We ordered two appetizers to share. One was a tantalizing pork belly taco bursting with flavor. We took a chance on a salad consisting of tuna, snow crab, watermelon, pickled onions, cilantro, and lime. We were literally stunned that the combination, 1) worked and 2) we really liked it. The Paella was beautiful, but not quite as tasty as we'd expected.

A group of 6 of us met at MXDC on a Sat. evening because of the reviews & the location close to a friend's hotel. Service was great & we thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried from the menu. The 6 of us shared appetizers including the lobster guacamole, the seafood quesadilla, and snapper ceviche. All tasted very fresh & were truly delicious. The same can be said for the variety of entrees we had, everyone was happy. I ordered the side of brussels sprouts and loved them. For dessert, it was churros & flan. Again, nothing but smiles from anyone. THe only complaints were about being too stuffed. Drinks were lovely as well. Great find and we will definitely be back for another get together!

I was so pleasantly surprised with everything about MXDC. The atmosphere, the drinks, the service, and most of all the food. Order the chile honey glazed chicken it was outstanding and the flan! This is a hidden gem and as a person on a gluten-free diet I had many options. I will definitely add this to my short list of DC favorites.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The décor was stylish and conducive for a quite lunch or dinner. My daughter and I went for restaurant week. Everything we had was amazing. Starting with the appetizers, the Guacamole was excellent with a twist, and the Ensalada de Jicama salad was as well. I had never tasted grilled fruit before, it was light and refreshing. The pork shoulder was amazing, fork tender and very flavorful. I can't say enough about the Churros, it's the first time I ever had this desert, the Churros themselves were soft and flavorful. But, the kicker was the chocolate brandy sauce that went with them, outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone for lunch or dinner.

MXDC is a great Mexican-inspired place that has a fun and vivacious feel. Perfect for night-life. Bar is really neat and the margaritas are to die for (trust me, they make 'em strong)! However, I went for a double date and it was very loud. Loud in the way that I couldn't even hear the person sitting next to me. Also, the food was great but if you order a meat dish all you get is meat. It is literally a pile or pork shoulder or brisket! Nothing else. Which is nice that the protein steals the show, but it really has nothing else to "steal" the spotlight from. I liked it and would go back, but probably just for HH and to sit at the bar with friends. I wouldn't go back for dinner.

I took a group of five girlfriends to MXDC for dinner during Restaurant Week- Summer 2014 and was VERY impressed. The hostesses were very polite. The decor is very cool, sexy and chic. The HH scene seemed much more sophisticated and relaxed compared to their neighbors (The Hamilton). Bartenders were smiling and attentive. The noise level was fine. Once the 5th person arrived, we were seated immediately. We ordered everything on the RW menu to share. Highlights: Chips & Salsa, Guacamole, Chicken Empanada (you only get one), (Vegetarian) Paella, Mole Chicken, and the churros. Our waiter was very patient and great with the wine parings. I can't wait to come back with my parents and boyfriend. MXDC is a hidden gem and my new go-to spot.

The food was awesome and I recommend to anyone. What stuck out the most, however, was how well the staff and particularly the GM cared for my wife's dietary restrictions which are very challenging. Most other restaurants look at you confused or make guesses. These folks took control and knew exactly what they were talking about. We will return.

I might have really high expectations of Mexican food...which is why I wasn't a huge fan of my experience at MXDC. It was disappointing that a Mexican restaurant, especially one that is high end, doesn't really have much variety or many options for vegetarians. It also seemed that everything we were interested in was not available, which was also frustrating. We are probably not going to go back especially since the service was average and the food wasn't that great.

I came for the cuatro queso quesadilla but had the fish as my dining companion was on a strict diet (and they were out of mole ribs). I had the rock fish and it was so delicate and well prepared. it was delicious. And the presentation was just beautiful. Great sauce with lively flavors. It was outstanding. My friend had the snapper and loved it too. She was afraid it was too good and that mean she shouldn't be eating it. lol. We will be back for seafood. And the mole ribs.

