The food was disappointing. I found the quesadillas a bit heavy, the soups not particularly complex or tasty. The service was over attentive at first then nonexistent for the second half of the meal.

Every bite of this meal was fabulous! The margarita de casa was excellent. The salsas are amazing and ask for the habanero salsa as it's available only by request. This salsa is HOT but very flavorful. The taco sampler is a glimpse into the genius of Chef English.

Two of us shared the roasted pork shoulder which was very good. It's served family style and could easily feed three people as it comes with rice and beans. The fresh guacamole was some of the best I've had in a long time.

This was a situation where one entree salad was absolutely terrific (jicama) and one entree burrito bowl was not. Our server tried to make it right, but in a nearly empty restaurant at lunch, it took far too long to get a resolution. Also, we were repeatedly asked if we wanted to order agua frescas, which was just strange after we said no the first time.

Ambiance and vibe is great, food was just okay (perhaps I was expecting more with all of the hype). Service was good, but had to finally ask for the check to be dropped so we could pay. I would come back for happy hour. Very busy place and lots of energy.

Our party of three arrived on time for dinner. The waiter arrived with menus and asked for drink and appetizer orders. We quickly ordered margaritas and guacamole. The pitcher of margaritas arrived immediately and, after tasting, it was clear that it had been sitting for some time on the bar. Very watery. The guacamole did not arrive. When the waiter came back, we mentioned it and he said that it would be served soon but we should order. We ordered two main dishes and a side. The guacamole, one of the main dishes and the side were at our table within 5 minutes. The food was great but we were still hungry. The other main course never arrived. We were pushed to have dessert instead of it. We paid the check and left. Disappointing.

Good high end Mexican food. Very tasty. No rice and beans here. Service was responsive, although the greeter really did not want to be there. Walked us to our table, put down the menus almost without stopping and turned back, and it wasn't even that crowded. Service and the meal improved substantially from there, though, thankfully.

Food is actually pretty good. They are so eager to turn tables that multiple waiters keep trying to grab your plate. Noisy. WiFi was broken and 3 people said they would look into it but none ever reported back or fixed it. Cerviche was good. Small portions and expensive. Bad value. Would never go back .

I am not a fan of places which skim on the portions. I think there is a general notion that smaller portion size equate to "fancier" dining, and I am simply not someone who subscribes to that. The fact of the matter is the food quality here was pretty good, although it was by no means the best I've had. However, everything came in tiny portion sizes, so to me, that's a minus. The service was good, but the noise level was a bit too loud at times. We say at a very small table for two, and at times it was hard to hear each other speak.

MXDC is trendy and expensive, as far as Mexican restaurants go. The number of entrees seemed rather limited, but the margaritas, after some detailed instructions on my part, were excellent. I would definitely return. I have rarely encountered a waiter so eager to please, if completely lacking in self confidence and somewhat overwhelmed by his job. For whatever reason, he vanished during my meal, and the service was promptly taken over by someone else.

The portion sizes are really odd. While the 4 main entrees are appropriately sized for a main course, the tacos are still too small to be a main, yet the staff and the menu doesn't do a very good job of explaining that. This restaurant needs to double down - either you're a full plate, regular restaurant or you're a small plate eatery -- you can't have it both ways. Pacing and timing are always confused. I ordered a soup and entree, my colleague just got an entree, and his main was delivered with my soup. This is not the first time that diners at one table have eaten different courses at the same time. And no matter how expensive or fancy the Mexican restaurant is, chips & salsa should always be free and bottomless.

The menu selections offered very few options. The tacos were just right for appetizers and the only protein option for the quesadillas was seafood. The tacos were good, but not great. There was little flavor, which made the $10 and up price a bit steep.

We ordered two appetizers to share. One was a tantalizing pork belly taco bursting with flavor. We took a chance on a salad consisting of tuna, snow crab, watermelon, pickled onions, cilantro, and lime. We were literally stunned that the combination, 1) worked and 2) we really liked it. The Paella was beautiful, but not quite as tasty as we'd expected.

A group of 6 of us met at MXDC on a Sat. evening because of the reviews & the location close to a friend's hotel. Service was great & we thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried from the menu. The 6 of us shared appetizers including the lobster guacamole, the seafood quesadilla, and snapper ceviche. All tasted very fresh & were truly delicious. The same can be said for the variety of entrees we had, everyone was happy. I ordered the side of brussels sprouts and loved them. For dessert, it was churros & flan. Again, nothing but smiles from anyone. THe only complaints were about being too stuffed. Drinks were lovely as well. Great find and we will definitely be back for another get together!

I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The décor was stylish and conducive for a quite lunch or dinner. My daughter and I went for restaurant week. Everything we had was amazing. Starting with the appetizers, the Guacamole was excellent with a twist, and the Ensalada de Jicama salad was as well. I had never tasted grilled fruit before, it was light and refreshing. The pork shoulder was amazing, fork tender and very flavorful. I can't say enough about the Churros, it's the first time I ever had this desert, the Churros themselves were soft and flavorful. But, the kicker was the chocolate brandy sauce that went with them, outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone for lunch or dinner.

MXDC is a great Mexican-inspired place that has a fun and vivacious feel. Perfect for night-life. Bar is really neat and the margaritas are to die for (trust me, they make 'em strong)! However, I went for a double date and it was very loud. Loud in the way that I couldn't even hear the person sitting next to me. Also, the food was great but if you order a meat dish all you get is meat. It is literally a pile or pork shoulder or brisket! Nothing else. Which is nice that the protein steals the show, but it really has nothing else to "steal" the spotlight from. I liked it and would go back, but probably just for HH and to sit at the bar with friends. I wouldn't go back for dinner.

I took a group of five girlfriends to MXDC for dinner during Restaurant Week- Summer 2014 and was VERY impressed. The hostesses were very polite. The decor is very cool, sexy and chic. The HH scene seemed much more sophisticated and relaxed compared to their neighbors (The Hamilton). Bartenders were smiling and attentive. The noise level was fine. Once the 5th person arrived, we were seated immediately. We ordered everything on the RW menu to share. Highlights: Chips & Salsa, Guacamole, Chicken Empanada (you only get one), (Vegetarian) Paella, Mole Chicken, and the churros. Our waiter was very patient and great with the wine parings. I can't wait to come back with my parents and boyfriend. MXDC is a hidden gem and my new go-to spot.

The food was awesome and I recommend to anyone. What stuck out the most, however, was how well the staff and particularly the GM cared for my wife's dietary restrictions which are very challenging. Most other restaurants look at you confused or make guesses. These folks took control and knew exactly what they were talking about. We will return.
