! The flavors are very rich and complex. Soooooooooooo good. Be adventuresome. The pork and truffle dumplings are very special - the flavors in the filling are really special.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good as AlwaysShiu mai and spicy seafood dumplings are never to be missed.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTrue Chinese in a welcoming settingReally fun Chinese food from a well-regarded chef. We came in one night and split a variety of dishes and all were very tasty, from the juicy dumplings, to the longevity noodles, to the garlic pea shoots, to the desserts. All of that was accompanied by a fun Barbera d'Alba from Batasiolo.
Excellent night.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice ....as we eat ChineseVery nice ....as we eat Chinese food often this take was great. Would return as the rest of the group agreed.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh food, great portion, SF priceHad a lunch here. The food was tasty, good portion&fresh. Loved their chicken kanpao. The fried peppers that weren't hot and gave great crunch to the dish. The texture was almost like rice crackers. Lots of meaty white chicken meat. Very happy about that. They weren't skimping on the meat and came with lots of veggies too. Extra charge for a small bowl of jasmine rice for $2. The rice was a bit on dry side. Although that could be just the character of jasmine rice. We also ordered the dim sum combo. They were pretty much the standard dim sum, the shrimp dumplings had three shrimp bites in each and were very good. I loved the sauce that came with it. The price is standard sf. It's not a cheap Chinese food but they were fresh food.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLoving my new fav Chinese in SF!I have now been to MY China about 3 times for lunch and 3 times for dinner. The restaurant is really great and very consistent I must say. What I have been loving lately is ordering things from the menu that I would normally not have gotten like the lobster. While it is super expensive ($50+ for 3 pound live lobster), I was blown away by the amazing flavors of this dish. I have never had lobster like that before and now find myself wanting to go back craving that dish like I do the Wild boar noodles. I cannot think of another place outside of China where the kitchen team shows you exactly how they are hand making the noodles.
On my next trip i think i would like to sit at the counters next to the noodle pullers. My new fav!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMnoodles under the dome!Though it's in the SF Center, the upper level 'dome' localtion feels like being in a spectacular architectural landmark-the old Emporium dome above. We sat in a table near the noodle-maker station- fun to watch as you eat and enjoy.
And the house-made noodles are excellent- Hong Kong style- crispy, with a rich sauce, mushrooms, and chicken; Dan Dan noodles, a specialty.
I also tried iced lychee tea, a nice alterntive to black tea.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe chef who pulled the noodlesThe chef who pulled the noodles and came to demo at our table made the entire experience worthwhile. He was fantastic!!!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved watching the open kitchen!Loved watching the open kitchen! My daughter enjoyed seeing the kitchen staff hand pull and scissor cut noodles. The kitchen staff is so friendly and engaging. They greeted us and explained what was happening at each prep station. The only point that kept the experience from being outstanding was the waitstaff. It would have been great if they could wipe the table between courses and fill water. Also we had requested rice and it never came, so we ended up asking again and waiting again for a period of time. Otherwise, the interesting menu and lovely chefs and kitchen staff were wonderful!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great time. The cocktailsHad a great time. The cocktails were good. There were 3 of us and we had the Bang Bang Chicken wings, Egg rolls, stir fried noodles, 5 spice ribs and sauteed green beans. All were decent portioned and we were stuffed.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSituated in a mall, MY ChinaSituated in a mall, MY China exceeds the expectations of "mall food". I've been here twice-once for dinner and once for brunch. Service, while spotty on the first visit a while ago, had greatly improved in my second visit. Dim sum is definitely worth it here--super fresh and tasty. Best seat in the house is at the noodle bar.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time atThis was our second time at M.Y. China and we loved it all over again. The food is great, the waitpersons terrific and the Buddhas are beautiful.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome girl's night for 8Awesome girl's night for 8 of us. Deliscious food!! Martin Yan even paid us a visit and took pics with us... If Yan can you Can!!
