M.Y. China - SFGreat Chinese food servedGreat Chinese food served hot and fresh - a bit pricey but the portions are good sized and the quality is well worth the price.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing view at the noodleAmazing view at the noodle bar and impeccable service with multiple servers constantly checking on us.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNott Your Average Mall RestaurantIt's always a treat to eat at M.Y. China and we like it so much we don't even bother to shop in the mall now. The dim sum is very fresh and exciting and the hand pulled noodles are wonderful. Plus, a full line of inventive cocktails at hand. It truly is comfort food and drink.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA little bit pricy, but theA little bit pricy, but the food is good..nice setting and excellent service.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOrder the duckDon't skip the numerous dim sum options. They are all great. The duck should not be missed. The service was excellent and our waitress Amber helped us choose entrees that the whole table enjoyed sharing. If you go once, you'll be back.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale Chinese FoodWe thought M.Y. China would just be another San Francisco Chinese restaurant, since we have so many but were surprised. Most of our San Francisco Chinese restaurants are cheaper eats but M.Y. China elevates the level and quality of dining. Every thing was fresh and presented well and most importantly tasted really good. For example the siu mai had morrells on top. We also ordered other dim sum as well, a noodle dish and walnut shrimp. We were expecting the usual mayonaissy taste but were surprised it had a little kick maybe mustard very pleasantly surprised. As for the staff very polite, attentive and helpful. A big plus Martin Yan was in the house. He could not have been nicer. Yes, we will be back with more friends.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGoodEnjoyed MY China with high school age children who are into noodles. Fun to watch noodle making in action. Beef with noodle soup was very good, mildly spicy. Don't order chicken with crispy noodles - bland and not the noodles they are known for. Szechwan greenbeans were very good. Restaurant is a little loud.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and entertainment to bootWent with a group and found out that Martin Yan was in the house that night. Not only was the food very good and had unique items on the menu that we have not seen elsewhere, but the Chef stopped by our table several times to chat and also did some demonstrations with his staff and invited everyone to watch. Martin Yan was very approachable and friendly. Definitely a great experience!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a fun place to goThis was a fun place to go with a teenager. It was nice, but not stuffy. Service was friendly and eficient. It was nicer than the usual places we frequent, so it made it special without it being too expensive (although it wast less food than if you went to a regualr dim sum place). We and we both liked the food. I especially enjoyed watching the chef make the noodles. Afterward we strolled around the mall.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPre Concert DiningLovely dinner with a noodle tossing floorshow. The dinner was very tasty - dim sum assortment, boar with scissor cut noodles and lobster in butter and garlic. Good wine selection to complement the meal. And the sugary puffs were divine. Great attentive service and made sure we left in time for our show.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFun spot! The food was overall excellent and done with care. Service slowed down but was very attentive we had a huge group. Easy access by Bart. Wish open later!!!It was a lively place great to be able to watch the cooking.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDining in the CityClose to BART, easy to access, fast seating, great service, tasty food. Reservations on their website is the way to go. Food portions are generous and you have the choice of mineral or still water. Great place to dine if you are heading for the concerts or theaters on Market Street.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe slow simmered rib eyeThe slow simmered rib eye (beef) hand pulled noodle & kung pao chicken are excellent!