This was not our first time at MXDC, we have really enjoyed it in the past. We were taking friends that had not experienced it before. Foo was good as usual, it was quieter than most other times as it was a holiday weekend. The waiter we had was young and no other words, but very annoying. That really impacted our dining experience. The temperature in the dining room was way to warm. We asked about it and nothing seemed to be done about it. this was not a very enjoyable meal.

We went to MXDC for a late night dinner. The service was great, and they did look after the kids well as well. The food was excellent. The beef was outstanding, and so were the tacos. The ambiance is nice, and we would definitely come back to this place. We were not rushed, and even though it was late, the staff were upbeat and eager with recommendations. The desserts were loved by all. They were inhaled by the kids, so we are going to have to come back to get our own desserts some day.

This is my second time at MXDC and probably my last for a while.. Our family arrived for a late dinner on the 4th of July, but to our dismay, our waiter managed to completely confuse our order. They served drinking water that was at room temperature. We asked for cold water but it never arrived. We then ordered our food. Our kids food arrived, but ours didn't. needless to say, we were upset because we wanted to eat all together. After waiting some more, the manager arrives and asks what we wanted to eat!! it turned out that the waiter never put our ordered our food. Needless to say, we were completely bummed. It was past 11 pm by then, so we decided to leave. At least the manager was kind enough not to charge us for the kids food.

Ate at MXDC for the first time late afternoon on July 4th, before the Mall fireworks, so maybe not a fair time to critique the restaurant. Nonetheless, food was better than average, but not great or fantastic. Service was great, even with the hectic evening ... a nice surprise. Dining area was HOT and stifling (almost like no A/C or even no air movement), even though the day was only in the low 80's. The ceviche that everyone raves about was not even close to real Mexican ceviche. No lime juice tang, no kick, very little fish, pretty bland. A really BIG disappointment because we are ceviche lovers. Will give it one more try at a less chaotic time to give it a fair shake. Top 20 in the District? No. Top 50? No.

Took 45 minutes to get drinks and 1.5 hours to get food. They seemed to be very understaffed for the night we were there. Limited menu and food mediocre to poor. The Mole de Costilla appeared to missing the mole and the two ribs served were mostly bones and fat. Asked for the Grilled Avocado instead of the Carrot Kimchi on the Grilled Terres Major and were simply told "no." The Grilled Chipotle Corn on Cob was an inch long section of very overcooked corn, the teaspoon of corn on that cob was very gummy. The tacos did look good, but unfortunately we didn't order any. Probably an off night for them, but we'll not be back. Too many other great restaurants in this area.

MXDC is AMAZING! We were in town for a weekend trip for our anniversary and ate there the last night. It happened to be the restaurants first anniversary. Our waiter told the manager it was our anniversary too and came by with champagne for us to enjoy! In addition to the exceptional service, the food is delicious. You have to try the fresh guacamole! The grilled corn with chipotle butter was out of this world. We ended up finishing the meal with tres leche, best I've ever had! Make sure this restaurant is in your plans next time you are in D.C.

Outstanding venue! The quality of the food is only rivaled by the outstanding service. We had 6 food items on their menu and at least 5 varieties of their menu drinks. Plain and short, this is a phenomenal place to dine. The atmosphere and decor are impressive. Based on what we had the pleasure to taste, I'd guess the rest of the menu is equally satisfying. Honestly, we've been to a wide variety of DC restaurants (think high double digits), and this place lands in the top ten. PS- We're not tourists! This is a solid local opinion.

As we had enjoyed this place previously, we decided to book a reservation for our anniversary. The food was phenomenal and the staff was great both times. The only issue we encountered was not at the fault of MXDC, but of other diners, who though it was a good idea to bring their shrieking child (who looked about 5) and ignore him entirely while lingering over desserts. This is an upscale Mexican place, and really not for kids...even the waiter said that generally this is an adult restaurant. The kid was making a ton of noise, and the two women with him were not attentive to him at all, despite the entire restaurant glaring. We otherwise had a lovely time. Will absolutely be back.