My friends were all pleased with our whole dinner experience!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMYan can cook! Fantastic wildYan can cook! Fantastic wild boar noodle soup I am still dreaming about with meat that melts in your tongue. Excellent and win, shrimp dim sum. Buttery good mushrooms that hook you on Yan. Plus, our server Amber made our meal delightful and adapted the menu to our sensitivities. Can't wait to return!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice food options. Great ambiance.Nice food options. Great ambiance. Good price options.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server Carlos was amazing-aOur server Carlos was amazing-a real first rate experience.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMReally good and reasonablyReally good and reasonably priced fancy mall food. A little salty, though.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAsked for a more solitaryAsked for a more solitary table on the perimeter of the big room and got it with a smile. Waiter was very pleasant, did not rush us and helped in our decisions as this was our fight visit. Everything was delicious - we ordered too much for two, but enjoyed every bite. All tasty without being too salty, noodles with a bite, nothing gooey, undercooked or overdone. Boar meat noodles was delicious and would have fed six, so be warned if you do not like large portions (wha?)
No long waits as at other popular dim sum places in the City. Of course, there are no carts that roll by but menu is just right.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's really nice to have theIt's really nice to have the option of sitting "outside", which is really in the mall. It almost feels like being outdoors plus the dome is so lovely.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second visitThis was our second visit to M.Y. China and we will return. The food is wonderfully fresh and vibrant, the cocktails inventive and fun, and the nearby shopping irresistible!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCurvyfoodieI enjoyed the wonderful authentic Chinese food served at M.Y. China. The price point and quality of food is just perfect for a night out. Enough food for two and great ambiance. The servers were very knowledgeable with the cocktails and food. I had a reservation and was going to be there late but I called ahead to let them know, they were very friendly and more than happy to accommodate. I will bring more people here every chance I get.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was amazing, theEverything was amazing, the waiters could of been a little more personable but over all great experience.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as alwaysShumai, spicy seafood dumplings and wild boar cut noodles are fabulous. Bok choy with salted fish only so-so3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is reallyThis restaurant is really a hit. We've been several times and the menu is always being updated and changed with some of the favorites from past dining experience still on the menu. It's a challenge to no over-order since there are so many wonderful choices from which to choose.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved this place. The foodI loved this place. The food was outstanding, the drinks superb, somewhat expensive (drinks) but worth it. I will most definatly be going back3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best way to experienceThe best way to experience the food is to do family style and order various dishes and share it with friends.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe selection is awesome andThe selection is awesome and you can't go wrong with any selection you make. The Dim Sum option gives you a chance to try a sampling. You really should go with a few friends and plan to share so you can sample more dishes. Noodle dishes are especially good.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Martin Yan maintainsChef Martin Yan maintains high expectations for his staff in both food preparation and customer service. The food is consistently delicious and well prepared. The seafood and chicken is cooked perfectly every time I've eaten there. Atmosphere is energetic, especially when Martin Yan is in the building and the chefs put on a show with stretching noodles blindfolded. M.Y. China is a treat and not your average Chinese food restaurant.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service, butGreat food and service, but if you want to see the noodle-pulling (which is why we went!) sit at the noodle bar area.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for families Sunday nightI brought my family in on Sunday night for dinner. My kids, aged 12-19, are pretty difficult to all please with meal choices but we can all agree on Chinese. MY CHina has become a favorite of theirs as there is a lot to find that is really delicious for everyone's need. We ordered a dozen dishes to share, small and large plates , and they were all excellent. The mu shu tacos are inventive and delicious. The roasted chicken is simply but perfectly prepared. I love the flavor of the dish, we ordered half order but we should have ordered a full order since half was not enough. Soups were just ok but all the other dishes like Kung pao chicken and the glazed shrimp were the best one can find in SF.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI saw them on tv: I just likedI saw them on tv: I just liked the idea of the open kitchen! The food was amazing! Also for the quality and the service (and therefore that it is at market and powell the prices were quite fair!!!