AND try not to miss the dessert Purple yam (dinner only)...........Yummy!!!!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMReal Chinese CuisineVery authentic Chinese flavors; not those westernized Chinese restaurants. Chinese people will love it, Caucasians who "love Asian food" will hate it5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat eats for shoppersVery relaxing atmosphere, zen like decor and music. Food is fresh and tasty. Every dish has great presentation. A wonderful choice of place to eat before or after shopping at the Westfield mall.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodWhile the mall noise can be a bit distracting, the food is well worth it. Try the pork tacos and wok sear filet - yum5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to this restaurant forWent to this restaurant for lunch with a business colleague. I would categorize the prices as "high end of reasonable". Food was quite good. Service very nice. I'll go back.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for young foodiesM.Y. China is a great place to bring your kids; especially if they are interested in trying different foods. We ordered a "safe" dish (sweet and sour pork) just in case, but my kids (4 1/2 & 8 years) demolished the wild boar and squid ink noodle dishes. Needless to say, the food did not disappoint. The sweet and sour was good, but nothing to write home about (that was the only dish for which we had leftovers). The 2 noodle dishes we ordered were spectacular, with perfect noodle texture. The food was less salty that typical Chinese restaurants, though we were all still quite thirsty by the time we got home. The only negative was that the food was a little greasy, but overall, we had an excellent, kid-friendly dining experience.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest new Chinese restaurant in SFMy group ordered the ginger lobster and Kung pao crab dishes to celebrate. Wow. Chinese or not, this could be some of the best seafood preparation on crustaceans I've ever enjoyed. Love the complimentary sparkling water, their specialty cocktails that we had like Nixon's Visit and Under the Bronze Buddha were really unique and tasty. We sat in the noodle making part of the dining room. The tables which I guess can move on a rail were a bit too close to other parties but hey, it was a weekend night And I guess we were part of a party scene! Servers are surprisingly knowledgeable about the food - we peppered them with tough questions and she (amber I think) was pretty confident in educating us. I will be back again and again. Cool!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for Mother's day andWe went for Mother's day and it was entertaining to watch them make the noodles and the food was great. Best Peking duck service ever!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful restaurant- fresh foodWe had the M.Y. China dim sum basket, truffle xiao long bao, pork belly sliders, beijing noodles, fried squid-all good- just forgot to get the Bejing duck- saw someone else with the duck and will get that next time.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceMy husband and I came to have lunch at M.Y. China on Mother's Day. We have made a reservation at 12:00 but as you know, many restaurant would let you stand and wait for at least 5-10 minutes to sit down even though you have a reservation. But to my surprise, M.Y. China takes us to our table without waiting. That already gives me a very good impression about time management of this restaurant. Then, the service and good are great too. We will definitely come back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMM.Y. China - Great FoodI went for dinner on a Friday. It's always good to make a reservation on a Friday. We arrived early and they were able to accommodate us early plus 1 additional guest. Service was quick and good. Food was outstanding.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is totally amazing. The food is totally amazing. Second time here and the food is awesome! The service, however, needs tweaking. but the manager was very peranable and friendly. I did enjoy the one-on-one attention we received when he came by to ask how we were doing. I highly recommend just about everything on the menu!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMust go back!Came to MY China for lunch on a Tuesday to celebrate a co-workers birthday. There were 7 in our group. Was greeted and seated promptly. Restaurant is very elegant and service was very good. We ordered a number of dishes and shared them family style. All the dishes were excellent. Highly recommend the beef pulled noodles in soup, wild boar dumplings, wild boar scissor cut noodles, mushu pork tacos, shui mai, crispy roast chicken, and the pork and crab dumplings. Prices are a bit on the high side, but well worth it. Looking forward to returning in the near future to try some of the other dishes.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally, Great Chinese for EveryoneUsed to be, to eat great Chinese one has to patronize typical Chinese restaurants that cater mainly to Chinese folks. With M.Y. China that's no longer the case. This restaurant brings fine authentic Chinese cooking to the mainstream dining scene. It succeeds in attracting both Chinese who shun Americanized Chinese cooking, and non-Chinese who are not comfortable eating in typical Chinese restos. There is good balance of yin and yang here.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat noodle placeWe had tried 3 different noodle dishes, all of them were great!!!
Great dessert especially the purple Yam w/ ice cream.
Pls try not to miss it!!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunchWe started our vacation at M.Y. Chinese and was not disappointed. The seafood dumplings were a great choice for appetizer. We also had the crispy honey chicken and would definitely reccommend it. Staff was very friendly and provided great service!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOur third visit since theyOur third visit since they opened. It is now in regular rotation of our favorites in the DT - SF area. Even a go-to for Chinese. They have managed to maintain the consistency of their dishes so far. Hooray!! The flavors are very rich and complex. Soooooooooooo good. Be adventuresome. The pork and truffle dumplings are very special - the flavors in the filling are really special.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good as AlwaysShiu mai and spicy seafood dumplings are never to be missed.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTrue Chinese in a welcoming settingReally fun Chinese food from a well-regarded chef. We came in one night and split a variety of dishes and all were very tasty, from the juicy dumplings, to the longevity noodles, to the garlic pea shoots, to the desserts. All of that was accompanied by a fun Barbera d'Alba from Batasiolo.
