Diner Reviews
  • "I had the three course luncheon for $25. What a delicious deal!"

  • "The food quality is not as good as expected coming from M.Y. It is more for typical non-Asian diners."
    Dined on 4/3/2014
  • "Had the venison chow fun - the venison was cut in chunks & thought it would have been better if sliced thin, like flank steak usually is. Also found the chow fun to be oily. Won't order this again. However, the menu was intriguing and I will give the restaurant another try."

  • "We loved all of the food here. The service was very good even though it was a very crowded evening. It's on the pricier side but worth it for a special night out."

  • "The restaurant has a very welcoming atmosphere. It was quite full and we noticed it accommodates different crowds - there are spots in front of the kitchen, where you can see the preparation of food (and noodle pulling!) there is a round "bar" and tall tables in one room and in another room there is a huge open space with tables, maybe better for families. Food was amazing (noodles, ribs, bok choy), except for the dessert. We ordered a lychee panna cotta which was not good at all in terms of presentation and taste. All in all we would go back and recommend it for sure."

  • "Each dish we had was well prepared and very good. Service was attentive and timely and any questions were answered and food changes made without question.....and the rotunda area is just stunning"

  • "I loved how MY China didn't give our table away for being late. Although I was there on time, the rest of my party were 15-20 minutes late. They gave us some time to get our party together, and we liked that. The food was fantastic, service was great (we got the Asian guy, he was courteous and funny). Would go back and would recommend to a friend."

  • "I love Martin Chan & Yan Can Cook, was a favorite, since I was 7years old. Now in my 30's with my 2 kids, we had a blast. Our server CARA was excellent and ready with a smile. Also the rest of the Hispanic crew from 4/1/14 lunch time were to schedule with clearing what needed to be taken out of our table. The service is EXCELLENT! The Food AMAZING!! Presentation of tea service, dimsum, noodle bowls, main courses and dessert were more than expected. The Dessert: Lychee Panacotta was the most superb finale to this Chinese Feast. I can't wait for the next special occasion or Birthday to go again. My only regret was not ordering something from Martin's Lobster Menu.;)"

  • "The food is expensive for the quantity and quality you get. Wait staff is not attentive enough for water service."
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "The menu items sounded good but the quality of food did not measure up to our expectations. We had hoped for a true taste of China but found the food too Americanized for our palate. However, it would be a good place to take a break from shopping and we heard that there are often hand-pulled noodle making demonstrations on Friday and Saturday night if you happen to be eating there. The seating in the front still feels like you are in a shopping mall but the seats in the back give more of private and typical restaurant feel."

  • "Loved the vegetarian food on the menu but unfortunately I have had the same dishes the last five times I have been there. Just a few more veg dishes on the menu are needed. Dhimant"

  • "The presentations of M.Y. China will provider dinners with a uniquely exquisite culinary experience that is so far beyond "the cut above." We are slowly "eating and devouring" our way down the entire menu and can heartily endorse every single item while singling out Peking Duck and the dessert Sugar Puffs for a standing ovation (and many repetitious encores)! If one has the opportunity to try any of the prix fixe lunches or dinners our advice is, "Go For It!" We have never been disappointed. Jardiniere was once the monthly dining star of our tummies - it has been displaced by the amazing M.Y. China."

  • "great service!!!! my party came at 30 minutes late and they never cancelled the reservation. when the rest of the party arrived, they were very nice to seat us right away. I was very happy and pleased how attentive our server was"

  • "We were given a seat outside facing the mall. Really like the seating. Given so, noise level was lower."

  • "M. M, China is a San Francisco gem in an unlikely setting--the Westfield Center. The interior is graceful, beautiful, and relaxing. At lunch, my friend and I were able to talk without intrusive 'music" and loud voices. The food is subtle and delicious. The chef isn't trying to show off, just subtly blend interesting flavors. If you want "Yuppie" food, a tribute to the chef's creativity, not to your enjoyment, this is not the place for you. But if you enjoy Chinese food, deliciously prepared in a creative way, this is a wonderful place. Even staples, like hot and sour soup, had a slightly different and very pleasing taste. All was wonderful."

  • "We had such a great time at M.Y. China for my husband's birthday. We wanted to try their hand pulled noodles and it was not a disappointment. Chef Tony Wu was very friendly and even did a hand pulled noodle performance for us! We are Chinese and we must say that the food is very authentic and was not watered down for Western taste despite its location. Very delightfully surprised. Will definitely be back next time we are shopping in downtown."

  • "My friend and I had dinner recently and the food is decent, not outstanding. Service is fine, could be better."

  • "The black squid noodle dish was superb - bravo! Once again, this restaurant delivers really wonderful food."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Our server was friendly and well educated about the entire menu and offered informed suggestions. We enjoyed watching noodles being prepared, a wonderful show that we didn't need to travel to Hong Kong or China to experience again. Food is very well prepared and clean tasting, served in a beautiful space. The tea, Pu erh was excellent. You can certainly find cheaper Chinese food in the Bay Area but few to none offer this quality dining experience."

  • "I was absolutely floored by the authenticity of the food served and the quality of the ingredients. I would definitely come back with my friends."

  • "MY China is one of the best spots for house made noodles. Squid ink noodles with seafood outstanding!!"
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "One would have expected a decent Chinese meal from a chef who has been fun to watch on TV. The food is unimaginative and forgettable and not worth half the price. The crispy roasted squab, a sad little thing turned on its back on a large plate with a couple of greens. Shrimp salad, a few well fried shrimp on tasteless greens, lacking enough dressing and with equally shredded "Papaya" white as a radish. Save your money!"

