  • "Valet parking, beautiful view, delicious lunch, and steps away (exit the rear of hotel and across the walkway) from the Cherry Blossoms. Skip the parking nightmares and treat yourself and your visitors."

  • "Being a busy professional in D.C. , it is important to find an appropriate place for a special lunch meeting that is more refined than the food courts and eateries in the area. This location fulfilled my expectations. Besides the enjoyable ambiance of the the Mandarin hotel itself, the restaurant staff was very nice, efficient, accommodating and responsive to our requests (limited time, food needed to be served promptly, seating location, etc.). The food was delicious (seared tuna sandwich). Thank you Muse! Will be back!"

  • "I happen to catch the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom and this was the closest restaurant to the Tidal Basin in Open Table that was above 4 stars (and had seating available). The service was very good, but a little slow. The portions were adequate & nicely arranged. It was above what my company allows for meals in DC, so a bit on the pricey side. I would reserve this more for special occasions and request a window table with a view of the water."

  • "Muze only had one stellar and one bad review on Yelp - so I didn't know what to expect. We had a party of 6 for a business dinner. The service was fabulous but not intrusive. Everything we ordered was delicious. For appetizers we had the fried oysters, Kobe sliders, and ahi tuna. All were fantastic. For dinner I had their duck, which was cooked perfectly. Overall, this was a great find."

  • "I am never displeased when visiting this spot! I have only eaten here at lunch but the experience and service provided is excellent. The food portions are filling but not stuffing you. Perfect portion size! Healthy eating with flavor and flair! I love the unsweetened tea, the only beverage I EVER order...beautiful views or river. I love the menu choices and items are so fresh and excellently prepared! Hats off to the chef!"

  • "Do you know when you read a menu before going to a restaurant and you can almost taste the item as you 're reading it? Well, that was my experience with Muze. I started with the she crab soup- amazing crab flavors and and for my main course I ordered a side of seaweed to go along with the rockfish entree. The seaweed salad coupled with the light but flavorful fish was all I needed to know the chef knows good food. I vow to go back and treat hubby to the same meal - it was just that awesome."

  • "My husband and I always eat here before a show at Arena Stage, The food is varied, well prepared, and interesting. Service is attentive, but not overly so."

  • "Unfortunately, this is the 3rd time i have visited this restaurant. Each time has been for a business luncheon and 2 of 3 times, we have waited over an hour to be served. Will not return."

  • "Meal was excellent! Everyone had the Salmon with jam and were really impressed. Ordered a birthday dessert (kind of a speciality cupcake with cream filling they do). Overall amazing."

  • "Fine dineing at its best. Excellent service and outstanding dishes. A trifle expensive but well worth the price. Once we found this gem we have returned repeatedly."

  • "My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant under its several names for many years. Since its latest transformation from Sou'wester to Muze, we've noticed a dramatic price increase. The quality of food, however, has not increased apace. We eat out a lot and have concluded that Muze's menu is overpriced compared to food and service of comparable quality. The food is good, but not good enough to justify the prices. We'll probably continue to eat there because it's convenient when we have theatre at Arena Stage."

  • "Away from the 14th street/Shaw bustle, great food, good ambiance, reasonable prices, outstanding service and easy on-street parking on most days--make this a keeper."

  • "It was our first time dining here, and we were thoroughly delighted. The food, service, and atmosphere were wonderful. We look forward to dining there again soon."

  • "We sat in a small area off the main dining room. Our section had white tablecloths which we appreciated, which the main area did not have. Also, out area was not full which is one reason it was quiet, but we had the impression that the main dining area, which was full, was pretty quiet too. We had been told the food was outstanding but that the service was not yet up to par. We had excellent, attentive service, but that too may have been in some measure a function of the restaurant's not being full. We went seeking a a good place for a quiet tête à tete and good food, and that's what we got."

  • "We had gone there several times when it was the Souwester and wondered what the changes were like..The service was excellent, the views wonderful and the food extremely satisfying..We will be back again soon..Especially when we have tickets to Arena stage as it is a short drive from there or take a cab.."

  • "First time at the restaurant for a business lunch - food was very good, ambiance and service was top notch. However, lunch for 2 was $85 with tip - no alcohol - two iced teas, two sandwiches, and two coffees. Plain ol' coffee was $8 each. Buyer beware --"

  • "The food was good, especially the tuna steak sandwich. However, the lunch menu was lacking in choices I though and was a bit Pricey for sandwiches"

  • "We have had several of the drinks from the cocktail menu (which changes occasionally), and they all have been FANTASTIC. I am very picky about my cocktails, and don’t like them to be too sweet or syrupy, but rather refreshing, light, and different. That describes drinks at Muze! The food was sensational. The fries that come with the mussels appetizer are the best fries you will ever have- better than McDonalds, really! I hear the green curry mussels were superb from my date. We ordered two desserts, the coconut tapioca and the lime mousse . They were both refreshing and fantastic (in fact, they were the reason we booked the dinner). The Friday evening atmosphere was calm and romantic. This restaurant is a hidden gem!"

  • "Muze is a huge improvement over its predecessors at Mandarin Oriental, which were dreadful compared to the original mid-priced restaurant when Mandarin first opened. For those of us who work in the neighborhood (12th st. SW), this is the only option for lunch other than fast food and sandwich places. The menu is varied and everything is well-executed from quality ingredients. The views of the river are lovely. It's a bit noisy but not unbearable. The service is gracious and professional if somewhat obsequious at times. The wines are lovely if you can indulge mid-day. The problem is the prices are aimed at expense accounts and the portions are a bit small for the price."

  • "It has been two wonderful years with my girlfriend and I wanted to take her out to a special place. With both of us in the industry, we know what good food and service taste and look like. Muze met the requirement of excellence. Not only did they deliver the flowers I sent ahead to the table, they surprised us with a glass of champagne to celebrate. This was after they executed a wonderful meal."

  • "The restaurant's appearance has changed a little since the new chef changed it from Sou'Wester to Muze - new furniture, partial hardwood floor - but the biggest change is in the menu. It has a definite Asian influence now. It all works, though, and the new restaurant is at least as good as the former one. We both gave high marks for all three courses. What has changed, though, are the prices. They're a lot higher. It's still value for money, though, so we'll be back. It's also a convenient place to dine before performances at Arena Stage."

  • "My friend and I went there for lunch day at work. She and I often look for exceptional lunch places, this did not fit the bill. We ordered the falafel dn veggie sandwich...Falafel was dry, I ended up using the dressing from corn fritters to make it edible. The veggie sandwich was all eggplant and not neither will flavored. The salad on the side was bitter with not dressing. I am used to various types of green on a salad, but something seemed un-balanced about this salad."

  • "Came here for a quiet Christmas Day dinner. View was lovely, restaurant is quite nice, food was excellent to superb - BUT there was a party going on in the "private room" just off the main dining room. This "private" room has no door and the sound of 15 or so adults and young children celebrating stopped our dinner conversation cold many times. For a time, I thought there was a sports bar next door, it was so loud. One of the waitstaff did apologize, but was clearly powerless to do anything. I'm glad the family had a good time. Our experience was only so-so. I'll go back sometime, but probably not again for a special meal."

  • "Have been to Mandarin Oriental several times before and it had always been first rate. This time it was awful. I was hostess to several friends, which means that I also spent a lot of money. It was not worth it."

  • "Living in SW DC there aren't a lot of dining options, but like its predecessor, Sou'Wester, Muze makes up for the quantity of restaurants. The service is always impeccable, and the food is always exciting and delicious - enough to make any foodie happy."