You have to try the spare ribs!!! AWESOME... Chicken with cinnamon, salt...uuhhhh. We had 6 different dishes, I loved all of them!3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding AgainEverything went perfect for our group of four - every dish was special, starting with spicy seafood dumplings, Wow!2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as dining in Hong KongI travel to Hong Kong several times a year and when I return to the states, I almost always find it tough to find Chinese restaurants that can match the combination of authentic but contemporary tasting food, solid service and gorgeously appointed dining rooms. MY China has come as close as any restaurant. I have eaten at in San Francisco. Noodles are the star here followed by very good dim sum. Wok entrees are solid but the small plates really shine. I always try to get the bank bang chicken and crispy tofu. Salads are surprisingly good too, which my wife had when we went for lunch. I used the elevator on the ground floor of Westfield to get to the 4th floor, to avoid the hustle and bustle of the shopping mall. I recommend this place!2/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable AgainUsual excellent selection of teas, dim sum combo and black ink noodles. Papaya salad could have used more papaya, not just a few strands.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific, authentic placeWorking down the street, Martin's new place has become an every other week lunch treat. On this occasion I came on a Tuesday evening and was amazed to see a full dining room. In a shopping mall on a weekday night? Guess others are finding out about this place. Ordered the mu shu pork tacos (delicious but a bit chewy versus last time), bang bang chicken -wow, addicting, the wild boar noodles - awesome and easily enough for two people so only order one dish, and the steak off the special New Years menu - yummy, they should keep this permanently. Service is much improved since the opening weeks though they could still use a bit more polish to match the modern decor. But overall, I think the best Chinese restaurant experience in SF.2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWow, this was our first timeWow, this was our first time here since it opened and we'll be returning often. The food is incredible (and fresh), the cocktails inventive and the wait staff helpful and accommodating. It's a great addition to the San Francisco dining scene!2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great new way toThis is a great new way to enjoy Chinese food that is authetic for those who are not fluent in the Chinese culture. And what a wine list! So unusual!1/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLove MY China more each timeI am starting to love this new place more and more each time I visit. I just had my third lunch there since it opened a couple of months ago. I work a block away so the walk to Westfield and the fourth floor under the dome is pretty convenient. Every time I go, I have been challengingly myself to order something different from the menu. To date, the hands down winners are the pork belly sliders, the honey glazed walnut shrimp (best I've ever had), roasted chicken and the pea shoots. Lots of people I have gone with love the hand pulled noodles but since I am not a noodle person, I cannot comment. I give the vibe and decor in the place an A+.1/16/2013 12:00:00 AMCool Noodle Pulling & Dim Sim show!Treated my family to dim sum brunch and wanted something different than the standard Yank Sing. I had heard so much about the new restaurant over the last year that I decided to give It a try, despite the mall location. Ive watched Martin for years on TV and like his fun, style. I was very pleasantly surprised, not only by the great dim sum my family enjoyed, (which I expected since The waiter told me that Martin teamed up with the guy that owns my all time favorite in Daly City, Koi Palace), but the design of this restaurant is very modern and über cool. The Kung Pao crab & the longevity noodles for my veggie wife were big hits. The big surprise: an open kitchen where they hand pull noodles like a culinary show live!12/16/2012 12:00:00 AMMartin Yan's (Yan Can Cook)Martin Yan's (Yan Can Cook) foray into shopping mall restaurant dining is a fairly successful venture. Glossy finishes, open kitchen (with noodle pulling demos!) and a location within Westfield San Francisco may not quite justify some exorbitant prices (Salt and Pepper Calamari were quite tasty but stingy at $8 for about 9 bite-sized slices), but other dishes such as Wild Boar Scissor Cut Noodles were a winner, with complex flavours and the requisite breath of the wok. Atmosphere can be boisterous but service is attentive.12/15/2012 12:00:00 AMFirst visit to the restaurant,First visit to the restaurant, on a Monday night before hitting the movie theater. Service was terrific. Shared small plates with a friend. The Mu Shu pork tacos were so very good, as were the Wild Boar lettuce cups. The wheat pot-stickers didn't work for me, tasted off somehow. The spring rolls were good, but not great. Still, we were impressed by the terrific service. I'm definitely going back to try other dishes.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