  • "We had excellent Cantonese style food was variable traces of spiciness levels that was prepared promptly and deliciously we loved it and would happily go back again"
    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • "In the Westfield Mall, one floor down from the Century Theatre, M.Y. China is a great spot for drinks and dinner. The food is worth going back for, and the service is consistently very good, but we seem to have struck gold with the wine selection. It's a great spot for a drink, and a bite to eat before heading upstairs to see a movie."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "This Chinese restaurant is one of my favorite go to places for a quick but casually elegant lunch meeting. The service is always attentive and the food is spot on consistent. With rare exceptions do my favorites like scissor cut boar noodles or the roasted chicken ever ever from perfection. I would like to see more seasonal flavors on the menu since I visit at least once a month with business clients but in all, there is plenty on the menu not to get too bored. I really like the unpretentious vibe of MYCHina."

  • "First impressions were good, service was very good, and the menu looked impressive. We were ready to be wow and awe by the food, but when it arrived the food was underwhelming. The wok sheared quail should have been describe as a small dish. The venison chow fun was mushy and the venison tasteless and soft. The Kobe beef medallions was overly marinated, cut up and stir fried and tasted spoiled or old. We return it and the remade dish was better but not by much. For a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco just OK, but the bar scene looks like the place to be. Having a craving for Chinese food this restaurant will not be on my list."

  • "Enjoyed the food and the energy of the location. Nice eating in the plaza and being able to watch the people go by. The food was very good and different that the usual Chinese fare. The noodle were great and enjoyed watching the "throwing" of the noodles by the staff. The Peking duck and the walnut shrimp were outstanding as was the dessert. Reasonable wine list was a pleasant surprise as well."

  • "This has to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in town. Don't get put off by the fact that is in a shopping mall. This was about our 5th visit and every bit as good as when we went during its opening month. The noodles are a must. We tried 3 different kinds and all were excellent but the beef noodle soup remains a favorite. The broth is just so dense and intense with flavor and the meat so tender."

  • "Once again, this restaurant delivers with really wonderful choices for lunch with 2 prix-fixe menu options that take some of the guessing out of what to order."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "This restaurant provides memorable culinary experiences that will linger in memory long after the last delicious morsel has caressed your taste buds and initiates a symphony punctuated with caloric crescendos. Do see if the restaurant is offering any prix fixed menus during your visit; if not, do not pass up the Peking Duck or Sugar Puff dessert. Both have a divinity that is uniquely rapturous and will lift most lucky diners into an emotional orbit of long endurance. The Scissor Cut Noodles with Wild Boar is also a standout -- and for a contented and peaceful landing, the Pearl Jasmine tea will gently escort your gastronomical ride onto a peaceful and extremely satiated landing."

  • "I was with a group attending a conference, and we wanted to have Chinese food since it was Chinese New Year. We didn't anticipate being delayed by a throng of parade goers. I called M.Y. China to let them know that we were running late, and they were very gracious. When we finally arrived about 30 minutes late, we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Dinner was delicious and we were all happy with our choices. The bathroom is co-ed, which was a surprise but really very nice. We would definitely eat here again. It is on the fourth floor of the Nordstrom shopping center."

  • "We went to M.Y. China for the second time this month and it did not disappoint. We had the same server as last time and she delivered the same attentive and energetic service again. The first time we went we had the Prosperity Lunar New Year Dinner which came with the juicy dumpling trio, duck lettuce wraps, skin-in duck sliders and longevity noodles. It was phenomenal! The second time we went had har gow, spinach seafood dumplings and roast duck sliders. They were also willing to make substitutions for our dietary restrictions without fuss. It's officially my favorite spot."

  • "This is my second time at M Y China and again I enjoyed it. I was interested in the 2 course lunch but wasn't real hip on eating wild bore. The server sugguested I subsititute chicken and it was GREAT! Good call mr server. Made my day."

  • "My first time--excellent dishes & very friendly, attentive service. My friend & I were celebrating our birthdays over lunch. I would definitely recommend."

  • "This place has great food and it also has a few good vegetarian options that are delicious. One of our group is vegan and so often is forced to settle for a throw away choice because the restaurant doesn't provide any decide vegetarian or vegan options. These were so good that the non-vegans were eating them too! We had to order more of the vegan options again! I wish they would add a few more vegan options, though, because we want to come back soon and no one wants to eat the same dish every they go to a restaurant."

  • "The noodles were good, but another place we dine has noodles equally tasty. The Shanghai buns were OK: not enough ginger threads w the vinegar. Nor were these authentic: the soup the would normally be inside the bus was in a spoon OUSIDE the bun. The vinegar was delicious: so good I drank what remained! The beef soup had FAR MORE ANISE than it needed. Finally the Portuguese custard tarts were OK: not as good as Macau, but OK."

  • "Who would expect to find gourmet food at a restaurant whose tables border what appears to be a food court in a shopping mall -- albeit an upscale mall. We were encouraged to go to M.Y. China by borderline serious foodie and we couldn't have been more pleased. The Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp and Garlic Pea Shoots earned rave reviews as did many of the other dishes. 5 Stars!!!"

  • "A guest wanted dim sum but I wanted to avoid Chinatown on the holiday so we came here. He seemed satisfied, and I enjoyed it too. The wild boar lettuce cups were outstanding!"
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "Although they were very flexible in changing my reservations, and when I arrived were greeted with smiles. The table service was slow and disappointing. The server we have seemed inexperienced and nervous or perhaps did not have enough support to ensure seamless service. I would not visit again nor would I recommend it to anyone."