Excellent night.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice ....as we eat ChineseVery nice ....as we eat Chinese food often this take was great. Would return as the rest of the group agreed.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh food, great portion, SF priceHad a lunch here. The food was tasty, good portion&fresh. Loved their chicken kanpao. The fried peppers that weren't hot and gave great crunch to the dish. The texture was almost like rice crackers. Lots of meaty white chicken meat. Very happy about that. They weren't skimping on the meat and came with lots of veggies too. Extra charge for a small bowl of jasmine rice for $2. The rice was a bit on dry side. Although that could be just the character of jasmine rice. We also ordered the dim sum combo. They were pretty much the standard dim sum, the shrimp dumplings had three shrimp bites in each and were very good. I loved the sauce that came with it. The price is standard sf. It's not a cheap Chinese food but they were fresh food.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLoving my new fav Chinese in SF!I have now been to MY China about 3 times for lunch and 3 times for dinner. The restaurant is really great and very consistent I must say. What I have been loving lately is ordering things from the menu that I would normally not have gotten like the lobster. While it is super expensive ($50+ for 3 pound live lobster), I was blown away by the amazing flavors of this dish. I have never had lobster like that before and now find myself wanting to go back craving that dish like I do the Wild boar noodles. I cannot think of another place outside of China where the kitchen team shows you exactly how they are hand making the noodles.
On my next trip i think i would like to sit at the counters next to the noodle pullers. My new fav!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMnoodles under the dome!Though it's in the SF Center, the upper level 'dome' localtion feels like being in a spectacular architectural landmark-the old Emporium dome above. We sat in a table near the noodle-maker station- fun to watch as you eat and enjoy.
And the house-made noodles are excellent- Hong Kong style- crispy, with a rich sauce, mushrooms, and chicken; Dan Dan noodles, a specialty.
I also tried iced lychee tea, a nice alterntive to black tea.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved watching the open kitchen!Loved watching the open kitchen! My daughter enjoyed seeing the kitchen staff hand pull and scissor cut noodles. The kitchen staff is so friendly and engaging. They greeted us and explained what was happening at each prep station. The only point that kept the experience from being outstanding was the waitstaff. It would have been great if they could wipe the table between courses and fill water. Also we had requested rice and it never came, so we ended up asking again and waiting again for a period of time. Otherwise, the interesting menu and lovely chefs and kitchen staff were wonderful!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great time. The cocktailsHad a great time. The cocktails were good. There were 3 of us and we had the Bang Bang Chicken wings, Egg rolls, stir fried noodles, 5 spice ribs and sauteed green beans. All were decent portioned and we were stuffed.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSituated in a mall, MY ChinaSituated in a mall, MY China exceeds the expectations of "mall food". I've been here twice-once for dinner and once for brunch. Service, while spotty on the first visit a while ago, had greatly improved in my second visit. Dim sum is definitely worth it here--super fresh and tasty. Best seat in the house is at the noodle bar.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time atThis was our second time at M.Y. China and we loved it all over again. The food is great, the waitpersons terrific and the Buddhas are beautiful.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome girl's night for 8Awesome girl's night for 8 of us. Deliscious food!! Martin Yan even paid us a visit and took pics with us... If Yan can you Can!!
My friends were all pleased with our whole dinner experience!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMYan can cook! Fantastic wildYan can cook! Fantastic wild boar noodle soup I am still dreaming about with meat that melts in your tongue. Excellent and win, shrimp dim sum. Buttery good mushrooms that hook you on Yan. A little salty, though.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAsked for a more solitaryAsked for a more solitary table on the perimeter of the big room and got it with a smile. Waiter was very pleasant, did not rush us and helped in our decisions as this was our fight visit. Everything was delicious - we ordered too much for two, but enjoyed every bite. All tasty without being too salty, noodles with a bite, nothing gooey, undercooked or overdone. Boar meat noodles was delicious and would have fed six, so be warned if you do not like large portions (wha?)
No long waits as at other popular dim sum places in the City. Of course, there are no carts that roll by but menu is just right.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's really nice to have theIt's really nice to have the option of sitting "outside", which is really in the mall. It almost feels like being outdoors plus the dome is so lovely.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second visitThis was our second visit to M.Y. China and we will return. The food is wonderfully fresh and vibrant, the cocktails inventive and fun, and the nearby shopping irresistible!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCurvyfoodieI enjoyed the wonderful authentic Chinese food served at M.Y. China. The price point and quality of food is just perfect for a night out. Enough food for two and great ambiance. The servers were very knowledgeable with the cocktails and food. I had a reservation and was going to be there late but I called ahead to let them know, they were very friendly and more than happy to accommodate. I will bring more people here every chance I get.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was amazing, theEverything was amazing, the waiters could of been a little more personable but over all great experience.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as alwaysShumai, spicy seafood dumplings and wild boar cut noodles are fabulous.
